As long as they keep the multiplayer maps the same and have the same feel I will buy it. I want old school Halo where everything is overpowered, the pistol is king and vehicles are indestructible.

wow, halo has been around for nearly ten years? now that makes me feel old, i could have sworn it only came out a 4 or 5 years ago. time flies i guess.
In regards to the remake - meh. I'm sure it will be fun and i will almost 100% find myself a copy once it get's a bit cheaper, but do we honestly need a remake? some might disagree but it seems as though halo was released past the certain point where a remake (by todays standards) can offer many significant improvements.
Take the gamecube remake of resi evil for example, when comparing the original to the remake, drastic improvements in regards to difficulty, controls, gameplay and even story were made, to the point where they are 2 very different games.
When looking at halo, from combat evolved, 2 and 3 (havent played reach or odst but i assume this still applies), the same core gameplay has been retained throughout besides a few graphical tweaks and extra weapons, enemies etc. A remake wouldn't do much ontop of the orignal besides maybe dual wielding and hi res graphics.
Idk maybe I'm looking into it a bit to much, I guess without bungie on board it feels as if microsoft are beginning to milk the halo series, which is something i would really hate to see happen.

I like the fact that the gaming Industry is FINALLY matching the film industry by slowly sucking away originality and filling it's shelves with remake after remake.

So Microsoft are rejecting the Oddworld Stranger remake because they don't want HD remakes, yet allowing this?
Stranger is a much better game than Halo.

Actually, the remake of Strangers Wrath is due to the size limitations they put on the arcade service.

Such great news, I really hope they can make it feel fresh. Either way its a great game to make as a start for 343.
I've always wanted to play Halo 1 with achievements, and I hope they add skulls to find and some extra goodies. Not sure what they plan on doing with weapons however, I trust them to make a great remake though
Wonder if the Library is still going to be a pain in the arse heh

Amen to that. The small things like that to me are still the heart and the soul of that game. At least, I hope that some sort of "Classic Mode" is put into the game where such physical properties are retained.
I'm quite looking forward to this! What an extremely cool way to celebrate the 10th anniversery of the game. Hopefully they'll do it right. _________________

Or perhaps games are finally catching up to other forms of media where it's legacy is finally being preserved in some fashion?
Whether or not you like re-released or re-mastered albums, etc., at least each generation in music for instance is preserved and passed on.
I'm not really fussed with this re-make, but I don't see the harm in classic games finding a new audience.

I agree that this is unnecessary however from what I've read this isn't being done by 343 but instead by Saber Interactive.
I'm not a fan of remakes but if they happen then I prefer it to be done this way, with the main team working on a new game.

If they change the pistol at all (Zoom, no recoil, 3 head shots to kill), then it will be an abomination. I can only remember using the pistol in CE.

If it's priced like a remake/compilation (50-60 dollars) I'll probably buy it .
If it's priced like a full retail game (100-120 dollars) then I probably won't. _________________
