nice to see insomniac going for a bit more of an artistic touch.... wasn't a fan of the resistance gameplay or ratchet's so we'll have to see how this plays out. _________________

Multiplayer in Resistance was awesome, but they really dropped the ball with Multiplayer in R2. They took out the option for one shot kills, and that totally ruined it IMO.
But the multiplayer in R1 was excellent, so if it can recreate that, I'll give this a look in. _________________

Of course they're bullshots... they're just media pics to hype the game, some are even just artwork.
I love how vicious the enemy faces look though! Hopefully it's more like 1 and less like 2. _________________ My YouTube game videos!

I actually preferred it without one shot kills...
But then again my favourite gametype was unlimited ammo where everyone would run around using the carbine's grenade launcher, I used to kick ass with that weapon. _________________

Same. No one shot kills made it more fun and less frustrating. I prefered Resistance 2 to any of the COD games. Cant wait till 2011! _________________

Well even if you don't prefer one-shot kills, they could at least give you the option.
I don't think they had one-shot kills in R2 because of the points system they had running.
It's funny, I didn't mind MP for Uncharted, which is not one-shot kills, but it really irked me in R2. _________________

maybe not so much 1 shot kills, but instead make it so you dont have to use 2 whole clips to kill someone, thats what bugged me about the 2nd one, first i would play alot of 1 shot kills with just snipers, and second i just played ranked but not half as much because to kill someone took to many bullets and it annoyed the hell out of me.
but in saying that, i am looking forward to this one. _________________

I liked the trailer but felt it was a bit silly. How could a train (and tracks) be still functional/not attacked in the war torn envirnoment......
The chimera are pretty damn aggressive. _________________ Shin J Leon.

The shotgun was a one shot kill in Resistance 2 if you were running close to someone and pressed R2. _________________

I dunno, but I'm guessing the Chimera wouldn't understand the importance of train transportation and the local resistance managed to get a hold of one.
But obviously we're both just speculating _________________

Resistance 2 was intentionally made to be arcadey, think more Quake and the like rather than Modern Warfare. I still play R2 online to this day, not religiously, but I chuck it in every couple of days and go a few maps.
The only weapon that one shots is the Fareye (sniper) if you get a headshot. Technically the shotty isn't one shot, it takes the double pump (R2) to insta-kill, which is two rounds.
The only thing that's annoying is the Wraith is extremely overpowered in multiplayer, so 90% of people spam it. There are a few balancing issues with weapons online and I really dislike the random spawns, I prefer fixed spawns. If both were fixed then R3 should be awesome.
I'm really looking forward to it, it'll be a day one purchase for me.
Does anyone know who our hero is in this one? Is that meant to be an older Hale? Or a new guy? Because they'd have to give some crazy explanation after the end of the last game. _________________

