Could be tricky, as I don't think I played many 2010 games.
(These are not in order)
Battlefield Bad Company 2 - this game gave me the most fun I have ever had online. Even not playing with friends, and randoms online in team death match was a blast. What helped is I found the game a bit easier at aiming, and with the different classes available as well, especially playing as an engineer. Rocket Launcher and Drills, always going to be fun.
Heavy Rain - played it at a friends, and made me have to get a PS3. Played it virtually non stop from start to finish. It was simple to play and but very engrossing.
2010 Fifa World Cup South Africa - I love football game, in particular the FIFA series. I found this to be the best EA football game in quite a few years and I'm still playing it to this day.
Halo: Reach - Great multiplayer fun. Sticky grenades galore and Zombie mode.
Gran Turismo 5 - This is a prediction 2010 great game. Looks and sounds great with some good gameplay, but still early days into it.
Other mentions - COD Black Ops, mine is in the mail, so it is likely to replace a game in this list as most COD titles are great[/b] _________________

1: Mass Effect 2
Um, by now you probably all know I love this game and anything done by Bioware.
BF:BC 2
Multiplayer shooters are my favorite genre and this is the best online shooter. It keeps disappointing me that there is no BF3 but this was a well done game.
Red Dead Redemption
The Undead Nightmare DLC really soured the game for me however RDR is really good. Loved Marston, the world and some gameplay moments.
AC: Brotherhood
Really surprised me how much I enjoyed this game. While it is just AC2 with extra's I enjoyed this far more mostly because of the "win" button and the new combo system that feels ripped out of the Batman game. Also the multi is surprisingly good.
My biggest disappointment
Civ 5: I know it's a good game for those unfamiliar with Civ but at higher levels the game is just broken when you know how it works.

VVVVVV - Awesome platforming and great music. Buy it, it's $2.50 atm.
Golden Sun: DD - Finally the return of Golden Sun! Not perfect (really easy and lots of text) but I still one of my favourite series.
Super Meat Boy - rage inducing.
The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom - Great puzzle platformer and it's 50 cents!
SMG2

Hmmmm... Games that came out this year, eh?
Mega Man 10
Easier than MM9, but not quite as cool as MM9...
Final Fantasy XIII
Right down the bottom of my list as a "least favourite" FF game, but it still works and I still enjoyed it, first time in Japanese and second time in English. The battles are fun and intense, and the graphics are teh PHWOARRR! Unfortunately the story is just stupid (especially in the 2nd half of the game) and the linearity of the game annoyed me.
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Awesomeness returns.
Uncharted 2
Did this come out last year...? Ah well, I played it this year so it counts. Would have been much better if there was 50% less shooting levels and 50% more exploration / story levels.
And my game of the year... (ba ba ba baaaaaaa...)
Super Mario Galaxy 2
No competition. This game is "video gaming" in its purest, most imaginitive and funnest form. Goes hand in hand with its predecessor to make the best example of game design in this entire generation of consoles.

Still have a fair few games I’ve yet to even open, but I can’t see myself making room for anything else this year. In no particular order:
Limbo:
Limbo was a fresh and awesome experience. There’s all the whinging about length and price point, but that’s all bullshit as far as I’m concerned. This game is a masterpiece, and that’s all there is to it.
God of War 3:
Apart from being a little on the easy side, it’s hard to fault GoW3. I don’t really play GoW for the combat, but for Kratos and his story, the massive landscapes and stunning graphics, the puzzles and overall epicness of the package. It’s just a great experience from beginning to end. That and I got to do Aphrodite
Super Meat Boy:
SMB is as close to perfection as a platformer can get. Tight controls and perfect difficulty, it just had me hooked from the get-go. The incorporation of the friends list was a genius move taken from RedLynx, but nonetheless a genius move.
Alan Wake:
Gripping single player experience from start to finish. My only real complaint was that it looked like Remedy wanted to do open world but kinda stopped half way, leaving far too much area to explore with nothing there to find. That and the thermos...
Blur:
Without a doubt, the best arcade racer ever made – no question. It even tops Burnout 3! Bizarre Creations took car combat to another level and then some, but unfortunately were under the rule of Activision, and hence left to rot. Marketing was nonexistent and support was forbidden, leaving many not knowing just what the hell Blur actually is. Releasing it at the same time as Red Dead and Split Second (along with a few other big names) didn’t help either. Regardless, its closest rival would be so far behind it isn’t even worth a comparison. Easily my GotY.
A special shout-out goes to Castlevania: HD. Never thought it was possible to do Castlevania 2D with multi, but obviously it is. Far from perfect, but still loads of fun.
Overall, an insanely good year for gaming.

