Gargh I want it now! I still don't understand how it controls though....do you just control a single player or what?

I'm guessing it would play like FIFA controlling one player at a time but being able to change players while playing

so far I like what I see.
It's good to see that they are taking a lot of care with this game.
I just hope that the camera angles don't screw this game up.
If the the whole game graphics were to look like Swans arm then visually it will look great.
The whole bouncing idea is interesting and I like that you can take that kinda control.
I wonder if they will include a play mode where you play through the season as one player, like FIFA does.
Can't wait for this one

we have quite a few rules and by laws if you think about it.

ooh that would be interesting, to have players getting reported for high contact or something, and to have an AI decide the penalty and work out the points system. Maybe even include text based options to pled guilty or not guilty to the charge and options to contesting the charge.

**** that... make the on field gameplay actually good, and then refine it for a few years before bothering about the tribunal. Though I'm sure the game could do a better job than the people the AFL has in place.

In a nutshell - the most important thing about Sports games for me is Computer AI and Controls.

That's why i have never really rated any of the EA titles cause they seem to focus on making the game pretty.

Pro Evo series 1 through to 3 got it spot on. Gameplay was perfect because you could build your play and you had to play both offense and defense. You also had great control and many options at your fingertips.

With AFL its such a fast paced game its quite difficult - plus they have to model the AI of 36 players on the field. The most important thing is to have a flow in the game and have some tactics on the fly like PES. If you want to have a tight game you can switch to that but also if you want to take some risks and play on and get some run into the team you can and your team will try to create options and leave their man. The camera angle is important too - you want to see at least one long kick away - probably a bit difficult but its really important.

On defense you want to be able to control your players and spoil the mark. I think the AI will need to take over a little bit - its such a team game these days you can't control everything.

Another really important thing that PES does well is that the players are quite individualised and all have their strengths and weaknesses.

Ah AFL video games: so many memories:

Remeber the game where substitions didn't work in season mode?

Remember the game where every player looked like Gumby?

Remember the game where they removed the instant snap button and replaced it with the incredibly slow aiming mechanic?

Remember the game you could take a speccy on an invisible player?

Remember the game when all the indigenous players had white skin?

Remember the game that was so bad they re-released it, minus the bugs, a couple of months later as "Premiership Edition?

Remember the game where if your were lining up for the winning goal after the siren an opponent could just keep bumping you until the game just ended?

I do.

Although I think this game will be far from the best game ever made, I am really looking forward to it, I remember having massive intense games on AFL 2004 and even 98 just for the simple fact that it was footy!