| Euro PS Blog wrote: | Resistance 3: The Story So Far
Marcus Smith here, Creative Director on Resistance 3 at Insomniac Games. Hopefully you had a chance to check out the teaser for our new trailer which will premier exclusively this Saturday during the Spike Video Game Awards (VGAs).
And, we look forward to sharing more with you about the trailer after the VGAs this weekend.
But even prior to the VGAs, a lot of new info has hit since gamescom via a couple magazine covers that you may have seen – but if you missed them, we’re here to catch you up. First of all, the main protagonist in Resistance 3 is Joseph Capelli, the Sentinal who (HUGE RESISTANCE 2 SPOILERS HERE… if you haven’t played it yet, go buy a copy now!) was forced to kill Nathan Hale at the end of R2. Capelli was dishonourably discharged, and four years later is living in hiding with his wife, Susan, and son, Jack, along with other survivors in the town of Haven, Oklahoma. He’s given up fighting, and is now just trying to hide and survive the Chimeran death squads that roam the planet. But when Dr. Malikov arrives with an opportunity to deliver a blow to the Chimera, Capelli embarks on a road trip to New York City. Resistance 3 is a tale of Capelli’s heroic journey across the country as he encounters the remnants of humanity left in the aftermath of the brutal invasion.
We wanted to show you some of our favourite concept art and screenshots so far, with some director’s commentary on each. Check out our favourite screenshots below.
In Resistance 3, humans are hunted by Chimeran death squads, but various groups have figured out different ways to survive across the destroyed country.
One of our favourite concepts, emphasising the brutality of the world. Capelli using the new Marksman.
The gamescom trailer was meant to give you a glimpse and foreshadow the universe that we are creating, whereas the action in the upcoming VGA trailer will actually represent some moments from the game, and hopefully give you a taste of the world, atmosphere and mood in Resistance 3.
Part of Capelli’s journey involves a treacherous boat journey. This shows off our new Capelli model (yup, he does look different and skinnier after four years of malnutrition as food is now scarce), holding Resistance’s signature weapon, the Bullseye. Folks who are looking carefully will notice the Goliath in the background, as well as a new enemy, the Longlegs.
In Resistance 3, the Chimera have formed into two distinct groups. Feral Chimera, such as the grim seen above and others such as the Widowmaker, are a constant threat to humans and even militarized Chimera.
Early in the game, you’ll meet Capelli’s wife, Susan. Fans of the universe and novelization will recognize her as Nathan Hale’s stepsister.
The military chimera are still a strong presence in 1957, with roving death squads and drones continuing to exterminate any signs of humanity while protecting key Chimeran installations.
This is a screenshot taken from one of our multiplayer maps. The multiplayer locations in the game are set around the world, with many in locations not in the single-player game. This level is the Fort Lamy prison, in the Republic of Chad, Africa. During the single-player campaign, you’ll hear updates about the battle happening there.
Many folks have written to us with questions about gameplay, co-op, and multiplayer. A few quick answers: The weapon wheel returns, allowing Capelli to carry his entire arsenal and letting the player choose which weapons and strategies they want to use for each encounter. New to Resistance 3 are upgradeable weapons, which will give your weapons new abilities and power as you continue to use them. In terms of co-op, we are focusing on a 2-player co-op through the single-player campaign, which can be played online with a friend, or split-screen on your couch. In terms of multiplayer, we are planning a much more focused, progression-based multiplayer experience. We’ll have many more details on the new campaign, enemies, multiplayer and weapons in the weeks to come as we head towards our Autumn 2011 release. |

| PS Blog wrote: | Resistance 3 Coming 9/6/11: First Gameplay Footage from the VGAs
We are excited to bring to you the first gameplay footage from Resistance 3 – coming to you in the form of our trailer for the Spike Video Game Awards (VGAs). You’ll see some more live-action (ala our Cologne reveal trailer), representing two moments from the game: a treacherous boat journey, and a brutal arena battle. You’ll also see gameplay footage during the boat sequence, as Joseph Capelli and Dr. Malikov make their way through a flooded city filled with Grims while trying to avoid Chimeran death squads.
If you missed the post from Resistance 3 Creative Director Marcus Smith earlier this week, you should check it out. It brings you up to date on all the info we’ve released (including the first details about the storyline and our two-player online / split-screen campaign co-op). Click here to find out more.
If you’re already caught up, you’ll definitely want to check out the VGA trailer above. See if you can spot one of the Rossmore Shotgun upgrades, or my personal favorite, when one of the new Longleg enemies has his cooling-backstacks damaged, the overheat causing a messy mid-air explosion.
Resistance 3 is coming exclusively to PlayStation 3 on September 6th, 2011 in North America. Keep an eye on the Insomniac Games Facebook page and Twitter for more info! |
EDIT: Bloody hell. Took 5 minutes to upload the damn trailer just to have it blocked within 2 minutes. FML.
EDIT2: There we go. _________________

Looks better than r2 but footage seemed very jaggy. Seems to have implemented killzone2 level fx on weapons which is nice. Hopefully, whatever new system they're using won't create pixellarted fx (as seen in r2 and the latest ratchet) _________________
