Go karts ? wow i can't wait now
It's funny, the longer the wait.... the less interested i become. I don't have much patience for driving games these days. I mean i'll play through them as best i can, but quite often they will be unfinished before the next car game (whether it's the sequel to the one i am playing, or a competing franchise) comes out.
If the Forza franchise is anything to go by, i don't mind the actual driving.... but i found cycling through the menus to eventually get to what i wanted was tedious. As well as the actual way that they categorised the events (with the varied restrictions). I hated how limited it seemed.
The original Gran Turismo is practically my most played driving game (that or NFS III: Hot Pursuit), it's the GT that i spent the most time on (even after i finished all of the events). I didn't have the same desire to push through GT 2, 3, 4.

As someone who use to consider themself a Gran Turismo diehard, I've all but given hope with this game. In the time that it's taken PD to release GT5, Turn10 have released 3 Forza games that have exceeded what GT has done to date in terms of sim racers. The introduction of damage, real time telemetry data, advance physics and most importantly, advance and intelligent AI. Not to say that GT doesn't do a good job of replicating real life physics but things like a lack of damage and the straight line AI really hurt their series.
I'm not denying that GT5 will be incredible. I have every confidence that GT5 has the potential to be a better game than Forza 3 given they do implement damage in every single car, continually improve real life physics and improve the AI so that they actually do something other than following the same invisible line. But what PD have done with their ridiculously development for GT5 is give a substantial amount of market share to Turn10. Keep in mind that PD monopolised the Sim racer on consoles. The only reason I deffered to Forza was because it was the only sim console racer being released that wasn't a glorified demo.
This delay is completely unacceptable and I doubt it will be for the period specified in the news report. Need I remind you all of the constant promises from PD and Sony that the game was a shoe in for 2008, then 2009. It's 2010 and it's been pushed back to the very end of the year. I understand PD obsession for perfection but to take this long to add things that Forza 1 introduced such as damage and intelligent AI, the excitement of the game has really been killed off. Either way, it will be a day one purchase for me when it eventually gets released. _________________

Feel my head explode from a night of gin
Another night out late
I don't want to drink don't want to be a clown
I got to get my feet back on the ground
Before it pulls me in
How come it ended up like this
And who's gonna catch me when I'm coming down to hit the ground again
All by myself “waking up at 12 in my clothes again”
Cause I don't want to drag you down hold you down
Cause you're a friend, I blame myself “feel my head explode from a night of gin”
I guess you think it's funny now, funny now
Yes that intro song describes the mood many seem to be in right now very well!

Yeah but the last 8 or 9 didn't operate in this newfound environment where PS3 games can actually be pirated.
Sadly, as they absolutely do not deserve it in light of their prior stunts, I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt with this one. The excuse seems legitimate, and the fact that pissant pirates have caused it makes me angry. _________________

I'm not really into car racing games but it had better be damn bloody good with all these delays. They seem to keep delaying the game due to some new technology feature. They probably should have just release 5 and 6 in that time. _________________ Shin J Leon.

Just heard an advertisment on radio, Harvey Norman promoting the price of the collectors edition - pre order for $129 and they will honor a price match if you find it cheaper on release. Funny thing is, now with the release date up in the air.... it could be a few extra weeks (or longer), before you could get it.
Also spotted a deal at my local store, you can get the G27 wheel + GT5 for $728. Again like the above, it's a bit hard to do the deal when the game is delayed.... but also the fact that the wheel itself is a hot ticket item. Noticed pre F1 2010, they couldn't sell them and they were just sitting gathering dust. After the F1 2010 release, they flew off shelves, when restocked the price was bumped back up. Amusingly, people still paid $599, as they have been flying off the shelves again in recent weeks.

This delay is so annoying. Apparently this time is to make sure it's pirate proof. Also as of yesterday the final discs are meant to be printing away.
Hopefully late this month or early dec at latest.
In other news, I have a G27 and I made a rig for it with a sparco seat and it's so good i hate playing games on a controller. it's sooooooooooo damn awesome.

Why do I get the feeling it will be like ho-hum we have seen this all before and it won't review particularly well?
Not that I care how it reviews I will still enjoy buying a Subaru Legacy wagon and mucking around with the settings and buying other cars to max out their power out put. _________________

To be brutally honest, the only reason I'm buying it for is to take advantage of their 1,000,000 different Subaru's and tuning them. _________________

pretty disappointed at their track offerings... there's a few new tracks but nothing superly exciting - i was definitely hoping for more city tracks... there's plenty of racetracks though and there's a track editor which is good news. _________________

There is 76 tracks?? I thought that would be satisfying enough + a track editor
And just incase people didn't already know GT5 has gone better than GOLD
