Got this game the other day and really want to get into it, but the performance issues are shocking. I tried the dx9.dll fix and that just causes the game to crash.. so hopefully Bethesda come out with a patch soon! At the moment the framerate is terrible and laggy even though my PC should be able to run it max out..

Yes! Me too, this is exactly the kind of crap I am experiencing.
Running a Core 2 Duo E6850 @3.00GHz (Watercooled, so definately not overgeating or anything)
Asus P5K-SE Mobo
2x Sticks Amicroe DDR2 667, 1x Corsair DDR2 667
Gigabyte GTX 470
850W Thermaltake Toughpower CPU
None of the above is or has ever been overclocked.
Can't figure out why this won't work well enough _________________

I've been playing the PC version for about 15 hours and it hasn't crashed on my yet. I do get this weird white sparkle occasionally that comes off enemies. It's kind of hard to explain but it's there and noticable. The framerate is absolutely terrible too despite my computer meeting the ultra settings (well that's what it tells me).

Any word on when they are patching the "Required DLC does not exist" error on 360? Or just any patches in general? Apparently its common when you complete the "Come Fly With Me" quest, which I did about an hour before I saved and got corrupted. I've read Obsidian is aware of the problem, but I think they are waiting until they fix enough bugs to release a big enough patch. Very annoyed. _________________

^ Ditto. Have the exact same problem, also caused by completing Come Fly With Me, and I won't be touching the game until it's fixed. Unfortunately, after trawling the official New Vegas forums, the general concensus on the ETA of a new patch is NFI.
Seriously, did Obsidian do ANY testing at all before this game went gold? The fact that such a common game-breaking bug even exists is absolutely mind-boggling - doubly so that it STILL HASN'T BEEN PATCHED YET, even though the game has been out for weeks.
Ridiculous.

While all this is true, they deserved to be hammered because of one stupid fact; nearly ALL these bugs existed in Fallout 3, and ALL these bugs have made their way into New Vegas. It's ridiculous. For example, the other day, Easy Pete from Goodsprings decided to go to the middle of the Wasteland for no reason. Being Level 2, I needed to reach him, but there were about 50 Radscorpions in the way. I eventually resorted to just teleporting myself to him via console commands, and then fast travelling back. On last check, he is *still* there after 50 hours game time >.< _________________

I agree, many of these bugs have been reborn in NV, its like Bethesda just handed the entire game to Obsidian, and they just reskinned it without bothering to go through and fix some of these annoying bugs and performance issues, not to mention one horribly game-breaking bug where people lose days worth of effort.
Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining that the gameplay and animations are virtually the same, Fallout 3 was almost perfect so why change that dramatically, I'm relishing the chance to basically replay Fallout 3 in an entirely new setting....its just the fact that they had all their work cut out for them and they didn't bother to properly test and debug the thing, very disapointing.
I can almost guarantee that they knew about the "DLC does not exist" bug before they released the game, there was a similar issue in Fallout 3. And I can almost guarantee they have probably created a fix for it. But they're biding their time by fixing some other bugs so they can release a sizeable enough patch that most people are satisfied, as opposed to just those who have lost tens of hours of work. _________________

for those on PC having performance issues, goto http://www.fallout3nexus.com and get the nvidia/ATI .dll file which enhances performance, i tried to find the link but couldnt and i have to go out so i cant have a good look. i got the files for my nvidia card there (i bookmarked the site) and i couldnt believe the difference in performance it made.
i went from medium settings with no AA or AF to high with 4xAA and 16xAF and it runs better than it did on medium.

Wow that fix has done wonders. I'm getting pretty much a consistent 60fps now.

OMFG... starting to get very, very pissed off now.
Glitches are getting ridiculous. Forget animation glitches, those I can live with. I've just experience the strip glitch.
Killing a certain someone on the strip and decapitating him has caused the game to crash on entering the strip everytime. The workaround? Wear a freakin cowboy hat. wth??? Did Obsidion even do bug testing??? _________________

Man, I must be pretty damn lucky, I dont recall running into a single glitch, even after doing all the thorn missions (apparently the most bug ridden part of the game) nothing has happened. _________________

I've encountered very few bugs. There's been a few crashes here and there, and a few people getting stuck on things, but nothing that wasn't solved by reloading a quicksave - The Pc version, by the way. I had so many game-breaking bugs in Fallout 3, I'm glad to see an improvement, however slight. _________________

I encountered a pain in the rectum glitch last night. Found the Lake Mead Cave and every time I enter it, the game locks up on the loading screen and I need to reset the XBox. Twice in a row it happened! _________________

I'm about 20 hours in, 60 or so locations discovered and it just somehow feels lackluster in comparison on F3. The story just doesn't feel cohesive. I've hit about 2 freeze glitches, but that's about what i expected. That said, i know what i'll be doing as soon as i get home from work today.

Goodness, how do you do it man? I've been playing flat out and I've only played for 28 hours. There's so much to do, so many quests, so many locations, that it's a little overwhelming.

Just from the few hours I got to play the story didn't feel as good as Fallout 3.I liked starting out as a baby, then growing up to be a kid then a teenager then a young adult. _________________ Welcome to the internet. Where any joke can turn into WWIII.

I personally think the start to New Vegas will be better in the long run, the start to Fallout 3 admittedly was pretty cool but on subsequent playthroughs it just became a chore. I very much like the *bam* straight into the wasteland feel New Vegas has, also it's pretty cool how you are in the players shoes more literally this time. If you haven't read about the plot beforehand you have no idea wtf is going down.
That said, I could just be spouting fanboy here as I really quite like New Vegas better so far. It's actually possible to get into Vegas earlier on whilst it wasn't that easy to get into DC so early into the game. I also like how many locations aren't all that big and fancy, for a desert it makes sense for it to be that way. I found in Fallout 3 it was very much "walk through nothing, now have a building with 500 rooms to grind through". Thing I like most about it though NO METROS! I hated those soooo much. _________________

Once you realize the vault is just an extended tutorial, it gets really old, really quick.
I am finding New Vegas much more satisfying, although I can't shake the feeling the the world feels...smaller. Maybe it's just me, or maybe it's because I'm playing through this game a lot more thoroughly than I did FO3... _________________

I only played throught the beginning once and saved before the character creation screen of Fallout 3. Did the same with Oblivion. I can't see how you were bothered with it.

i saved it at the front door of the vault where you can change your stats and have avoided the start to fallout 3 ever since. _________________ kill, kill, kill.....the white man. Kill the white man, kill
