I've been making some comedy sketches with some friends. Bogan Bargains is proving popular. The Jamie Dreary one has it's moments, it's actually better to view it in high quality though as it loses some subtlety in lo-res, you can't see Ivan's eye acting for example which is one of the funnier moments at the start.
URLs in my sig. I'm hoping to make new ones regularly and get them up. _________________ I make videos of varying hilarity

I found the funny links thread and posted there, thanks for the tip.

Really? thanks, the smutty lyrics thing was just something I improvised while trying to record the portal song.
I'd said on hyper that I'd post myself singing the portal song then had the house to myself one night and tried recording it. It was stinking hot and I had the house shut up so as not to alert the nieghbours, and felt really sick but was determined to get it out. Problem was that I just couldn't get through the whole song without screwing it up, must have restarted 80 times, it took hours to get it complete in one take.
The out takes are too long in retrospect but I was having fun with the editing software and let myself get carried away.
Bogan Bargains was great fun to do though. The soundtrack is cut together from heaps of takes because I couldn't get from line to line without cracking up. _________________ I make videos of varying hilarity

I watched the portal one too, and found the outtakes to be the best part. They cracked me up.
Ubercaptain was alright, probably the weakest I watched. And I liked parts of Jamie Dreary but felt it probably dragged on a bit too long.

Yes, that's me playing Jamie Dreary as well as Bonza Barry.

That's interesting because most people have preferred the Bogans one.
I had a very basic idea for "Passion for Plantlife" to just improvise this really boring guy talking about plants. The whole joke was meant to be that it was boring and plants are boring. Jamie Durie and that knob from Backyard Blitz have been having a spat in the media about who has the least boring gardening show, it's a bit ridiculous.
Anyway, as I was heading off to my friends house to film it and Bogans, I grabbed some stuffed toys and the skull, having this idea that he'd find them under a bush and it would be awkward.
We filmed a bunch of material that was all just improvised. Roman (who played Ivan Milat..ovich) went and found random items and annoyances then would interrupt me trying to talk about plants. The vast majority of that material was left out, as we went the story started to emerge (eg the bit with staking up the plant with the garotte was filmed very late, after we'd done things with the knife and rope and put the two together.)
I think the final result needs to be a minute shorter, or it could even be just opening credits, tiny bit of footage, kills Jamie then closing credits and it would be punchy and funny. Someday I might even make an alternative edit. Making it was stacks of fun though. There's a few points in the final version where I can hear Marissa (who was on camera) stifling laughs. _________________ I make videos of varying hilarity

I liked the bogan bargains cause it grabbed me off the mark, and was superbly done, but the jamie dreary i can see where you were going but seemed too stretched out for my liking leaving me to not give a fk about seeing more than 1 min into it. _________________

The pace of one so far outstrips the other that viewing together makes the garden one lose out. it's also about 2 mins too long I think and will probably come back to it with a shorter version that hits the marks more quickly. The loss of resolution over youtube makes a difference though, what you can see from the original file is lost, I'm very into subtle face and eye acting, Roman's timing with his eyes at the start is terrific for example but lost on youtube.
I made a facebook group to update when new ones are released.

Just finished watching Bogan Bargains, Fisherman, Hitler and the Gardening one.
I absolutely loved the bogan bargains and although I thought it drifted off a little at the end, it is easily better comedy than found on most skit shows these days.
I just couldn't really get into the Gardening one, although I could see the potential comedy moments.
I admit I was really unimpressed with the Hitler one up until the end, I thought it was going to a different conclusion but the ending was absolutely classic.
The Fisherman skit was also great comedy, it was predictable from about half way through, but in the good kind where you are better able to laugh along with the joke as well as after the punchline - although it should be a little shorter as it would be a quick skit between longer ones IMO
Amazing stuff all up though,
I hope you make some more,
BTW - where is the still allive one, I can't seem to find it.
