^^ WRC is $51 at ozgameshop.com delivered

I was really looking forward to that but the finland stage on the demo really ruined it for me... looked like a PS2 game. With one car on the track I think they could have done a lot better.

But seriously with how strong the Australian dollar is doing - I think its time someone did an internet gaming bargains article.

@arbok: I agree, we need an internet gaming bargains article.

Dead Rising 2 on Steam is only $39.99 USD.

L4D and L4D2 each are on sale on Steam for $6.79 USD.

Modern Warfare 2 map packs are 50% off.

MightyApe sales: http://www.mightyape.com.au?r=1702883 (If your spending over $40, please use this link so I can get referral credit xD)

Shipping cost is $4.90.

Civilization V is $69.99 AUD
Metro 2033 is $6.99 AUD
Just Cause 2 is $29.99 AUD
Medal of Honor LE is $68.99 AUD
Call of Duty Black Ops is $84.99 AUD
Fallout New Vegas is $79.99 AUD

They have a bunch of PS3, Xbox 360 games on special as well.

I thinks this is a great idea. That said, many of the retailers (such as GAME) review Andrew's article to check prices.

Was going to get Enslaved at JB today but it was $99. New catalogue has it listed for that price too.

Picked up Wii Party. Pretty good price considering you get a Wiimote with it. I just wished it was a coloured or black Wiimote than the standard white. If my theory holds correct of every odd numbered game in the series, this 9th installment of the (Mario) "Party" series should be good. Number 8 was horrible, hope Hudson learnt from their mistakes this time round.

EDIT:
Hmm so the game isn't developed by Hudson, instead Nintendo's own internal teams.

Internet bargain sounds great but it will be annoying to track and do. Especially day specific sales and the amount of games they put on sale, numerous stores on the internet. It becomes impractical.

I have a list of sites I checked from for internet bargain and find the cheapest there. Won't get the most cheapest on the web but if there is a saving from the cheapest price in Australian retail, I'm already happy icon_biggrin.gif . I
look out in the Gaming Bargains in General Talk forum for bargain/websites to add to my list.

Hooray, JB has a PSP Essential range sale for $14.95, time to take out my gift card and hopefully get something good!

^^ But i don't think its too big of a deal right? I mean if the site runs out of stock, or the sale was only on for 24 hours then you've just missed out on a bargain just as if u went to a shop.

I was just throwing out an idea there maybe someone could put up a list whether on the forums or as an article - maybe 50/100 bargains that he's spotted - it wouldn't be a definitive list, but the comments section could sort that out. It would be like the steam article we used to get. I agree somewhat we would be duplicating some information in the bargain/websites thread but what is the internet if not duplicating information.

and it definitely wouldn't replace the australian gaming bargains article. =)

I don't mean to offend anyone at PALGN or stop them reading this site, but there's already a site that does all of this, ecogamer.com.

I read both sites before buying a game.

All Eco Gamer does, in relation to retail catalogues, is host images of the catalogues. If you're looking for a specific game it's normally easier to jump on here and just do a page search of the title.

For internet bargains a round up like this wouldn't work. Only a couple of websites have specials sections that last for a week and the rest will just do 1 to 3 day sales. It would require updating at least 4 or 5 days a week and sadly I don't have the time to do that around work. It is something I have looked into since taking over bargains. It's much easier for for a site formatted like a blog, like Eco Gamer, to do this as they can just make a post with a link and a few of the sale items listed. Whereas I would have to list every single game on sale and do currency conversions, which would quickly be obsolete, for every item.

If there wasn't a big difference then I won't bother, I usually do if its at least $10 or more which is a lot of my case (like PS3 Bluetooth headsets, gaming controllers, PSP games). I'm usually unlucky with sales so I don't bother with them unless its an unpopular item and I was lucky to come across it by chance icon_biggrin.gif . But yeah, I shop around icon_lol.gif

Actually, you're much better off searching Gamestracker or Gamecafe (hell, even eBay.com.au or eBay.co.uk will be better). All online though.

They found Wii Party for $68, Enslaved for $59, and NBA 2k11 for $52. All including postage.

As you said though, this would be a very useful tool for other retailers, or people who need the game now. But I would never call this once a week article close to as good as Ecogamer, especially with the shoutbox and forums there.

Internet sale tracking would be too time consuming to do every time because of the huge amounts of games. If you can buy games from overseas it is best just to check these sites every week for anything you are interested in.

http://www.play-asia.com/
(Aussie dollar near parity makes the harder to find games a decent pickup, shipping can cost a bit though)

http://www.cdwow.com.au/
(Ditto for CDWow, really cheap PC games are the best pickup. Free shipping)

http://www.365games.co.uk/
http://www.ozgameshop.com/
(same site just different currency and a few different items for sale. Picked up Halo Reach for $48 on release from ozgameshop. Never had a problem with them and includes free shipping)

Steam is obviously an important one to check all week, same with GOG. Their current sales have been a lot better since moving out of beta (also all the D&D games helps).

actually, for a fairly good check of internet prices I use www.gamestracker.com - it won't include certain sites it really should in the search (play-asia and videogamesplus being two that come to mind), but it's not too bad...
