Well, as some of you may have read from PALGN's news page about it
(Seen here: http://palgn.com.au/pc-gaming/17691/psychonauts-creator-keen-to-create-sequel/)
Psychonauts 2 is all but ready to be thought about beginning to start the process of being made. Rumours of this glorious moment have surfaced ever since the first game was released and bought by a small group of people, that slowly expanded into a well deserved and decently sized cult fanbase.
These rumours were pushed further when many years ago, the Psychonauts website had a 'new content' page, featuring a Psychonauts banner across the top. Fans went wild to say the least, but this turned out to merely be a fan site with extra Psychonauts content.
But now at long last, the rumour has some actual proper hoenst to goodness sort of evidence to back it up!
"I'm ready to do it. I'd love to do it. It's really a question of getting a publisher who's interested in doing it." - Tim Schafer
I for one, would be overjoyed, ecstatic, and quite simply gobsmacked and speechless for days were this game to ever come to fruition (some of you may have noticed from my sig, I'm sort of a fan, props to doppelgang for that, again, btw)
In celebration of this, to promote the sequel (and due to my brothers copy living away from home with my newly moved out brother) I'm buying this game via XBLA, and I urge anyone who hasn't played it to do the same, or buy it off Steam, or borrow a mates copy or DO WHATEVER but you'd better play it.
And in conclusion, a quick question I'd like to get some feedback to, What didn't anyone like about this game, if anything. Is there anything (apart from some of the more obvious i.e graphics, stuff that comes with the new gen) that people want improved or anything? Because personally, nothing comes to mind that was at all bad from that game apart from some very slight camera problems and a ridiculous learning curve hike towards the last level of the game (which was still thoroughly enjoyable)
Fun Fact: To give a quick idea to those who are not knowing, this was one of the only games to be given a good review by Yahtzee of Zero Punctuation fame (given, people didn't seem to like his 'good' reviews, so he stopped doing them, but still, he makes you cripple your fingers just to prove a point)

Thank you or sitting through this fanboy's comments, enjoy the news, and commence discussion. _________________

So, you can buy this off XBLA? I didn't know that.
To be honest, I don't know too much about the game ... what it involves or what it's about ... But I do know a lot of people love it to bits and praise it highly. I guess I never really paid attention to it because I thought that I'd probably never be able to play it.
I'm guessing it's some sort of platformer, right?
It might be interesting to check it out. It might be a good idea to buy it one day without any preconceptions.
Nice post, by the way! _________________

Is Psychonauts on PSN as well? I've always wondered what the fuss was about.

I got about 4-5 hours in the original and couldn't get into it at all. Sure, it was okay, but no where near the level of awsomeness that some people blew it up to be.

Don't think so, it's under x-box classics on the 360. _________________

Agreed. The platforming was generic and the storyline/premise felt like a bad ABC kids cartoon.
IMO, it wasn't even worth the $2 it cost me on Steam. _________________

I want the sequel to have no more collect-a-phon moments.

While I totally understand that, (seeing as the first few brains of the game are a bit slow) The brilliance of the game for me came with the overall experience, The gameplay isn't the crispest but it's by no means bad, but the dialogue is top notch with incredibly clever written lines, and even the body movements of the characters complement the tones of the delivered lines, which is something rarely done (effectively) in games nowadays. Especially given that some of the later levels of the game are where it really picks up as you delve into brains with decreasing amounts of sanity, leading to weirder and funner over all experience. But I digress.

Well depending on how far you got into it, "getting merit badges at a summer camp" isn't quite as awesome as "Stopping a psychic invasion while commanding a slew of psychic powers to prevent a brain stealing mental asylum." But your mileage may vary. _________________

While I loved it I found a lot of the puzzles especially in the later game were way too obtuse, I was stuck on that fucking Spanish bull level for ages. _________________

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!!!!
I am on the road crew, this is my stop sign!
Seriously, I freakin LOVE Psychonauts. God, i'd kill for a sequel. Everyone wants BG&E 2, but i'm all up for Psychonauts 2.
As for the criticism, i've always found it a love it or hate it game. You either love the feel, presentation, humour and fun, or hate the platforming. For me, it's beyond a platformer and collect a thon, it's more of an experience. One of the few games that still gives me that awesome feeling when I think about it. _________________
