Hmm interesting, I was hoping though that it would be more like a PSPGo with phone and UMD capabilities. And a better design.
Ohwell would like to see more of it =]

If you can't play PSP games, this is the most massive FAIL I've ever seen. _________________ Shin J Leon.

seriously making this phone is such a no brainer for how to make it good and they fucked it up?
Make a PSP, but it has a phone in it.
Simple sold. _________________

Can someone send Sony an iPhone and save them a bunch of cash? They could maybe use it to get GT5 out the door.

10cm screen? even if that's diagonal, that's still bigger than a iPhone screen.. I think it could work as a branded smartphone if they develop a decent o/s for it like Android/iPhone and not just rely on it purely as Sony Gaming + a phone. _________________

I hope they don't make it feel like a smartphone. I can't stand them.
But yeah quite disappointed this won't be supporting PSP/2 games, I honestly hope they make a cross-over version of the PSP2-PSPhone as I would definitely jump on that.

Agreed. I wont even bother with this thing unless you can play some PSP games.
Battery life is the other thing... _________________

I'm very skeptical about the success of this device (well with not much information given about there's alot to wonder.)
But the smart phone is a very competitive market these days, and I just see this as either being a good phone and fail gaming system or vice versa.
It's too hard to boast a dedicated gaming system on a device that's priorities lie in making calls (well, more in-depth games anyway, Iphone has a lot of success in Angry Birds and Doodle Jump.)

Considering there's no nub I doubt there will be much PSP game support, except for games that dont require it. _________________

That's true, but that thing that looks like a track pad would probably be replacing the nub - It probably wont feel as good sliding your thumb for movement but it's possible(think Iphone).
As long as the thing can play Breath of Fire III, Half Minute Hero and all my downloaded PS1 games... I might give the thing a chance. _________________

I'll reserve final judgment for the final product but I would have expected more. I'm not sure Sony really knows where they're trying to go with this, but rather it's a belated, unformed attempt to try and compete with WP7 and the iPhone.
While the latter two start with trying to get a good phone experience and then add entertainment, I don't think Sony will have much luck with the reverse strategy. Utility comes before entertainment.

Eh seems like a smart move by Sony, looks like a placeholder product to get into the app gaming market. They are probably betting that Android will take off and cut into Apples marketshare a bit more, I'm sure Sony would be pleased to help with that. _________________

Doesnt sound too bad. Any new device that'll keep people entertained is a good device. There sure are a lot of haters on here for no reason... seems to happen whenever someone announces a new console/device. _________________

So are you buying one then?
I think you'll find your 'haters' are just disappointed it's not as slick as they hoped/imagined. _________________

The touch pad has the two metal bits on it with circular parts around it - doesn't that look like a touch-pad version of two analogue sticks (despite how dodgy it may be in reality) - am I living in false hope?
