Hey guys,
I just got one of the new Cable plans telstra are rolling out, the 200GB cable one after hearing my friend was getting 30 mbp/s! To my stupidy and eagerness I ordered to get self-installation without checking there was cable running through my house.
Now I just called them and found out we have to either cancel and re-order to get the professional installation done for free, or alternatively look for perhaps a cheaper option out there, who can install cable within the house and perhaps add additional outlets anyway to compensate for the not-getting-of-free-cable-installation haha.
Anyway, what you guys think I should do? _________________ xfire = andylulz

Thing is it involves some complications. First they have to come back, and retrieve the modem that has already arrived, the order than has to be replaced, so I have to wait another week, plus I think we were gonna have 3 outlets, so an additional two outlets = $110. So now thats an extra week of waiting and $110 extra, where as if I could find a cable installer to come in tomorrow and do it for $200, that would be good.
I guess my real quesiton was, has anyone hired out private electricians or any of the like to install cable, and if so what was the price like? _________________ xfire = andylulz

Its alright, thanks for the delayed replies though .
Got it installed, and has been one of the worse months ever for an ISP (outage for a whole week during exam period, especially when I needed to download alotta PDFs! amongst either things, flawed system that does not correctly input appointments causing me to waste a whole day waiting for no one , TWICE)
Still gonna get motivated to write that complaint letter to get two free months. Buuut, and yes a big but, the internet is kick ass. Very fast, 200 gb, and only about $77 (reduced from $100 due to us having a home phone line and mobile service with telstra).
The bastard technician didn't want to lay cables up to where I wanted it, and I impressed this upon him several times but he seemed real determined NOT to install it. I just wanted internet and didn't wanna cause a commotion. We had a coxial port already but downstairs, meaning I would have to use wireless and my two PCs now need USB devices, as opposed to just having the modem up here. P.S. We actually ordered to have an additional Coaxial port, so I did not understand why he was so hung up about not wanting to install another one, another example of their flawed communication between contracted technicians.
Anyway, becareful with Telstra as always, bloody hit and miss. _________________ xfire = andylulz
