^ Yep, my thinking too.
Pretty decent episode overall, with a few cringe-worthy moments I'd rather soon forget. Glad to see the grenade finally pay off, even if the handling of it was really awkward. 'Hey, I happen to have carried this grenade around in my purse... can it help durrr...'
I'm not entirely surprised that Darabont is looking to change the writing conditions for next season. At first I thought it was a risky move but I think it might end up being for the best, considering how uneven this season has been. I did enjoy it a lot but compared to AMC's other series, The Walking Dead really doesn't hold up that well in terms of writing quality.
I'm still looking forward to what the future holds for the series. Unfortunately for us, that future is about a year away... _________________

Enjoyed the finale, I do wish this season was longer. The ending felt like Breaking Bad's season 1 finale.
With 10 months till season 2, the wait will be painful.
At least I got my gf watching a show with zombies.

Spending my morning reading the comics, and I gotta say, they kinda went off track from the comic storyline, then again, if you hadn't read the comics before it wouldnt really matter. I think I'm liking the comic a lot more though. _________________

I agree Zhou the comic is awesome and its stupid for them not to follow it like a anime would with the manga.... They said something about well comic people wouldn't like that because they will know whats going on and get bored well again i think about anime and that is just not the case....
I really hope for season 2 they get back to the comics and stop giving us filler aka cdc _________________

I read in a interview that any major detours from the comic will only last 1-2 episodes.

No way man, dont agree at all. I reckon it was extremely epic, what more would you want from a zombie drama tv series?? _________________

So I just finished reading the comic..and all I can say is WOW.
Theres no way in hell they could work in the crazy storyline from the comic into the series without making it totally ridiculous.
For those who have a spare few hours, I HIGHLY recommend reading the walking dead comic. _________________

Zombies?
Seriously though, I just didn't enjoy those episodes as much as the other four. I'd tell you what they were lacking but I really haven't thought about it that much or care enough to do so. _________________

Ep number 6 was bad. Crappy writing. Would've been good if they stuck to the excellent storyline in the comic, but this stuff is weak. _________________ I'd be apathetic, but I can't be arsed.

I spent the last 2 days reading issue 1 to issue 80. Man I can't wait till the prison arc to come on tv. That might have to wait till season 3.

I think its better than what youre imagining.
Scene 1, Kill zombies
Scene 2, Run from zombies
Scene 3, Hide
Scene 4, Hear odd sounds...CLIMAX END!
The line in ep 6, "What do you think this place is? its the CDC, Nothing was supposed to ever leave here" was epic (Along those lines)
Finding the safest spot in a zombie apocalypse, is actually a grave, powerful drama relating to zombie apocalypse (Taking your own life without pain, if given the chance). Stuff like that. It was refreshing, compared to the stock standard of 'Run'n'Gun' "Yeeehaww i be shooting me some zombies!! lolol!!111!"
But whatevs. _________________

I finally sat and watched the first season over the weekend.
SPOILERS
Agreed that the first four episodes were more fun, because running around killing zombies is always awesome. But, realistically, the stuff that happens in episodes 5 & 6 has to come in at some point. It happens in all good zombie flicks. At some point you need to stop hiding and look for what is left of the government.
Was great to watch all in one hit, will likely do the same for season two... which means I'll be waiting about a year at this stage. _________________

Exactly, ep 5 and 6 should've been the jail. _________________ I'd be apathetic, but I can't be arsed.

That would've been cool too but the jail arc is good enough to be it's own full season. _________________

I still haven't watched past episode one. Honestly having trouble getting the nerve to watch it just due to how many unnecessary changes were made. _________________

Yeah it seems they are drawing it out big time. Personally I think the show waffles too much, whereas the comic gets down and dirty. Too many main characters are still alive also.

Yeah i think i watched a interview with the people who are doing the tv show and they said they do not want to follow strictly to the comic cause the people who have read the comics would find it boring. I am like you idiot think of manga and anime they follow it very closely and how bad of a mistake they are making.... Hopefully season 2 will be more to the comics but who knows.... _________________

Do any of you guys know when this is hitting Oz? Anybody heard anything? Just wondering if it's worthwhile waiting or ordering from Amazon now.

The Walking Dead game details
| Quote: | I love zombies. Whether I'm lopping their rotting heads off with a machete in a video game or reading about them devouring the living in a comic, I can never get enough of the undead. That's why I'm especially excited that Telltale Games -- the creators of other licensed games like Back to the Future and Jurassic Park -- are bringing Robert Kirkman's fantastic graphic novel series, The Walking Dead, to PC (and most likely consoles).
If you haven't read the comics, don't be turned off by the fact that it involves zombies...the thing that actually makes the series great are the gripping stories of human survivors and how they relate to one another in the midst of an apocalyptic zombie outbreak (AMC's TV show based on the series translates this pretty well, too).
And that's exactly what Telltale's focusing on with their new game, the relationships of those still alive in a world overrun by flesh eating hordes. Only The Walking Dead video game doesn't focus on series protagonist Rick Grimes, his son Carl, or the rest of the survivors from the graphic novels. The game focuses on two entirely new characters: a young girl named Clementine and a man named Lee.
When the game begins, a "roamer" zombie causes a car accident transporting Lee, who's revealed to be a prisoner. "He gets his freedom, but obviously in pretty horrible circumstances," says Telltale Executive Producer Kevin Boyle, who notes that Lee's backstory plays a key role in the game. "You'll learn what really went on, and why he was in the spot that he was in. It adds this layer of information that people are going to react to in different ways. He's this heroic figure, but he's also not squeaky clean." And while Lee and Clementine will be the primary characters in The Walking Dead game, Boyle says that there will be some overlap with characters fans are familiar with. "Our general take, though, is creating a story with characters player's aren't familiar with," Boyle explains.
Making a video game based on The Walking Dead that doesn't center on the same characters from the comics is a bold move, but it's one that The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman fully supports as he's actively involved in the game's direction and design.
Telltale stresses it's important that players don't know how events in the game will pan out, so that they'll have to struggle with the tough decisions they're forced to make. "The heart of what we want to get to is presenting players with those struggles of what's the right choice when presented with two equally awful decisions," Boyle says.
The Walking Dead series, however, isn't only about relationships. It's also about constantly fleeing from packs of hungry zombies. "The threat of this unrelenting force that just keeps coming and coming and coming until you're dead...that needs to be there to feel like a Walking Dead game," Boyle adds. "The zombies are no small part of this." |
