Good news, and also an excuse to beef up the PC for this and Skyrim.

I'm pessimistic as to how well, considering BC2 was a little buggy on PC.

But BC has always been a console franchise, BF is a PC one, and maybe, just maybe, we will see some legs stretched and have something if not ground breaking, as good as the original.

All the Battlefield Games have been buggy on release, 1942 was a shocker, Vietnam and BF2 weren't much better, but they do improve with time.

This is my 2011 most anticipated title, that may change after the announcement depending on details, but I hold high hopes, and I'd be ecstatic to see the return of variety in vehicles, large maps, and fixed wing aircraft.

The big unknown is setting I guess. Between BF2 and BF2142 Ala Frontlines? Alternate past? Africa? Korea? Who knows...

Also @ Slipvayne; Anti-Dice Attitude, what do you mean? DICE developed all the battlefield games, not just the weaker console versions.

BF3 is multiplatform, that's already confirmed, also confirmed is special emphasis on the PC version, so I guess time will tell to what extent the game has been nerfed.

All I can say is there better be dedicated servers, 64 or even 128 players, and the vehicle variety of BF2

BF:BC and BC2 have been a step backwards for a franchise that prided itself of huge maps and players and a large vehicle variety.

I think they will go with five years in future. Oh and those wanting this to be multiplatform, shame on you.Bit of a let down that this will go on consoles though.

it started out as a console exclusive so it baffles me that anyone would think otherwise.

This is Battlefield 3, not Bad Company 3.

Battlefield is a PC series.

BC2 didn;t improve and that is what worries me. There were MANY issues on release that still existed when i quit playing at level 44. They release a patch once if a blue moon, that fixes next to nothing, and somtimes made things worse.

What happened to games that had a lag free mouse and ran smoothly. DICE think they can get away with a glitchy game if it looks good, but honestly whats the point if the performance of the game impedes your playing performance.

I can run crysis cranked and smooth, why shouldn't i be able to do that with bc2. Hence why i hate DICE.

Don't even get me started on the balancing issues.

Not just dice that is bad. most modern developers are like this. Once they get your money, they are happy. Bring back the days of decent shooters.

According to the forums console gamers may be getting this and all the power to them. Lets try our best to kill fanboys of all types.

And dude, im the biggest BF fan out these, so i do know that DICE are responsible for ALL the bf games..... macca macca attacks dice quite often so im not sure what you were getting at there.

Ah okay, I tend to not remember members who don't have avatars, and didn't know.

Console versions are confirmed, we knew that back when MoH:LE was announced with Beta passes for BF3 last year.

I'm curious to know what people want in the new game.

My shortlist would be:
• Larger maps/At least 32v32
• Switchable fire modes as appropriate (aka. Semi, Burst, Auto)
• Ammunition system for vehicles and firearms (High Explosive, Sabot, Slugs, Pellets...)
• Scout choppers (no secret I'm a huge DC fan and ex-DCX dev but <3 Littlebirds)
• Damage system akin to Arma II:OA, localised damage on vehicles and bodyparts (i.e. damage engine, instruments, rotors, tracks, arms, legs etc independently with varying consequences)
• Big open maps with dense towns for a winning combo of intense long distance vehicular and tight urban fighting.
• Vertical gameplay. Truly my most enjoyable moments in my time playing Battlefield and it's mods has been on intelligently designed levels which think outside the box and have more than just an X and Y axis. Two examples: DC Sea Rigs, US begin on Aircraft carrier, Blackhawks, Littlebirds, RHIBs, OPFOR have to defend two joined Oil Rigs, with 6 capture points between them, some on the tops of the rigs near the anti air equipment, some inside the rigs and some down near the water level where the naval units are assaulting.
The other example is my favourite map from all Battlefield time, DC Basrah's Edge, it's not massive, but the structure, alternate routes, and spacing of buildings allowing for creative roof jumps made for a great battle. Kubra Dam was pretty good too, nothing like flying a jet through a long concrete tunnel underneath a warzone icon_smile.gif

The zip line from the expansion pack. On the same topic I loved some of the night maps with infrared goggles.

7 man squads with squad leaders. I loved how you had to keep your squad leader alive in 2 but I loved being able to spawn on anyone. Maybe a hybrid like being able to spawn on anyone as long as there is more than two people in the vicinity.

32 vs 32. While I would love more I really hope they have this number at least.

Command structure from 2 to be more fleshed out. Nothing has ever felt better than a plan coming together. I have been apart of squads that executed amazing stuff like throwing down a artillery strike, running out as soon as its stopped and capturing a CP because the commander has been whispering where all the enemies are coming from as I tell my squad where to hole up. Maybe a button in which you can set up a link to others mid battle. Just point at a friendly chopper so you can chat and coordinate.

A crap ton of vehicles. I want a few maps (or at least one) with so many vehicles that it looks like a bloody invasion.

Transport helicopters. I love those things.

As you might tell from the list I want it to feel more like 2 than BC. While I love BC I really miss the patience of 2 and just the more random stuff on bigger maps and more overpowered tanks, planes and choppers.

64v64, smooth graphics engine (i don't care if it looks worse than BC2, i'd rather it run smoothly), dev support, and JETS!!!

oh how I miss flying jets...

more balanced weapons would be nice too....

I think it would be interesting if some maps/servers adopted a similar approach to MAG, with actions on some maps effecting the players on others.

But that might be a little bit out of place in Battlefield, and I'd prefer super tight and polished singular maps over that.

Yeh, prone is a must...

I would also like to see maps made in such a way so that reduce camping.

Do you play BF?.... you understand the entire concept of defending an objective dont you? (unless your a cod player, where the term "camping" is actually an un needed problem).

Call it camping if you will, but when i play and the same sniper kills me twice, my next kill is a knife kill icon_smile.gif

What do i want in the new game? well even though macca continues to piss on DICE, i will agree with him in that there needs to be more DEV SUPPORT, they seem to release something and before it even hits the retail shelves they are off on holidays for a few months, unreachable, even on their official forums and the moderators get abused lol.

Is hiding in the bushes slowly sniping guys every few minutes so they don't find me camping? Because that's basically snipers role and it is awesome.
