Finished the campaign. Pretty awesome, only one disappointment but it's all good. Multiplayer is where it's at though. And it's always fun when you come first in most games you play icon_biggrin.gif. I don't think I will get sick of this for years.

Just finished campaign on Heroic and really enjoyed it. Struggled quite a bit in a few areas due to my overall crapness at FPS, so a Legendary solo-run might be asking too much at this point.

Haven't played online yet. The aforemenioned crapness being the main reason. Got smashed during the Beta and can't see this being any different. Will have a crack at some of the co-op modes later though.

I have no idea why Bungie took Elites out of Halo. They are awesome to fight except I remember the invisible ones in CE were way more intimidating.

I think it's because during Halo 2, the Elites become Heretics because they don't believe in what the Prophets are saying (or something or other), which is why in Halo 3 they become ally's, and you instead fight Brutes (don't hold me to this, but I think that's correct).

I said this to my mate before Reach came out that the from Halo to Halo 3 - and ODST - the difficulty got a little bit easier. Sure there were parts that were hard, but I think that removing the Elites made the game that much easier.

I'm currently half way through the campaign on Legendary, although I keep dying during the first half of the space mission.
I did take advantage of the free Gold weekend by playing online multiplayer. I played 7 games and won 5 of them. I felt so proud!

Yer that was the story reason. Gameplay wise it's a mystery as the elites are far more enjoyable to fight than the brutes.

Yes! I was so hoping that happened, it would have been awesome, but unfortunately it didn't. Still cool what they did show though.

Yeah, it was kind of annoying that the Autumn just floated towards Halo, when that obviously didn't happen. But I guess that part was just to make the credits less boring, still would have been cool if the Covenant started attacking it though.

While i was never really a huge fan of the franchise. I had played the pc version of Halo, i did actually buy Halo 3 on it's release, made an effort to finish the campaign back then (however i spent 90% of my time in multiplayer), wound up abandoning it when COD 4: MW came out.... and i never returned.

Had my first taste of Halo in almost 3 years, with a 40 minute session of reach last night (as per usual, skipped the campaign and went straight online icon_razz.gif). I don't think it will draw me in like Halo 3 did, but might be able to fill the time (have not played many games online recently) until the next exciting online title comes along.

I always found the brutes harder than Elites icon_neutral.gif Brutes always intimidated me for some reason...

And this, I enjoyed fighting the Elites more, maybe because of the intimidation factor...

As for me, heading towards the end of the game now, and I hate the Covenant so much for what they're doing to Reach icon_sad.gif

You might want to remove that spoiler, I'm only slightly through the campaign and that gave away something I didn't want to know.

Just finished the Legendary playthrough. I feel mighty accomplished. Now I'm in the mood to track down a copy of the first Halo so I can finish that one on Legendary.

I've really enjoyed playing this game, but I've always loved playing Halo so I'm slightly bias. I've already had some fun times playing with my mate, particularly with Firefight. I said something about the Forklift not being fast enough to actually kill anyone, and as luck would have it, my mate accidently ran me over with the goddamn Forklift.

Good times.
There's still two days left til the free Gold weekend finishes so if anyone wants to play online with me, send me a message and I'll see when I can get back on icon_biggrin.gif

I too finished Legendary yesterday, its an awesome game and jetpacks are an awesome addition. I was at my friends playing on local system yesterday (Tvs massive though so size isn't an issue) and I was in the banshee when I got commandeered by someone on a jetpack icon_razz.gif

Anyway I do have a few gripes with the game, here goes; spoilers on my 6.

Quote:
Brutes behave differently. I know its not how they originally were but I liked how the brutes behaved in Halo 3, it was pretty fun to kill all there mates and have the last guy run crazy at you. Maybe they got cocky in Halo 3 because the elites were gone.

The missions didn't feel important at all, for Bungies last game I was hoping that the missions would have more 'epicness' to them. It felt like the missions were trying to save ground on a planet that was going to get glassed anyway. They could have easily used the story from the actual book Reach and have had better story, epicness whilst maintaining quality gameplay variation.

I was tired in parts whilst playing this so forgive me if I'm wrong, but Halsey mentioned Cortana was studying the Forerunner artifact and that this was key to the war. That can't be true, in the first Halo game when they arrived on the Ring they were supposed to know virtually nothing about it iirc. I will have to read all the halo books and play all the games again though as my memorys going hazy.

Commander Keyes looked very young, he had black hair in Reach. Should of been grey. Not like he aged 15 years in the 1 hour trip from Reach to Installation 04 lol.

Halsey is a bitch, but not the kind of one from the books that deserved the love of the spartans and was a motherly figure towards them. She was just a bitch. I would of even preferred it if they had of used the hot version of Halsey from Halo Legends. Also she was supposed to have glasses.

I felt the need for at least 4 more maps to be included. I hope they release all the maps from previous games as DLC packs, I really want Valhalla and Sandtrap.

The last scene of the game where you take control of 6 as he dies was very cool, very very cool. I wonder though what happens if your on easy, if you could go forever possibly? hahaha

Anyway thats just me being super cynical, its a curse to be a die-hard fan at times because you complain a lot of petty things.

Anyway I did love the game, forge is more awesome then ever and I almost wish I had an xbox just so I could play this game more. With the next xbox I'll definitely get these games again, can see myself playing forge forever.

The revenant vehicle is insanely unbalanced, but at the same time its welcome just because its hilarious XD

About to hand over the data to the pillar, waiting for Keyes to come down, and I'm holding off the brutes, except for that one damn Chieftan with the fuel rod. Cannot kill him no matter what.

So I decide to press restart mission, to see where it would take me back to, which sadly was all the way back an hour or so before. So I wasn't too impressed. Cursed many words, and switched it off.

oh get fucked, I have to fight hunters again, only just remembered. I fucking hate hunters.

I have to say my biggest gripe with this game is the AI. It'll just sit there, behind cover not doing anything. Just chilling. The game suffers from a case of "Ramirez, Do Everything!" as well icon_neutral.gif

Does anyone see the invisible Elite at the beginning of the 'Noble Team' mission, after you get out of the Pelican? It seems to only be there on Legendary, and I manage to get a few bullets in it making it visible, but it just keeps running.

I know you probably fight it on later in the mission, but I want to kill it immediately icon_razz.gif Has anyone else seen it or have I just gone mad with Covenenant-rage?

Been playing on Heroic, which is unusual for me, I usually wimp out and play Normal. Total accident, but I'm enjoying the extra difficulty, had some epic gun fights with tricky Covenant, very satisfting.

And the space battles were great fun, reminds me of Rogue Squadron but less insane.

Annoyed though with a lack of autosave, I've had to replay large sections because of that. Seriously, Bungie, would it have killed you?

The autosaves are dynamtic and work 85% of the time. It seems to save at a point where you are safe and achieved something. I've had the odd case where it doesn't work though and I've had to replay a good chunk of stuff.

I think it generally is good though because it allows you to try things differently if you are dying over and over.

It checkpointed me once when i jumped on to a dropship i thought i was meant to be getting on, turns out i wasnt and it flew out to the horizon with me on board and disappeared and i fell into a void infinitely.
Restarted and was already on the dropship with the door closed.

Luckily that was funny so i didnt mind so much

Happened to me n a mate in Reach the other night, after falling another 4 or 5 more times it reverted back to the previous check point n I creeped around the cliff..

Love online too much to commit my time to the campaign.
