They didn't confirm the title or game itself, just stated the series was coming to the 3DS, right?

God damn it, every time I play a non-main series KH game I walk away dissapointed. Love KH1 and KH2, I just wanna play KH3 already. Stop with the bloody spinoffs already, please!

Im gonna have to agree. While Birth by Sleep was awesome. it doesnt come close to been as awesome as KH1 and KH2. Im getting sick of these damn spin-offs.
At least keep them on 1 console...

Yes, and they confirmed it was a whole new title; not a remake. And they released screenshots. And I think maybe even a trailer.

Am I the only one that's just gotten really sick of Kingdom Hearts? I mean the first one was fun but the plot is just so god damm convoluted at this point that I find it hard to give a damm.

The bulk of the main team that made Kingdom hearts 1 and 2 are currently working on Final Fantasy Versus XIII. The handheld titles require a much smaller team and so they can be worked on at the same time, whereas they need the full team to work on Kingdom hearts 3.
Hence being too busy to make KH3, but being able to work on handheld titles.

Food for thought, but during Iwata's 3DS briefing just gone he got a bunch of third parties to talk about their games. Talking about Kingdom Hearts 3, whoever it was said that the 3 in the title might inply it is the third Kingdom Hearts game.
