Tamron 17-50 f2.8 - $500 but will get the GST back when I go overseas next Friday, so $450 all up. Importing from Hong Kong would have been $420 so $30 extra for an Australian warranty and being able to return it to a store a couple of blocks away from work was worth it.
Looking forward to having a nice fast lens for night shooting in Japan.

@Spanca: I have that exact lens on my Nikon bod . Its my general purpose lens, and its served me well so far.
[though I'm starting to move away from digital back into film, so I'm using it less and less]
Anyway, post up some pics of japan later! _________________

@3mt - With your signature... How did you get "Peace" from Ping'An?.. Just curious because I thought Peace was HePing.. or.. another type of peace (more of a "quiet" type of peace) would be AnJing.. I am far from fluent.. so I am always trying to understand the oddities of the language _________________

Wanted to get it from Myer with gift vouchers. Their price was $109, I wanted the JB price of $89. He said they couldn't price match because their cost price was $92, so the best was $94. Then he started putting it through and said "don't worry, I'll just do it as $89". Winner! _________________

To be honest, I'm not quite sure. I know HePing and AnJing can also mean "peace", but I've always used 平安[PingAn] to mean it. I think its because I'm Cantonese and this is only a Cantonese word.
平安 means "peace" in the vein of "calmness" or "no war" or "spiritual peace" in Cantonese, which is probably why you don't understand it, since HePing or AnJing can also mean "peace" both in Cantonese and Mandarin, but in this case, I used Cantonese. _________________

This just makes me wanna learn Cantonese more!!
Can speak conversational Cantonese (had no problem communicating in Hong Kong) but I can't read and know complex word, just those getting by everyday phrases speaking at home.
Going to take a course as soon as I finish the required study for work. I was told to take Mandarin though but I have no one to speak Mandarin daily though.
Purchase-wise, is planning to buy Kingdom Hearts:Birth By Sleep Special Ed for my other half after dinner. Surprised he haven't got it yet being a huge KH fan and he has been depressed with his new job lately, so I'm trying to make him happy _________________ "Work hard now, play even harder later"

Sony KDL-HX800 40" 200Hz 1080p 3DTV.
Playstation 3 Slim 160GB Console
3D Transmitter
3D Active Glasses
HDMI Cable
God of War Collection
Four 3D PSN Games
Pack cost me $2050 at JB Hifi. Individually it would have come to $3300. Not to shabby, and now I'm ready to play Ico and Shadow of the Colossus in 3D. _________________

Picked up my Zombrex edition of Dead Rising 2. I didn't get the Outbreak edition because apparently I ordered it too late and they didn't think to inform me when I put my pre-order in for it... oh well. I get an awesome syringe pen!
Also got Dark Chronicle for $20 and ordered Civ 5 for $40, although I haven't got anything to show for it yet. _________________ Check out my game, Awien Ambush

This came in the post today
It's all nicely designed, pity the game doesn't have a huge manual like Civ IV, but eh, I guess those days are over due to hippies.
Only problem is that since the game doesn't come out until tomorrow, Steam won't let me install it yet. So I'm setting up a proxy at the moment to spoof it into thinking I live in the US... _________________

Got this little gem in the mail today. $109 from EB Games. I actually ordered it very late in the pre-order cycle and forgot all about it. Came with Garlond Goggles code, well not really.
Apparently it wasn't in stock at the time when the game got posted out but it came in an email when the game arrived so thats pretty good timing on EB's part
I swore I wouldn't play another MMO after I quit World of Warcraft but this FF MMO is pretty damn tempting. Comes with Map of Eorzea, Drink Tumbler, Security Token, Behind the Scenes DVD, Traveller's Journal and 'The Onion Helm' ingame item
Let's hope its better than Final Fantasy XIII

im same as you - cantonese at home.
but ive been taking mandarin for two years and loving it. my opinion for what its worth - everybody is switching to mandarin - you can get by in hong kong with mandarin, and malaysia, singapore, taiwan, etc... and 1 billion ppl versus probably about 40 million people speaking cantonese... you'll find mandarin useful! _________________

There goes your plus.
Also, congrats on the 3D TV purchase Bronze! Welcome to the club! You're right in time to watch the grand final in 3D tomorrow.
BurnZ: I didn't even like Fallout 3, but that Pip-Boy is awesome! _________________
