Just finished the demo and while it was a lot scarier than that poor excuse for a scary game (for me at least) that was DS, I will not be buying the 2nd one.
I don't know why but these DS games piss me off because of to many enemies and them surrounding you yet the enemies are the same in RE4 and RE5 yet those games don't piss me off. _________________ Welcome to the internet. Where any joke can turn into WWIII.

Damn sorry, I was thinking about Dead Rising 2 with the steelbook, my bad!
The 360 version has the cutter, and the PS3 version has Extraction & the extra DLC. The PS3 version though does look like it will have unique fold out casing, but I can't be too sure because there isn't any images of the 360 case. _________________ Playing: Fallout: New Vegas

Will Extraction come out on its own on PSN? I want DS2, but don't want to fork out for the LE.

Apparently the LE will be the same price as the standard, the collector's edition will be the more expensive one... I think. _________________

Dead Space is Alien. I'm hoping Dead Space 2 is Aliens.
I feel the opposite. RE4 is probably one of the best game of all time but it wasn't really a horror game. Dead Space reinvented the genre with genuine fear and creepy, slow paced settings. Playing it on hard makes you carefully explore enviroments, fearing the surprise attack with what little ammo you have left. The best thing about the game was the sound. It was a magnificent achievement in gaming.
For me, DS is one of the most defining games of this gen.
And RE5 is rubbish (not as a game but as a RE title). Capcom dropped the ball and tried to cash in on 1) RE4 and 2) the co-op revolution. It failed on both counts. I hope RE6 takes the series back to it's roots and focuses on a survival horror instead of an action game. _________________ Shin J Leon.

Couldn't of said it better myself. Just the opening moment in the Dead Space 2 demo with surround sound in the darkness of my loungeroom scared the heebee jeebees out of me.
Visceral have accomplished an amazing achievement by carefully setting up a eerie sound stage, to ramp up the tension in virtually an empty environment at the moment, and then BAM you get smacked in the face by something. It's awesome. _________________ Playing: Fallout: New Vegas

Well I never said RE5 was an awesome RE
RE5 along with GTAIV is the most disappointing game I have ever played.RE5 is easily the worst main RE game.
As for DS and being scary, the demo of DS2 scared me a hell of a lot more in about 5 minutes than DS did in the entire game. The hallucination scared the crap out of me and kep me on edge for the rest of the demo.
DS only scared me twice. One where a Necromoroph which I thought was dead, jumped up at me and the very end of the game when you know what jumps out at you. _________________ Welcome to the internet. Where any joke can turn into WWIII.

RE5 when I replayed this year (gold edition) went from a 6/10 game to 8.5-9/10. A lot better but no horror. Its an action game now.
Playing merc online with this 1 guy on PALGN (sorry buddy can't remember your name) = great. Having access to the full DLC made the game a tad better. _________________

Tried the demo earlier. This will be mine, oh yes. The Javelin gun kicks arse. Great little recap video at the start too. Really got me in the mood for some more deep space horror action.
Oh, and a co-sign on the incredible sound design. The first game was an absolute BEAST on the surround sound system. If there ever was a reason to upgrade to a 5.1 system, Dead Space would be the front runner. The demo sounded fantastic too so I've got high hopes the full version will carry the standard. _________________

I believe that only the added Dead Space: Extraction HD remake that comes with it will be. _________________ Playing: Fallout: New Vegas

Just played through the demo and it was a stark reminder than I need to play through Dead Space 1 within the next 30 days. _________________

Yeah the demo was pretty cool, despite not know WTF was going on. Who the heck is Daina? Why was I inside a cryostatis chamber then a Unitology church?
Had that same tense feeling to it, waiting for something to jump out. I still don't think most of the weapons are really that useful though. Plasma cutter and the new Javelin were more than enough. _________________

I think the extra weapons are good when you start playing on more difficult settings (Praise the Ripper when you're desperate for ammo)
As for the who and what the questions, I believe that a lot of things will only be briefly elaborated as you play. (That and the fact the demo places you further into the game, rather than just the intro)
Call it a marketing strategy, or just a bonus for the dedicated fans, the cryostasis chambers (which are in the church) were featured in Dead Space: Ignition, and, if you have a good knowledge of Unitology as a whole (from the games, book, comics and animated film), it makes a lot more sense.
For those of you that haven't played Ignition yet, let's just say that Isaac is somewhat "important" with the church of unitology (although I don't know why myself). _________________ Playing: Fallout: New Vegas

http://www.eurogamer.net/ps3/ - sidebar add says "by the LE and get move free" --- clicking it takes you to the EA store with no mention of the free move - BUT if ture can we expect a similar offer here (perhaps not anounced yet so as not to jeperdise move xmas sales) _________________

I finished the demo before. While I did enjoy it (as a massive fan of Dead Space) this has me worried that it may be too much of the same as the first game.... then again I think I may have just overplayed the first one too much i.e. platinuming it.
Oh well, day 1 buy. _________________

At least in the first game, you'd have an easier time on the hardest difficulty (Impossible?) if you only ever used the Plasma Cutter. Less upgrades to buy, more money for health =) _________________

played the demo on ps3, didn't play long.Got killed by the necromorphs who spat acid and I stopped playing. Gonna get the pc versions. Visuals are a bit ordinary on consoles
*cinemas they had at the intro had bits that looked like this was a wii game. very rough looking. some really cheap looking horror filters in the cinema too. A combination of compression and what they chose to showcase the story with
game looked okay. More of the same which isn't neccesarrily a bad thing. _________________

Tried the demo.
Hilarious game. Not scary at all but more just really upbeat and intense in pace (after Amnesia, NOTHING scares me.). Visuals were very meh on the consoles but I'll be running it in panoramics when the full thing's out anyway. Punching the heads of screeching undead necromorph kids was fun. Also nailing them.
To walls I mean. _________________

I didn't think the first Dead Space was really all that scary, so the demo for this didn't make me feel any different. Lots of fun though, even if I were confined to the bloody PS3 pad. Feels like Dead-Space-More, though with a good degree of polish and additional production values.
One thing I'm not a big fan on is more frequent showing of Isaac's face. You saw it in the first game at the start and at the end, and I kind of like that it was left to your imagination what he was facial reactions were, especially during a gorey kill. _________________

Played the demo, loved it, cannot wait to buy it. I think I will get the ps3 version just so I can play Extraction in HD. Downside to that is I will need to fork out for move. PC to console graphics dont bother me as its the story that really got me into this game, graphics arnt everything. _________________

I'm pretty sure Extraction also supports the Dualshock 3, although I imagine it would be a much more enjoyable experience with Move. _________________
