The thing is though.. don't you get charged for the ambulance anyway? I know some private health insurance covers the ambulance, so it goes that they must be charging you for the privelage of the hospital pickup service, so-to-speak... so why would they not go to pick you up.... doesn't make sense to me.. _________________

On a totally unrelated note, I just got off the phone with the real estate agent. Landlord wants to sell and is thus putting the house on the market. Good news is our lease remains intact and we're staying through to November.
The bad news is the real estate agent now wants to do weekly fucking inspections. _________________

They told us the ambulance would probably have trouble finding our house (my folks live on a highway, close to town, and you'd be an idiot to miss the house) and that they're not going to send one, and instead its better off if we drive 30/40 minutes to the hospital instead. |
Holy shit that's absolutely appalling. I don't understand how that can be acceptable by the people running it.

Oh jeez, do they want to show people the house too? One of our real estate agents asked us that and we told em to go fuck em selves.
Can they actually legally do weekly inspections? Isn't there something when you sign your lease saying your guaranteed a certain level of privacy from that kind of shit? _________________

Feel like ive had a truck reverse over my head. What started as a stomach bug seems to have reamed my entire system. Went to bed last night feeling a bit weird, spent the night hallucinating random junk – not so much seeing stuff in my room – but being ‘awake’ and applying some form of sickness induced dream logic to my surroundings. Hence I was convinced I was freezing, pulled two doona’s over myself – then spent the majority of the night convinced I had to make phone calls – to a person ive never heard of, for something that in retrospect is pure insanity.
Woke up at about 5am with what I’m sure was some form of two doona induced heatstroke – went back to bed and proceeded to sweat constantly and have surreal dreams that despite being ‘awake’ for I couldn’t quite shake until about 12 when I finally got out of bed and nearly passed out in the hallway.
Today blows.

@ benza and jarrod no unfortunately.....as long as the times are reasonable....i had people every thursday and saturday for 8 weeks.
Don't think, in vic at least you have any recourse over that one....pretty sure i checked.

Thats what gets my goat everytime I hear about the phrase "budget surplus". Instead of having a fucking surplus of money laying around, why not invest in some fucking services and infrastructure!
The problem with police (as opposed to ambos and firefighters) is that anyone can join, they are desperate to get more cops. To be an ambo you need a degree. To be a cop you need good eyesight and a clean record

Pretty sure it's in every rental agreement.. would check the Office Fair Trading website, if you don't have the agreement handy. _________________

HHHMMMMM interesting.... The landlord at my last place decided to sell and we had perspective buyers through nearly daily...which was a real pain cos we had (wanted) to keep the place spotless ie no dirty dishes or washing on the line etc. We did have a notice of entry in our letter box every afternoon though. They must've dropped them off since we were close to the real estate office.
The 8am to 6pm humours me...i was home at the time of one, 7ish am and i was just hopping out of the shower...heard knocking then the door open...He bought the people upstairs first....awkward.... Who show's the bedrooms upstairs first? I thought the living area, kitchen etc would be....since, you know, you enter downstairs....
Best of luck, Jarrod, Hope your day to day life isn't disturbed too much =)

Regarding the cop test:
Question 2
Are you an Australian citizen or permanent resident?
Answers
Yes No
Umm, yes or no to what? Yes I am a permanent resident? No I am not an Australian citizen? Yes I am an Australian citizen?
Gezzz...
LOL WTF. I selected all the right answers and the result was that I am not eligible to become a Victorian officer. Something screwy going on with that form...

Sounds like are you one of them, so if you are either an Australian citizen or a permanent resident, you select yes. But if you aren't either, you select no.

@pixie
The qld legals are rather crap i must say....i cant see any times they arent allowed to come except between 8pm and 6am sunday....cant see anything about them showing up at 2am if they wanted too on any other day.
Thats balls, the one good thing i saw in the qld legislation, they cant boot you out if you are on a fixed lease....they have to honour it. _________________ kill, kill, kill.....the white man. Kill the white man, kill

^^ yeah we did feel like we were on show... But they communicated well with us. We weren't on a lease at this stage. The landlord did notify us towards the end of lease with their wishes to sell the property. They even gave us the option to make an offer first, before they put it on the market. We were a long term tenant, so I guess they felt obligated to. We were allowed to stay month by month since we were looking elsewhere anyway. But looking back they were probably grateful to have some $$ still coming through.
It was a great place and my partner and I have a twinge of regret...but meh we're well travelled now =)

Watching an interview with Reggie Fils-Aime on Youtube.
Almost every single comment is "release MOTHER in the West".
EDIT: This should be in the "what made you smile" thread. Oh well. _________________

Doesn't really annoy me too much, but someone used my photo on ebay, it was the one photo I didn't include my signature blue-star in also. But its so obvious, the guy zoomed in a bit which cropped around the picture.
Honestly, its probably just laziness but take your own damn picture in future. Not only that but the seller should see what they're buying IS what they're buying. Even if it is brand new and boxed :/ Picture copying and stock photos shit me.
Edit: Stock photos are understandable if your an eBay retailer or distributor, but otherwise it shouldn't be used to sell one-off products.

Yeah, people go to open houses to specifically steal things.
It's so much easier when the front door is already open. _________________

Open houses are a great source of free prescription medication.
I mean, at least that's what I've heard.

you know what, they told him to **** off and it was for life threatening injuries only...WTF.
If they told me that when i burnt myself a few years back, i can't even imagine trying to get myself off to hospital with 3rd degree burns.

My younger brother broke his arm at his primary school about 7 or 8 years ago, completely snapped his radius and ulna. The school called an ambulance as they couldn't move him due to the fear of getting sued if they made it any worse. The ambulance depot was a 30 second drive down the road and the hospital was ACROSS the road from his school. Took them 40 minutes to get there. Absolute fucking joke. _________________
