If you really only had one choice, Uncharted series no doubt.
Don't forget all these remakes of the PS2 games to the PS3 if you haven't played them already, like God of War Collection and the Sly ones.
THEMAN is right about being late to the party, a lot of good and decent games is cheeeeeeeeeeeap so focus on those to build up your ps3 collection _________________ "Work hard now, play even harder later"

Killzone 2 is a little overrated imo. It's impressive with it's visual effects and flair, but the framerate suffers as a consequence and I thought the controls were strangely laggy. It's good at educating the player on how many shades of brown are in existence though.
While I'm on the subject of first-person shooters, I know Borderlands is multi-format, but it's worthy of mention if you also have a 360 and you're unsure of what platform to get it for. I think, graphically, I prefer the PS3 version, the textures used are noticeably of a higher resolution. You don't get the bloom/hdr effect that's visible on the 360 version, but overall the PS3 version just looks a lot cleaner imo.
The downsides of the PS3 version however, are that there's no option to play your own music and if you play split-screen, only the active account will get any trophies.
I'm pretty new to PS3 myself. Out of the exclusives I've played, I think that there are probably two 'must-play' games: Uncharted 2 and Heavy Rain.
Uncharted 2 is outstanding in every respect. Graphically, I don't think I've ever seen better. Heavy Rain is different to anything you would've played before (unless maybe if you've played Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit). Like someone has already mentioned, it's not for everyone, so maybe get it from somewhere that has a 7 day return policy. But give it a go.
If you enjoy platformers, Little Big Planet would also be a good choice.

You can play your own music in-game. I do it while playing Tekken all the time. Just copy your music to your console and select a track while using the XMB in-game. _________________

I just double-checked, using music from the PS3's drive.

Damn, unlucky. I thought all newer games supported it. Guess they still haven't implemented it properly. _________________

I agree with Furianshi in regards to Killzone 2. Its a fun game from what I've played, but its far more impressive as a technological benchmark. Very, very pretty, but I think the gameplay is a little generic and uninteresting. Though if you dig the likes of Call of Duty and what not, you'll probably dig Killzone 2 as well, especially with its gorgeous set pieces. _________________
