I'm just finishing up my second playthrough, which was with Ventus. So far I'm having a great time with the game, the worlds get a little more fleshed out as you go through the other character's stories as well. The short length of the worlds makes more sense when you consider that they are essentially split into three distinct pieces, one for each character's story. _________________

Do you still receive them if you lose the game? Or only if you win?
Thanks for the replies

Alright, that's a wrap! I've finished the game with all the characters and beaten the final episode, plus have seen the secret video.

This was a great game which made 358/2 Days look pretty ordinary. I look forward to seeing what will happen in the future. _________________

Playing through Terra's story at the moment. Just finished Snow White's... world. I absolutely love the combat, grinding for no reason is... fun? :O
Level 10, I think. Command Board is epic. Lost the first time, but won against Cinderella. D-Link is sexy. Also, the loading times, imo, aren't as bad as some people made out. Firmware update was annoying though, haha.
So far, 9/10. Hoping the story gets better >_>

Everyone should be using D-Links actively, they're pretty much BBS's version of summons. Some of them have very useful effects, such as Mickey who gives you double Exp and Experiment 626 who gives you double CP while they are active. Very handy. _________________

Yup. Anyone got any strategies for the Olympus Colluseum? I get to round... five, I think, and run out of time. I usually cast a Fira at the five... things, and then slide in, but... it's really annoying. Anyone else have problems here? Playing Terra, level 20 now XD

Try Magnera and/or Zero Gravira. Magic that targets an area is very useful. I had no trouble at all with the Coliseum, I just used all my commands quickly. Make sure you always use every slot you have, and meld commands often to get higher level magic. _________________

The only match I had trouble with is those guys you have to hit from behind, but i got it the second try because I got lucky and had a command style finisher already queued.
Just beat Terra's story. Two down, one to go _________________

I had to go back and get two of the reports after I'd finished (one in a chest, one in the Mirage Arena). It's no great drama.

Thanks for the heads up on that, I'm almost done with Aqua so I'll need to go back and get a couple of these. _________________

Well, I've finished Terra's story, and I love it. After 358/2 Days left a slightly sour taste in my mouth (which cleared up after I finished it) this game has restored my love of KH. It's ranking up there with the first two, that's for sure. I did like 358/2 Days, but there were a number of things I wasn't too keen on. I think a lot of 3D games, especially fast paced ones, don't really work too well without an analogue stick. Also, I hated not leveling up. Sure, you get EXP but you can't just "grind" or whatever. So, this game is a massive improvement.
Well, apart from one thing.
I'm stuck in Ventus's story. Against a boss? No. Trying to hunt down some elusive chest? Nope. Figuring out what passive ability I'm going to get from melding? Not that, either.
It's ...
| Quote: | .. Huey, Dewey's and Louie's stupid ice cream machine mini game. I ended up avoiding the silly (nice way of saying it) thing in Terra's story, knowing very well that I'd probably miss out on seeing the secret movie at the end of the game if I don't bother with collecting and completing everything. I'm too chicken to play on Proud Mode.
But to think that if I want to continue in the game, I have to beat a round (possibly more) of this stinker really gets me angry! I'm not impressed because no matter how many times I try to beat it, I can't seem to get the timing right or anything. |
Yes, I know I suck, but I think there's been at least one mini game in each KH that I've avoided because I can't stand them. They've just been too maddening.
I've completed everything in the first KH and saw the movie that way, but with KH2 I had to watch the movie on Youtube, much to my displeasure and it feels like I'm cheating!
But to think it's now a requirement to beat Ventus's story (unless Disney Town is just a side planet) really makes me exasperated ...
Edit: I got a "Cool" rating just then.
...
Still don't like the game, though! _________________

Just finished this.
The ending was great, and the secret ending has me even more upset that we have to wait years for KH3...
Story-wise im a little confused though. I havent played KH2 so im guessing im missing something important from that.

I guess I can't blame you for that. I had the same feeling after finishing BBS myself, but then I remembered that I already played through it again earlier this year. Still, playing through both KH1 and 2 right after each other is always great! _________________

Imported the game from the UK for a measly $25 (Collectors!). Considering I had a feeling the art book was going to be poor, I'd say this is a wonderful bargain (take that EB and your ridiculous $75 for a PSP game).
A few thoughts come to mind, and the inevitable comparison to 358 Days.
The battle system is more reminiscent of KH2, that is quick and an extreme light show with plenty of reactive commands. While 358 was more in tandem with KH1, which was slower and methodical which required a lot of hit and run play. Obviously there are exceptions during fights where things get topsy turvy, but I do appreciate BBS leaning towards a faster paced system.
Currently I'm playing on Critical Mode and doing Ventus story. Do I need to touch the Command Board at all? I clicked it out of interest and immediately reset the PSP when I saw some Mario Party styled thing.
Spoiler:
| Quote: | | Up to fighting Xehanort and I've genuinely hit a road block. Every single one of his attacks one shots me, and while I can effectively take off half his health, this is when he starts spamming Cure and his Meteor spam move to oblivion. Any pointers? Although I have a feeling it is because I neglected the Command Board and that I'm level 20 on Critical Mode. >_> |

The command board is not required, I barely touched it. For hard boss fights the number one tip is abuse the dodge button. Dodge like no tomorrow. And yeah, grind a bit _________________

Nailed him just then. Turns out my old Command sets of random assortment of skills I wanted to level is not a great way of handling the last boss.
Levelled up a bit so I could survive a full Meteor spam. After that, it was just a case of spamming Counter Hammer.
Despite the wonderful effects and whatnot, I still think Days is the better game just because the customisation was nuts compared to the other games, and the multiplayer sessions I've had with friends is hillarious.

Finally got around to finishing the last bit today. I ripped through Terra's story quick enough. But i tired to go through Ven and Aqua's at the same time. Ended up taking me a lot longer.
It's a very different game to Days, i'd say i like this one better from a story stand point. Day's felt like a side story, birth by sleep feels like a prequel. A story that needed to be added to the series. Plus, it had new worlds.
Now i can finally dig into valkyria chronicles II a more. _________________
