VC2 on PSP really works - I'm enjoying it. But hmm I really want another fix of Valkyria on PS3.

Well it's good news that there's another one, but I would of much preferred it to be on the PS3 - Sega's CANVAS engine looked much prettier on it.

Maybe Valkyria Chronicles IV.

I guess the bad sales on the PS3 gave them a bad taste in there mouth. It's a shame because I loved it on ps3 and I won't be buying a psp.

It sold really well on PS3. Bad start, but it eventually went on to sell roughly 1 million copies, and that figure is still rising.

I believe there are reasons why the 3rd one is on the PSP.

The first one being the PSP is currently the top selling system in Japan and secondly, it saves on development costs for Sega.

I personally don't have an issue about this since I prefer JRPGs on handhelds and my PSP needs a bit of love as it has been out of use for a while, until I got Persona 3 Portable.

I have Valkyria Chronicles II but haven't got the chance to play much of it yet.

Just because the third one is also a PSP game doesn't mean it will never be on a home console ever again.

We were discussing this in the Memoirs topic, how people are going nuts on Siliconera and talking about not buying the third game and so on, but that's going a bit overboard! I mean, acting childish isn't going to make them change what platform the third game is on.

I think we've seen that the sequel is a more than capable game, so this series needs support, not to be shunned, especially if you do want to see another one on a home console.

But, really, at the end of the day, it's a sequel to a game a lot of people love. More of a good thing, I expect, and people should be happy about that.

Except if those people loved it on the PS3 and don't have a PSP. Then it's a sequel to a game that they loved and now can't play.

And people that don't like butt ugly graphics. The PSP verison looks worse than some DS games I've played, and doesn't really translate the PS3 version's art style at all. I mean really, compare the pair:

I do not get why you compare visuals from a PS3 game with one on the PSP. A game, design for the PS3 will and should look better than a game design for the PSP.

First of all, there is some sense the VCII was started on PSP. Being somewhat SRPG, it fits nicely in the portable sphere. Furthermore, I am sure they are using VCII to see how the game can perform on PSP and being portable.

VCIII is announced this quick, means the game is most likely going to be tweaks mainly from gamers' feedback. My guess is, the storyline and plot is going to behave like a "side story", with game mechanics remains somewhat similar to VCII. It's basically going to be VCII with different with characters and story + tweaks/wishlist from gamers' feedback.

Also, by staying on the PSP, I believe they actually do not have enough new ideas, gameplay and story for a new PS3 release. Also, there is still some time before VCIII is released. One will never know they might already have design VCIII with PS3 and PSP in mind, just like "Ken to Mahou 3". The series took 3 releases to reach a PSP+PS3 release.

VC does looks rather pretty, but it's not the prettiest game out there visually on a PS3. That however is an advantage where graphics isn't the main selling point. They can be released on both the PSP and PS3 with minimal sacrifice.

I'm aware of that, but the PSP graphics are a complete horrible mess. I was genuinely shocked at how ugly they could make Valkyria Chronicles look. Even the PSP can do much, much better than that.

Plus, it is designed for home console, and IMO will always be better on home console. Guess haters gonna hate though.

EDIT: I was not commenting on how the effects were lower resolution and all that jazz on PSP, it was more that the whole art style doesn't even work in VC2, which, based on the release date, this will probably be sharing an engine with.
Also, PSP already got a VC game this year. It's PS3's turn...

And the Sega shovelware engine starts up.

I loved VC. But everything since has turned me away. Especially the DLC, and VC2 being on the PSP. The animé really didn't help either.
