So, with importing/3DSware/Virtual Console, since it uses cash rather than points would we have to use a US credit card? _________________

No, it has been announced that there will still be "points cards", they'll just have cash amounts on them (like PSN cards). I'm sure that we'll be able to buy them online from various sites. _________________

What charger will we need to use in Australia? I've got a third party DSi XL charger off eBay. Will this work?

I'm still buying it at or around launch. I just can't decide which game to get first, I can't afford more than one. _________________ "If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving is not for you."

Same here. I've pre-ordered mine, but I can't decide what game to get. I can afford more than one, but whether there is even more than one worth getting...that's another issue entirely. _________________

The latest Iwata Asks depressingly confirms that the battery is only ~5 hours on the lowest brightness setting.
Might not even bother with a launch system now. Australian prices will have us paying through the teeth, and its so unlike Nintendo to drop the ball on battery power. Really disappointed with them. Its just not good enough. _________________

Re: Battery Life. Anyone who says that 3-5 hours is fine, obivously hasn't played enough PSP. Having done around 50 PSP reviews, I can tell you that a battery life like this SUCKS. It wastes before you even know it.
So on the fronts of battery life and the region-free bs, I will definitely not be buying a system at launch. I'll either wait till I'm LA in June or for the first hardware revision. _________________

The worst thing about battery life that battery tech has, comparatively, advanced much slower than graphical hardware. We're getting stronger and stronger systems but the affordable and portable battery power just cant keep up, not unless you decide to make the device huge to house a large battery. _________________

Probably not. Considering the DS lite and DSi had different chargers I can't imagine a whole new system having the same connection as an old one. _________________

Well consider your imagination stretched then. It has been confirmed that the 3DS uses the DSi charger.
Still, I wouldn't trust a 3rd party wall charger off of eBay. They are prone to blowing up and possibly taking out your 3DS with it. Either get a proper wall charger from a reputable store, or a 3rd party USB charger (as it's pretty much impossible to fuck up). _________________

Screw that, I'll stick to my 15+ hour Game Boy Colour on two AA batteries. No, I won't.
Ninty really deserves a slap on the wrist for that one. But hey! At least it'll have a bigger battery than the PSP2! Right?
...right? _________________

We'll see. Ninty did underestimate the DSi's battery life and I'm hoping the same thing happened here. _________________ "If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving is not for you."

Meh. Battery life makes no difference to me, considering I don't play video games on portables long enough to have to charge it, play it then charge it again all in one day. At the most I'd play it at home near a power source anyway.
So no change for me. More than happy to be a part of the launch day still.

5 hours is still long enough to last me a day, at least. And even if I did get addicted to a game and played it more than that, I'd most likely be at home at some point to charge it, I don't think I'd ever play for more than 1-2 hours without having access to a wall socket, so it doesn't bother me too much. Still, I can't see me buying one of these until later in the year, if I do get one, as I'd like to see more games for it first. This year is going to be an expensive one :\

There's some game box art and a lot of 'TBC' on the site, but the thing I noticed most, some games that haven't been listed officially by Nintendo.

What a ******* joke. $400 for the unit alone when you can get the unit and 2 games with expedited shipping from the US for LESS THAN THAT!?
**** you Nintendo of Australia, I'm glad to be importing and not supporting the local scene. _________________

Has it been confirmed that original ds games will be region free and will we need a step down for those importing or just an Australian dsi plug?

Well the price hasn't exactly been confirmed yet, i'm remaining hopeful that it is not $398.
I'll repeat what has been stated many times before, original DS games have no region coding in them, so the 3DS won't have any idea where your game came from.
If it does use a standard DSi wall charger to plug into either the cradle or system itself, I will be a happy guy. Otherwise you will need an adaptor or something like that. _________________ "If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving is not for you."

It's been confirmed that it uses a standard dsi plug but I guess it haswnt been confirmed if it has universal power voltage

Well the PAL Animal Crossing:LgttC wouldn't recognise the Australian (really American) version of AC:WW and the Australian Nintendo Channel still doesn't recognise Australian DS games (only the ones that are just the American version) either.
