It damn better be a good update considering it was a 608mb download.
One thing that list doesn't mention is there is now an option to turn off the hud when driving. _________________

That's awesome, I love racers that let you ditch the HUD. That, plus cockpit view, puts me 100% into the game and I actually find I do a lot better because I'm not just looking at stuff to see if I'm doing well, I just, kinda, do it.

Picked this up today.
Enjoying it quite a bit so far. Looks a hell of a lot involved. Coming from a Forza 3 background I think GT5 race tracks look better. I just need to improve my driving a fair bit. _________________

^ Just wait till intermediate level of that event where you're driving an Elise...
I was around level 21 on A-spec and last night thought I'd have a look at the new seasonal events. Damn there's some good money/experience to be had from the events there. Of the five events I've got three golds and a couple of silvers now and that's given me something like nearly 1.5 million credits and put me way into level 23. That's even with having to buy the cars for the events themselves. They pay for themselves almost straight away.
I think some of the events there are designed to show you that sometimes you that tuning of the suspension/transmission/drivetrain of a car is just as important as the power/weight upgrades since you can't really fiddle with the power/weight for the event restrictions. _________________

So the seasonal events aren't actually online races? _________________

^ Nope. They're single player. There's normal races, time trials and drift trials. The normal races are quite good though as they're a decent challenge where you can't just overpower things. 5 laps, rolling start with you in 12th place.
I don't see that the time/drift trials do anything other than give you a position on some leaderboard though. No rewards that I can see. _________________

I think his point is that what's offered in that list really doesn't equate to 600MB's of stuff.

Any one noticed the ghosting in the licenses are different after the update?
They seem to not update to your best lap time. It's really quite annoying. _________________

i happened to be online as it ticked over to midnight last night and i noticed the menu music changed to christmas songs. wonder if this was part of the update.
i don't really mind the large updates as long as it doesn't happen too often.
only took 20 minutes to download.
the money you can make from those seasonal events is crazy. I went on a spending spree and only had 90K left but after doing the seasonals i'm up to 1.7 million and I still haven't got gold in the last event. there's another 300k right there and I'll be buying the veyron.
really great update but I'm dissappointed that you still can't check out friends time trial results.

So I picked this up today and I must say I'm loving it! Reminds me of when I first played GT1. My expectations dropped after the reviews came out but I was pleasantly surprised that it was pretty damn good after all. I have noticed a few frame rate issues but nothing that takes away the fun that is GT. So is everyone still playing this? Anything new to add or am I very late to the party? _________________

I'm still playing, I haven't been playing it constantly but I've been getting some good sessions in. Considering how much I spent on a wheel+stand I damn better play it for a fair while... _________________

I got the LE version of this today with my console. Has the booklet, DLC of cars etc. But I don't think I really want the game again. I wanted the console, not the software.
But is this worth anything these days, or has everyone already purchased it, or hated it already?
Unfortunately as it isn't PAL the Game trade in for another +$28 isn't an option. Ebay has some at $90 but I imagine these stay at that price for months 'cos no one buys 'em. _________________

you would still be able to sell it for atleast $50 (atleast) on ebay, judging by the standard editions on there selling at $46 with multiple bids on. _________________

*Casts resurrection on topic*
I bought GT5 the other day because it was cheap and platinum. As soon as I booted it up I got a gift for the Red Bull X2010 1500BHP super car. This thing is insanely fast. I did about 460km/h on the Nurburgring straight and the turning is fantastic. You can take sharp turns at about 350km/h. It's made any competition in GT Mode a bit of a joke.
