I don't mind XIII-2 being made, but if it gets released before Versus, that's just bloody ridiculous. _________________

Oh gawd... here we go again. I kind of hate Square Enix right now. A sequel getting a sequel, yup! _________________

Look, people hating on the game without having seen any gameplay or footage whatsoever. Never change internet.

In other news, Final Fantasy Agito XIII is no lnoger known as 'Agito XIII', rather it is now known as Final Fantasy 0-Shiki/Type 0 or something. (and no longer part of the Fabula Nova Crystalis series but rather a new Final Fantasy series). Riiiiiiiight.... Square Enix doing it again!

Let's just hope it keeps the good elements of FFXIII (the battle system, the pretty graphics) and does away with the bad (pretty much everything else, particularly the painful characters and story). _________________ PSWii60

The more FF the better I say. New series? Sweet. XIII-2? Awesome. You can damn well guarantee I'm picking up both at Japanese launch and enjoying the hell out of them. _________________

Meh, she'll just use the sword to start cutting her wrists, annoying frigging emo.
I only care about Fang being back, if she is, Fang is awesome.

It's more the fact that 13 wasn't that great of the game, especially the first 5-10 hours. Then, compare 10-2 to 10, and it's no wonder that people think 13-2 will flop.

13 isn't a bad game, people just prefer WRPG design these days... it's because of that mentality that we won't get another Tales game localised. I'm really excited about this and will cherish every second of it as it will probably be the last Final Fantasy game done traditionally as I think Square-Enix wants to move on to western design now *runs back to hide in RPG thread*. _________________

I'm not sure what else they could do story-wise. I thought it was pretty well sewn-up.
Hopefully there'll be no Vanille or "Tuck Shop" Fang involved.

So in this one, Lighting plays a armoured prostitute?
Story of XIII was ballz. Don't think i'd be interested in a continuation of such a crappy plot/character development.

Yeah what a pessimistic bunch the PALGN commenter's seem to have become lately.
I for one am stoked to see a continuation of the XIII world(s), I'm sure with the cristisms made with Final Fantasy lately Square Enix will listen to the fans and create a cracker of a game. _________________

Yeah, I really, really liked the mythology behind XIII and while the first game didn't really go deeply enough into it I'm hoping the sequel changes this.

I agree. The XIII world was pretty cool and if the sequel fixes some key areas of concern it could be stellar. This includes the frustrated by the almost automatic nature of the fighting system (which was anti-JRPG at times, being so hands-off) and the linear nature of many of the levels. It would also be nice to see more interaction with townspeople and buying stuff in real shops rather than tech stations.
Basically, a nice healthy injection of some personality would be welcome. _________________

All the XIII hating, breaks my heart. It wasn't a bad game at all, just not the Final Fantasy people were expecting. I'm looking forward to it.

Nah, 13 was just a pile of crap. I much much prefer JRPG design to WRPG design and I hated 13. The automatic nature of the battle system was awful, though I like the Paradigm system. I'd like to chose my moves myself, not have an automatic thing telling me what moves to use. Not only that, the first 20 hours were just a handholding tutorial. Remember, most games these games are considered really long if they go for 20 hours, and 13 doesn't even truly start until that point. While you could argue 10 was similar to that in some ways, looking back, it atleast had other things you could do to distract you during that first 20 hour period, like Blitzball. Where are the Minigames in 13? They're near non-existant. And when you do finally get to the bits that should make the game good, when the game finally opens up, the difficulty goes from "I can play this and sleep at the same time!" to "Holy shit, how the fuck can I beat these things!?" While I don't mind a challenge, such a leap in difficulty is very off-putting.
Not only that, the characters are boring. I thought the characters were bad in 12, but they're so much WORSE in 13. It's ridiculous.
That being said, the world in 13 is spectacular. If 13-2 would let us properly explore the cities and towns scattered throughout the place, and not keep us on some rigid path, the world could be really cool. It also needs to fix the battle system, although it only needs tinkering, I think, not a complete overhaul. Also give us one or two interesting characters. And add in a couple minigames. Square are always hit and miss in terms of story IMO, so hopefully they come up with something good there.

Then choose your moves yourself?
I don't get this argument at all. You have the option to select moves yourself over having them chosen for you, hell I do it heaps in the later stages of the End game because I tend to find the games selections to be universally terrible at that point.
Plus the constant paradigm shifting and it gets pretty bloody hectic.
You might as well be complaining about every JRPG that only let's you control one character, why can't I issue commands to my entire team?
I certainly agree with a lot of what you said, but personally i found XIII's combat a Hell of a lot deeper than any other Final Fantasy title I played (which usually equated to "attack" for fighters, "Meteor" (or it's equivalent awesome spell) for mages, throw in a heal every now and then, or sometimes you'd have to constantly heal... oooh, tricky).
