Kinda getting annoyed by this ploy to get me to buy the same games twice, that said I'd still sell my soul if it would make this rumour true. _________________

I've been very tempted to get a PS3 lately due to the HD remakes/touch ups. I think this is about the nail in the coffin for me... Now all I want a retouch of is Kingdom Hearts and I'd be sold.
Mind you I find it quite a concern that there is quite a breadth to the new titles coming out on the console and that alot of the touched up ones are coming out more frequently.

Even though I have the NTSC/U box of MGS games that came out a few years back, I'd still fork out cash for this no worries. Having just finished MGS4 has got me wanting to go back and play the earlier games again (and actually finish MGS3 this time). _________________

Question is, what release of these games would be getting the facelift? the original releases, or the Intergral/Substance/Subsistance release?
Doesn't really mean much difference to the main game, unless were talking about Snake eater. _________________

Nope, I don't think so. The Metal Gear Solid franchise doesn't exactly refer to the original Metal Gears.
I'm thinking - MGS1, MGS2 and MGS3 (maybe all of them with the new camera angle). _________________

I'd prefer a remake of Metal Gear 1 and 2. More than likely it'll be MGS 1, 2 and 3. I'd be happy either way and it will be a day one purchase for me. I already have three copies of Metal Gear Solid 1. _________________

This is a pretty old rumour - so I'd be pretty certain of it. Where there's smoke... _________________

Maybe it'll be a HD version of The Twin Snakes. (The Gamecube version - developed by Silicon Knights).
I'd get this hands down, I never really played the first 3 games. _________________

To my knowledge, the MGS series retcons a lot of stuff in the MG series so I don't think they will ever be remade.
As for this collection, an upodate to the first 3 games of my favourite series of all time? Oh hell YEAH! _________________ Welcome to the internet. Where any joke can turn into WWIII.

I really hope they don't use The Twin Snakes, apart from the added Matrix-Style crap they also changed a bunch of the voice actors for characters like Mei Ling and Nastasha... _________________

The only different voice actor was Grey Fox. Everybody else reprised their roles. _________________

Kim Mai Guest voiced her in both versions. In the original game she has a Chinese accent, whereas in Twin Snakes she has an American accent, just like she does in MGS4. Naomi no longer has a British accent too.
Otherwise, every character other than Gray Fox is voiced by the original cast. I have no idea why Kojima changed Gray Fox though, considering the voice actor was back on board voicing Donald Anderson.
EDIT: Also, I dont really understand the complaints about the bullet timey cutscenes. Okay, I do understand, but they didnt bother me much at all. Funny thing is the director had the shots all planned exactly the same as the original game, and Kojima made him do what we got instead. _________________

I agree about the Matrix-style cutscenes. Personally, I think Twin Snakes was a horrible remake because of how they turned Snake into some kind of Dante-clone. Not that I mind that kind of style, but that's just not what Metal Gear Solid is...

Yeah, iirc Kojima disliked the stereotypical accents they used in the original game. Also, some voice actors are credited under a different name in Twin Snakes. For example: in the original MGS1, Jennifer Hale was credited as Carren Learning (I still wonder why voice actors do that sometimes).
And I have to say, as much as I like her voice work, there was something very wrong with her voice in Twin Snakes. It's like they called her in the middle of the night to record everything; Naomi sounds like a braindead zombie in Twin Snakes... I was shocked that it was really Jennifer Hale doing the voice. Maybe reading the same script twice was just too boring? Lol, I can only wonder...
But yeah, if they're using Twin Snakes for MGS1, then no thanks. I've got the game and I still prefer playing the original MGS1.

ManeKast: Alot of games I've seen come out lately have been re-releases of older titles from the PS2 era. While there has been very far and few PS3 titles between. In this case, the PS3 is seeing more HD remakes (Not so much bad) rather then fresh titles designed specifically for the PS3.

Not really, there have only been 3 HD collections released this year... Next year however if this one is true then there's at least 4 coming, but I'd only get this one and the ICO/SOTC ones. I have 14 PS3 games I plan on buying this year(damn it...), so there's plenty of other releases to not have to worry about this trend. _________________

Isn't Grey Fox the only one that goes all crazy and matrix for the most part? All snake really does is just barley manage to survive. I mean go look at the fight between snake and grey fox when you first meet him again. All Snake really manages to do is just barley dodge a big lump of cement then land on his arse.
He's hardly Mr "Kill 100 teleporting monsters while eating pizza and dancing to phat tunes" Dante. _________________

^ He still does things that he isn't capable of in any other MGS game, for example:
| MGS1/Twin Snakes SPOILERS wrote: | The battle against Liquid in the Hind-D: after the battle is over it ends with a cutscene where Liquid fires one last missile at Snake. Snake, being more agile than usual, backflips into the air and rides on the missile. I was almost expecting him to say "Let's rock, baby!"
2nd battle against Sniper Wolf: after the battle comes another cutscene which shows Snake's incredible backflip skills. It was a nice idea to have Snake getting unarmed, then doing a backflip to avoid getting shot and get his sniper rifle back, but he leaps so high into the air that Sniper Wolf has every reason to go "huh!?" |
Sure, MGS games have plenty of over-the-top stuff, but this felt very different. Might be just me, but Twin Snakes didn't feel like an MGS game to me anymore.

You're all going a bit off topic... The point being made is that this would be awesome. I have been known to put the ol' PS1 metal gear in the PS3 console and play it for 10 minutes before I realise the graphics stink for this day and age...
