I finally got my NTSC copy of Suikoden 3 working on my PS2 console. I'm so T_____T happy right now. _________________

Awesome, convince the rest of us to play it. I was going along pretty well then I got distracted.

Suikoden was one of my favourite series, but the lack of PAL Suikoden 3 put me off them from then on. Supposedly, S3 is the best of the lot.
Is the only way to play it via mod-chipping a PAL PS2? I'd love to track it down.

Oh? I've always been told Suikoden 2 is the best of the series. It's also the only one I've ever played. Given that the game really wasn't my kind of thing, I never looked back on the series as everyone kept telling me it's the best one. And I figured if I don't even like "the best one", then this series just ain't for me. Well, I'm still sure they aren't my kind of RPGs, but it's interesting to see that Suikoden 3 gets a mention for best one of the series too (it's the first time I've heard that).
I did like Suikoden 2's soundtrack, though. It was quite nice. I still remember some themes from that game; e.g. "Children Playing in the Fields", you can sing la~la~la! to that one... xD

3 is very different from the rest of the series, so that may be why people say it is the best.

I'd probably go with FFX if you haven't played it before. From what I've been told Re:coded is Kingdom Hearts 1 with different text... but not as good.
Qouting RPGfan's review: 'The amount of truly original content in Re:Coded amounts to almost nothing; there are scarcely more than four new songs in the game's soundtrack, and what few original locations it contains are somewhat uninspired both visually and in terms of design. The point is, the Kingdom Hearts series needs fresh content, and it needs it now.'
Then again, I think most of the english speaking world is getting all their info from this one review.

Being the KH fan I am, I'll probably get Re:Coded, but considering it's a remade Cell Phone game, I won't be expecting much. I read the plot already though and it is preeeetty important. Not as important as BBS, but it still explain one or two things. Not to mention the secret ending is always good. _________________

Suikoden 2 and 3 are regarded as the best of the series. Suikoden 5 is also noted as a very good game which is worthy of the Suikoden name.
I hope Suikoden 3 comes on the Playstation Network one day. I've pined for this game too much.
I've been working my way through P3P as the female main character on hard difficulty. Those 3 monster mini bosses are a real pain in the arse. I also thought I might be able to woo Kenji or at least by a fall back girl for him. Doesn't look like that's going to happen either!

Vagrant Story is supposed to be really good, but I couldn't get into it. I didn't like the combat system.
Legend of Mana is apparently the start of many very average sequels to the Secret of Mana games on SNES.
Xenogears is highly rated, but I don't know much about it.
I don't think I've even heard of Threads of Fate before.

I've been after a copy of Demon's Souls ever since I got a PS3 but I'm not sure what version I should go for? There's the US Deluxe Edition, US standard edition, PAL standard edition and finally the PAL Black Phantom Edition. Yup there's a lot editions of this game available. So are the special editions worth while and does anyone know what the differences are?

I just wiki'd Threads Of Fate
It had me at "Action RPG". Apparently it's a lot like Secret of Mana. _________________

PAL Black Phantom is great if you can still find it. The guide is much easier to follow than the US Deluxe one. AFAIK the games are identical other than using different backend servers.
There's also an Asian version, I've seen people call it "the best" but I don't know why they would say that. Best I can tell it just has slightly weirder names for things.
If you have friends playing, pick up the same region as them so you can do some co-op or PvP. _________________

Lol.....Loading up the page, I saw the post above me and the first thought that entered my head was: "Nooooo, they cannot make a sequel to Resonance of Fate!" Then I scrolled up and saw the other post. Don't mind me, I'm just in a weird mood today _________________

Hey, that's what I initially though too!
High five!
As for Demon's Souls, BPE if you can find it. A few months ago, they were the about same price as the game by itself at EB (go figure), and the strategy guide is pretty handy at times. Not necessary, but handy. AUS if you want to play online. The Asian "The Best" version I believe is just a way of labelling it as Platinum or Greatest Hits or Classics or That's Hot or... well, you get the idea. Same game, just a bit cheaper, and probably some mangled boxart. _________________

A little off the current topic - but whatever! :3
Really enjoying Tales of Vesperia and Valkyria Chronicles 2!
I think I'm about ~2 hours into Vesperia, about to go into a forest. The graphics are freakin' superb and I love the voice acting - anyone whose beat this, how long is the main story? :0
Just beaten the January mission in VC2, the game is a little weird. I like pretty much everything barring the voice acting @_@;
So, yeah. :P
Oh, and getting RE:Coded day one probably, will post some impressions :3

I've played it, but I didn't like it much. It really didn't keep me interested for long. _________________

One last thought on that... if you can't get hold of a deluxe or black phantom edition... the guide is freely available here: http://demonssouls.wikidot.com/ _________________

Oh, so Demon's Souls is region locked in a way that you can only play with people with the same region game as you (PAL, NTSC, ect)?

The graphics are indeed amazing, some of the best on the Xbox 360 in my opinion. Depending on your play style I'd say the main story can be done between 60 to 80 hours but everything else you're looking at over 100 hours.

Yep. Segregated into 3 separate regions: Asian, US and PAL (UK/EU/AU) _________________

I played and completed Xenogears about two years ago and enjoyed it a lot.
If it does get released here, I'd recommend it if you like JRPG's. It starts off fairly simple and cliche - guy with amnesia is forced out into the world and uncovers the truth about himself. The plot is pretty deep and it contains memorable protagonists and antagonists. There are a lot of twists and turns, some of which I guessed beforehand but quite a lot caught me completely off guard.
The story is quite dark and has some thought provoking and confronting moments. That said it's not perfect, I've talked it up a fair bit but it (like any game) is not going to win over everyone. Others may feel that the plot was too convoluted and I agree to an extent. There are times when a lot of stuff is dumped in your lap but I prefer this to a game where the plot is non-existent or might as well be.
The soundtrack is awesome too. _________________

I found the first boss quite challenging, beat him the first go but eh. Yuri was pretty low on HP :[
Once I pick up a Swapmagic Abyss is probably the first thing I'll grab. My favourite PS2 RPG is definately Kingdom Hearts though -- that could change when I play DQ...8, I think. :D

Vesperia wasn't that difficult. There are a couple of tough bosses, in particular that one that appears in the demo except it's way more tougher in the full game.
