I've tried to play zerg, but unless you know all the hotkeys and are pro at hotkeying everything, it's heaps hard.

sure about that one? the patch notes only specifically say it's for voids, though it definately wouldn't be the first time they'd left changes out.
| Denny wrote: | | Also, Reapers are now useless early game. |
i get that they want to make the early reaper harrassment less viable, but aren't they basically only useful early on anyway? don't think i've ever seen reapers past mid game. |
It is for voids, as it's a nerf to their charge levels. What I'm saying though is that if you want to make your Voids more worth it, upgrading the weapon levels would be viable. This'd also encourage Carriers to be produced because Carriers with upgrades is insanely strong.
The reason Reapers aren't used in later areas of the game is because people haven't experimented with it. A lot of Terrans were riding the race into victory with fast proxy reapers and harassments early on. Also, you've seen how much damage a small pack of them can do to buildings right? They snipe buildings REALLY fast, and I can see it being viable in mid-late as surprise tactics, particularly because at this point your macro should be flying. QXC is a notable high level terran that uses them time to time in mid-late. _________________

Switching to Grid hotkeys makes learning them far, far easier.
Here's how I use my control groups:
1 ground units
2 air units (or secondary ground group)
3 casters
4 all hatcheries
5 all queens
Having all your hatcheries in one group makes producing units really simple. Hit 4, select larvae, pick your units.
Having all your queens in one groups makes spawning larvae easy. Select the queens, trigger spawn larvae, hold shift and click on all your hatcheries in the mini map. The closest queen with mana will then move to and inject on each hatchery _________________

Mmmmyyeahhh I've been testing the Void Ray out a bit today, and I'm starting to not really like this nerf. Considering its cost and fragility, for what it is capable of doing now, it's hardly worth it.
Needs more playing around with, but so far my thoughts are changing quite fast..overnerf methinks. Feels a bit like Blizz finally giving into all the newbies in team games complaining about Voids since beta. Meanwhile in 1v1, fast VR harass on Terran will be far less viable and likely not worth doing, as the investment is too much. Also, a VR cannot win against a Queen in a 1v1. Like, it flat out loses against something half its cost.
Not digging it. _________________

This is my hotkey setup;
1) Melee
2) Ranged (or specific baneling groups in zvz)
3) Flying
4) Main Hatch
5) Natural expo
6) Third expo
9)upgrade building (either evo chamber or spire)
0) all my hatcherys, with the rally points set to the same position.
double tapping 4,5 or 6 brings you to the hatchery, and you can just click your queen and press v for larvae, there's no real need to hotkey your queen - swapping to your hatch and back to your force is much easier than trying to hotkey your queens/hatch/force.
If the game goes into late-game, i build my additional hatcherys at the locations of my 4,5 and 6 hatcherys. This way when i double tap 4,5,6 to go back to them, select my queen, then i can quickly double 'v' for larvae both the hatcherys. _________________

So far I only hotkey nexus to 4 and my army to 1/(2). I use the nexus hotkey a lot in the early game for the chrono boost, but by the middle to late game I rarely use it.
Also, how do I add things to my current selection? So I can put all my nexuses/hatcheries into one control group.

Pretty sure you hold either shift or control then left click all your hatcheries and then control group that way. In the same boat as you kurupt, only really use 2-3 control groups at most. Starcraft has been dead to me since the tourney closed, should really start playing again...

Shadow, yeah that's correct. But in denny's defence (protoss superstar denny the zealot) most of high level protoss play didn't really involve large void ray production; It was more singular or double void ray harassment with the specific idea in mind to change the oppositions build order into something you, as the protoss player would benefit from, rather than win the game. And if you did win, that was a super awesome bonus.
But in my defence, FUCK YEAH VOID RAY NERF. seriously dude, hated that one void ray coming into my base and winning games - no unit should have the ability to do that 2-4 voids, yeah im happy losing to that, but to ONE stinking void ray, uh uh, no way _________________

Pff, just tech noob.
And regarding PvP VRs: it was semi-suicidal to do any kind of Voids in PvP up in the higher levels really, as PvP came down to "HURR 2GATE HURR 4GATE HURR STALKERS HURR COLOSSUS" and that was about it. That being said, the strats have been changing a fair amount over the past month with it. Phoenix' play has become a lot more common, which is good because Phoenix are F**KING AWESOME.
| Quote: | | $20 says they'll buff them again to 10 (+10) |
They should rebuff it back to Beta levels. 7 range Voids were hilarity and a half.
EDIT: But in seriousness though, the VR is overnerfed now. For what you get for 250/150, well not worth it anymore. Yay for forced Robo/Twilight openings. _________________

Was watching MLG DC where IdrA ended up winning.
Oh wow the new roach is so strong. Never knew a small range upgrade could make such a huge difference.

God damn it man, you spoiled it.
No seriously, if you're going to say the results of a recent match please use spoiler tags next time, knowing the results makes it much less exciting to watch _________________

Looks like they're going to redo the avatars or something in season 2.
| battle.net wrote: | | There are also some pretty exciting changes coming to Battle.net in the future that have been based on our players' feedback and our own research. Season 2 is coming, and it will bring with it a ladder wipe, but at the same time, each player's profile will be upgraded with new UI elements, including awesome new artwork which denotes a player's rank within their division, as well as a record of performance in prior seasons, improved detail pages that are more colorful and rewarding for top players, featured replays, and many more. Matchmaking rating will be preserved, so a single placement match will be all that it takes to find your place on the ladder once again. On top of all these new features, two new leagues will be introduced to highlight the top players in each region: the Master League, which places roughly the top 5% of Diamond players in their own league, and the Grandmaster League, a very special, elite league which is comprised of the top 200 players in each gameplay region, which will be visible to other players |

Why start season 2 so early though? I thought it'd be once a year that they wipe all results at least, is it more like 3 times a year or something?

No idea. They announced it so I just assumed it would be rolled out in the next month or so, based on past announcements of their patches to when they were available. But I never really read news from Blizzard, ever, so it's probably going to be alot longer than I expected.

Yeah... they didn't give a timeframe so it could be anytime between now and 2012 =P
The season's end usually gives a decent amount of notice though, so expect an announcement when they decide. _________________