My three picks are in our feature on the front page, but there's a few extras I consider right up there with those three, or just under.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 - I wholey believe this is the best 3D platforming game ever made, bar none. Galaxy was good, but Galaxy 2 is no-nonsense 3D platforming at its absolute tightest and most creative. Its a gamers game through and through, and the benchmark to beat in 3D platforming. Miyamoto still has it, not that there were any doubts.
Vanquish - Mikami gives the V salute to all those dudebro cover shooters that have you spend most of the game cowering behind a rock. Camping play is weak and useless, and instead Vanquish demands players boost towards cover at a hundred miles per hour, and then vault right over it. Its the answer to the third person shooter problem, and its commercial falure is depressing.
Super Meat Boy + VVVVVV - SMB is one of the best 2D platformers ever made, full stop. Tight level design and perfect controls are just the start, as its the difficulty that sells the game. Meat Boy does what you do, and if you fail its your fault, not the games. VVVVVV is, in my opinion, just as good as SMB (and in some areas better, see soundtrack), though has gone under the radar of most. Very creative and stimulating, it feels like the best game of the Commodore 64 generation that was locked away from the world before release, only to be discovered all these years later.
The rest of the best include Sin & Punishment 2, Minecraft, and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. _________________

This is very hard for me since I have barley finished any games. one I have and not finished include
Donkey Kong, splinter cell, alan wake, naruto, castlevania, majin, vanquish, Nier, dj hero 2, Bayonetta just to name a select few.
That being said from the ones I have actually completed i would have to say
Mass Effect 2 - Interesting charcaters improved gameplay cant wait till 3
Mario Galaxy 2 - One of the all time greats. each star had you doing something new. Most games use one trick this seemed like it did something different every time amazing
Fable 3 - I just love fable games I do not see the hate for this game. Loved 2 and loved 3 just as much
Black ops - region filter lets me find games quicker. kill streaks dont stack and many great choices. A story I actually cared about for a war shooter and zombies is always fun
AC brotherhood - Not finished but no need to know its in my top 5. Multiplayer is lots of fun and unexpected long story with great additions. One of my favourite franchises cant wait to see the next installment _________________

Skate 3, Final Fantasy XIII, BioShock 2, Fallout New Vegas, Super Street Fighter IV.

Mine would be
1) Mass Effect 2
2) Heavy Rain
3) God of War 3
4) Halo Reach
5) Red Dead Redemption
Out of all of them Red Dead was probably be my sleeper hit of the year. I got into it on an impulse buy and couldnt put it down. _________________

Is this the best games you played in 2010 or the best that came out in 2010?
Anyway, for those that came out.
5. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
I'm a big fan of the metroidvanias but this still won me over. It could have had more interesting characters and the start was wonky but the rest of the game is what I expected games to be like when I entered this generation. Oh, and finally a console action game that doesn't feel short.
4. Valkyria Chronicles
I'll admit that it had problems but I had loads more fun with it than some of the more polished console games (GOW3, Red dead). They also improved on the original's gameplay and turned the PSP limitations into a game device.
3. Donkey Kong Country Returns
I want to put down Sonic Colours, I really do but DKC was a fantastic game that made me not mind that Retro didn't do a new Metroid Prime.
2. Bayonetta
It is magical.
1. Yakuza 3
I've gushed about this game elsewhere. Basically after the first two I thought I was done with the series but 3 really ramped everything up. The whole emotional side of the game really made it stick out too, unfortunately I hear it is not in 4... though they say 4 is better.
For non 2010 releases add: Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams.

I've barely played 5 games in 2010 that were made in the same year. But from what I can remember, I played:
God of War III
GT5
Amnesia: Dark Descent
Bioshock 2
FFXIII (Haven't played it yet, but I'll add it to make up a top 5).
I would say that I 'enjoyed' Amnesia the most. Having never played the Penumbra series before, it felt fresh and it definitely scared me to death every time I played it. And for a measly 20 bucks, it was awesome value. _________________

2010, in my opinion, was a pretty crap year.
But if I HAD to pick some:
Halo: Reach
No More Heroes 2
God of War III
Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Not going to really give descriptions because the only games out of the lot I thought worth a GOTY award were Halo and NMH2. _________________

5 Blur - Surprised by this one, the concept was executed perfectly, so much fun had with this one, was also really challenging, without being cheap.
4. BFBC2 never really played a BF game, and not a massive shooter fan, but the online on this is incredibly addictive. Gotta got 'Nam asap and start playing again.
3. NFS Hot Pursuit I don't look forward to many games, but as soon as I heard about this one I was hanging out for it. This is exactly what I hoped for. Possibly the only racing game I am determined to finish every race on.
2. Halo Reach, simple online fun, spent so many nights smashing this with mates, gets a lot of laugh out loud moments too with some of the things we'll pull off. A game that will continually find itself in my console.
1. Mass Effect 2 I don't even like Sci Fi, but the scope and detail that goes into this franchise can suck anyone in, loved the first game. This umproved everything and became possibly my fave single player experience ever. Can't wait to give it another bash.
Other games I rated this year would be Heavy Rain, NBA 2K11 (very unlucky to miss out) Bayonetta, Sly Trilogy, Kinect. _________________
