As in, the dashboard beta from last month? If so, damn, no free goodies for me. =P
I've convinced myself that as soon as Child of Eden comes out, I am getting myself one of these things. That game is going to be like an acid trip. |
I don't know about Children of Eden and Kinect. Yeh it looked awesome when the guy was palying it with a tv the size of him and the stuff was moving exactly where his hands were but I don't see it working that great in the finished product. And just the fact that it will have normal controls that won't have the kinect lag will make it an unattractive option.

So anyone getting it? I will have eb credit so will be matching big w's deall and getting adventures and sonic free riders. 2 games and kinect for 198 aint bad at all.
Microsoft will push publishers to create games for kinetc and I would love to see it used in most games for voice commands if they are used to command a squad for instance.
Only game I really want is dance central, which I will be playing alone in my room with the door locked haha _________________

LOL!!!
I'm the same! My partner and I play DDR with the dance mats (on PC) at home and she can do the same on the arcades, but I wouldn't be seen dead

Yeah, same here. I find the idea of it intriguing, but there's just no games that even remotely interest me at this point. _________________

Meh, I'll wait until we've got it at work for 100 bucks and buy it then... oh, and when I have a lounge room where I have more than two feet between the tv and the couch.

well I bought the budle traded sonic for 66 bucks so it cost me around 130 with a game. This also means I do not have to buy 2nd controllers as well as being able to video chat and use it as a mic etc.
Its a lot better than I expected. Adventures works fine and is pretty fun with 2 people. Just dont expect much and its a decent game but lacks ALOT of content.
You do need a bit of room for 1 of the 2 player games (one where you have to duck and jump over pillars)
Dance central however shows what a good dev can do with the tech. its amazingly accurate. If your leg or arm our out of place it knows.
The most suprising thing however was the demo for joyride. I read how bad the controls were and I thought the game was a joke since you do not accelerate yourself. Howevere, it was alot of fun. It was kind of like modnation racers (without customization and more family friendly). I will pick it up when it drops in price.
This is a pretty good sign for forza 4 if they were to add a kinect mode just for a change every now and than.
I also let my mum play around with it and my gf will be 2moro and so far it seems very good for non gamers. Even the wii was too difficult for some, but this is for everyone really.
If anyone wants to know anything just ask. I now I kinda sounded like a casual gamer, but im not and spent most of my time today play AC brotherhood online which is pretty good _________________

I agree I thought it was better then I expected to.. That adventures game really surprised me. I managed to get dance central which is pretty damn good.. Think I'll get that active 2 game and sports in the next few weeks. I really didn't noticed any lag either _________________

I picked up the Kinect bundle, Dance central and kinect sports yesterday. I only played kinect adventures with my wife for about 45 minutes last night, but I was amazed how accurate it was. Also it was a cinch to setup. After the 45 minute session in which In which we played through the 1st badge or whatever it is in Adventures, I was absolutely knackered. It is very true what they say about space though. We have a large lounge room and with two players I had to move the couch way back to make more room. Can't wait to try out the other games tonight.

Thats what ultimately stopped my purchase. Room.
I live in an apartment with thin floors with my GF. Jumping up and down, not cool. Also, loungeroom has a table and gaming room has couches and cupboards leaving NO room for this.
Bummer. Maybe when I get a house. Sounds cool for casual fun. _________________

If you're struggling for room with Kinect, place it up high.
Below the TV, Kinect Adventures would place me squarely in the Good zone. At around 6' off the ground, it places me borderline in the Best zone. Was even able to play multiplayer, and Dance Central now sees my whole body clearly instead of chopping off my head and feet.
The camera will automatically angle itself down on calibration to fit you nicely in the frame. _________________

Picked up mine yesterday.
I have to same I am impressed by the tech.
At first I noticed a bit of lag in Kinect Adventures and wasn't too impressed, but that changed as soon as I popped in Dance Central.
As said above, this game really shows what a good dev can do with the tech, it's accurate and actually a lot of fun (not a big dancer, mainly bought it for drunken xbox nights).
Also, the interface is very cool, total Minority Report feel. _________________ http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197997175012

All I see is pictures of people launching their small children and pets across the room. Or sending their foot through the TV (mines pretty close to the couch).
I've heard Dance Central is done very well, I'm not even remotely interested in it but I am glad that the tech works and they were able to use it in an efficient manner....it bodes well for what developers will come up with in the future.
Overall all though, I'm interested in it, but I probably wouldn't use it long term, still prefer relaxing when I game as I usually do it when I come back from a run or a day at uni etc _________________

That is correct. Yes it makes no sense at all. We should not be punished because we are apparently part of europe or whatever they think.
Voice works great as well and so much less effort than using your hand.
As everyone is saying dance central is pretty amazing. If you fell kinect aint working it is obviously the games fault because the decent devs have made it work very well.
Had a video kinect session with a mate. It is pretty damn fun and the camera works so well following you around the room and zooming on your face etc.
Its great that you can log onto your msn messenger and not just be limted to 360 friends _________________
