There are a whole bunch of posters and shit up for it at my local cinema. I've been trying to not find out anything about it cause it looks like the kind of movie that will be better with no info. _________________

Yeah not the smartest move I've ever made, but at least I haven't watched the youtube clip yet. So all I know is that there's blue lighting. _________________

Yeah it was pretty rough for me too. Sorry I should have found a better clip. I thought it was my speakers at first but obviously it's the video.... _________________

Actually saw the preview at the cinema the other day. Looked like more of the same: alians, organic looking robots, invasion of LA. So should be good. _________________ Da Bessssss

Just got back from it.
Was really good and totaly not what I expected.
Ended up being more cloverfield (without the shakey cam) then ID4. Basicaly the entire movie takes place in one apartment block with the survivors freaking out and hiding from the aliens.
It also does a pretty good job of making daylight scary.
[EDIt] Also I just read that the entire movie was written, directed and financed by two brothers.
When you take that into account the stuff they pull off in this movie is fucking phenomenal. _________________

At first I thought it was something of an Independence Day. I like the idea of the movie for the simple fact that it destroys america. Even if it is only LA. Bravo ridiculously strange aliens. Bravo

Really that's all it takes?
Uh, it's not exactly unique to this movie. Hell look at like 50% of Roland Emmerich film career. _________________

Well if it harks back to Independence Day, I guess it can't be all that bad...or can it.

well this movie is getting absolutely savaged by critics. I honestly didn't find it that bad but I'm pretty impervious to bad movies and will enjoy any old shit. _________________

I said I liked the idea, not that I like the movie. I don't understand why an alien race, obviously as advanced as they are would waste their time in appearing so suddenly to capture so many humans. I would think that they would have far more sophisticated means for appropriation and destruction. But each to their own I suppose. After all we are discussing an alien race. For what purpose they are taking all these people I don't know, and honestly I don't really care. I'm not questioning their motives, merely applauding their apparent distaste for america.

Really it's got nothing to do with America, they hit world wide. The characters just happen to be in LA
And spoilers

I saw the trailer and posters for this and laughed hysterically at how bad it looks. Not even going to bother contemplating seeing it, just looks like lame hollywood cgi and crappy acting. It's gotten to the point where I'm not even remotely impressed by the special effects in films, there's nothing they can't do when they throw ridiculous amounts of money at it.
Also one of the actors in it plays a character I absolutely hate from Six Feet Under, I want to punch his stupid face every time I see it. _________________

It was made for half the budget of the latest jackass movie. It's pretty impressive to see what they can do on that budget. _________________

As far as I know it was a privately made film by two brothers, who financed it themselves. From what I've read online, it cost them ~$10 million to make the film. They have already made that back on the opening weekend.
Considering the $$$ that went into it, I think it looks pretty damn good. _________________

Wow did not know that was so cheap. Completely different kind of effects film though. It was pretty much all practical and on such a limited scale I can't imagine it would really be that expensive. _________________

oh what the hell am I talking about.
For some reason that I can't place when you said The Room, I thought you we're talking about 1408 with John Cusack.
Uh yeah just ignore me, I have no idea why I made that connection.
1408 is awesome though. _________________

Well uh, they both have a room?
Fucked if I know.
Incidentally, after going on about how 1408 would probably be cheaper then skyline, it actually cost more then double Skyline's budget at 25 million. _________________
