Beat me to the punch! This is shaping up to be another hit series for AMC.
The only thing that worries me a little is that the show looks very expensive. Quality of production aside, unless the ratings remain consistantly great throughout it's season, I'm afraid it'll run at a greater risk, than most, of cancellation. Look at what happened to Deadwood and Carnivale...
That said, so far all signs are pointing to this being a smash hit. If this flops, I'll be very surprised. _________________

Thats exactly what was thinking Capoeira but i am glad its going to be 6 episodes so yeah budget won't be as stretched as it would be for a 24 ep series and so on. I got to say tho that zombie looks fucking epic! _________________

Maybe it will have the budget of a 24 ep series condensed into 6 eps!

Sometimes i wish HBO would of done this series cause they spend a lot of money on there shows but they also tend to cancel shows to so it would be a double edged sword..... _________________

^ Another reason it would have been better served on HBO is that the creative team would be free to go all out on the violence, profanity etc. AMC appears to have a nasty habit of censoring it's shows. I've noticed this when watching Breaking Bad; whenever a character drops the the f bomb, it's always silenced out. That's sort of crappy. I'm hoping the Walking Dead writers aren't being asked to scale anything back.
Chalk that up as another worry... _________________

I found Breaking Bad is still fairly violent, it just seems to be language that is taboo and I guess sex/nudity as well, can't remember if there was any of that in it.

Yeah, the violence was fairly represented but this is a zombie themed series. I douby there's there's a more gore-riddled genre! I'm hoping The Powers That Be plan on giving the writers some leeway because cutting back on the good stuff could leave the series feeling impotent.
Edit: There's a samurai chick in the series? Why won't those books arrive... _________________

Regarding the violence. This is from an interview with Robert Kirkman
| Quote: | Quint: AMC has, obviously, been very supportive, but what can you get away with on AMC, in terms of graphic language and the intensity of the violence and stuff like that?
Robert Kirkman: You know, we just had a long meeting about this. There are some language restrictions. You’re not going to be dropping the F-bomb on AMC, which is fine. It’s not like if no one ever said the “f†word in WALKING DEAD the comic book, people would miss it.
I think the best way to put it is if you have ever watched BREAKING BAD…. they push the limit in BREAKING BAD quite often. There’s severed heads on the back of turtles, there’s liquefied bodies falling through ceilings, somebody just got their head blown off recently. I don’t want to spoil anything, but there’s very graphic nasty stuff that’s on BREAKING BAD all of the time and the thing that I was very excited to learn about AMC is that there is no limitation to how much of that you can have per episode or per hour or per minute.
Quint: Really?
Robert Kirkman: Anything you have seen in BREAKING BAD we can do every minute of our show. And then also there’s a lot of things you can get away with, because they are zombies, so you will be seeing all kinds of cool stuff that you would expect to see in THE WALKING DEAD: THE TV SHOW, so while it isn’t a pay cable channel, I think that people are still going to get what they want.
Quint: That’s good, because having a neutered zombie show is definitely not ideal, especially when you have people like KNB on board who can tear people up pretty good.
Robert Kirkman: Oh yeah. Nicotero has already been doing make-up tests on all of the zombies and there’s a bite test that I’ve seen. There’s a head shot test… So there’s all kinds of cool stuff that he’s already done on the show that just looks amazing. |
So it will be fine when it gets to the gory stuff.

The human to human violence was way more graphic than just any good ole zombie in WD. The scope it gets into, most 2 hour movies can't. Its great that its serialised. MMmm. _________________

That's pretty much all I needed to hear. Could you post a link to the interview? I'd love to hear more of what he has to say, provided none of it involves spoilers...
I just had a look at this Greg Nicotero's IMBD page. Yeah, I think it's in good hands. _________________

He plays a small part in Day of the dead where he gets his head ripped off.....So him and savini got the mechanical head, hid it in Greg's bed and got his mother to come in......hahah good times i imagine. _________________ kill, kill, kill.....the white man. Season 2 confirmed via sweepstakes competition?
http://sweeps.amctv.com/thewalkingdead/
| Quote: | | Ever dreamed of being a zombie? Now's your chance, with AMC's The Walking Dead Sweepstakes. Submit the online form and you'll be entered in a random drawing to win a four-day, three-night trip to the location of The Walking Dead’s Season 2 production, plus the opportunity to become one of the undead in a Season 2 episode of The Walking Dead. (Exact specifics of the walk-on role will be determined at the producer’s sole discretion.) The sweepstakes will run from Tuesday, July 20, through Sunday, August 15. Entrants may enter the sweepstakes one time only throughout the entire sweepstakes period. |

If true, that's got to be some kind of record
To you guys familiar with the series, how faithful does everything look so far? I'm wondering about the casting mostly. I can only recognize Sarah Callies from that bunch, but I've read that Lauren Holden is on board too. From the look of them, are they decent choices? _________________
