Finally another Nintendo Connection Tour is coming soon, I live for these things!
| Quote: | Nintendo On Tour -Nintendo Connection Tour 2010-
The Nintendo Connection Tour 2010 is coming to a shopping centre near you! Touring Australia and New Zealand from June to July, the Nintendo Connection Tour will have a great selection of Wii and Nintendo DS games, plus the all new Super Mario Galaxy 2 - which is only available in stores 1 July!
The tour will also host a New SUPER MARIO BROS. Wii Coin Challenge! Compete in the individual or Tag Team Battles for your chance to win great prizes. Plus, the winners from each location will be flown to Sydney to compete in the National Final!
There will be lots of fun activities, giveaways - including games, special guest appearances by Mario himself, as well as the search to find the greatest Mario voice impersonator - so be sure to check out the dates for your state.
Nintendo Connection Tour Dates:
26/27 June Westfield Chermside QLD
28/29 June Pacific Fair QLD
3/4 July Sylvia Park NZ
3/4 July Westfield Fountain Gate VIC
5/6 July Westfield Southland VIC
9/10 July Westfield Carousel WA
15/16 July Westfield Chatswood NSW
17/18 July Westfield Hurtsville NSW
17/18 July Westfield Marion SA |
TOURNAMENT RULES can be found through this link
I plan to be at all 4 (yep 4) NSW Events and hope to meet some PALGN peeps and compete with the best of them
Soo.... who can I expect to see/meet there?

I'm gonna try to go to the 2 NSW ones but i'll most likely only get to one.
I'm not too excited about the games i've heard being shown there. So far theres New Super Mario Bros. Wii, which i'm content with not playing again any time soon. and Mario Galaxy 2, which i'm not really excited for since i'm not a fan of 3D mario games. Can anyone think of any other games that will most likely be there? _________________

I'll definitely be there on the 15th July at Chatswood. Depending on how fun it is, I might pop back the next day.
I'm not as excited for this one I've already played NSMBWii and am by no means a master of the game, so I won't be winning any coin challenges. It will be awesome to try Galaxy 2 I guess.
Wish they'd thrown in a Pokemon Tournament...
Everybody bring their DS and Pokemon and we'll have a few battles! Start training Dare! _________________

Yay, Westfield Carousel...AGAIN.
It's such a bitch to trek all the way to goddamn Carousel. Worth it, but still a real *****. _________________

@Waka I still don't understand your hate of open world Mario games my friend, but its good to hear you will be there. And in regards of games to expect apart from NSMB & Mario Galaxy 2 my guess is as good as your's.
But I will be there mainly for Galaxy 2 (even though i'll already own it by then) & NSMB and I'm fine with that so...
@Macka you gotta at least give the comp a try, and in regards to a Pokemon tourney I'm actually thankful for this type of tournament which levels the playing field for all entrants, but to each their own.
I'll try and start training, but don't expect anything spectacular from me on the Pokemon front, k.
@Azza yeah I know what you mean, I don't even think I've been out to Hurstville before, but I am such a sucker for these events
Ok, so who else from NSW can I expect to see there?
Come on guys & girls, lets get behind this! _________________

@Dare
My irrational hate of open Mario games I think stems from the fact that I really didn't like platforming in 3D in general (Apart from Banjo Kazooie and Tooie, which are simply masterpieces). DK64 was alright, but most of that was just my nostalgia for DKC games. Mario games, the only one i'd really played was Super Mario World, which was amazing and had so many little side things you could do for a 2D platformer. for me, Super Mario 64 seemed so tacky, I really couldn't get into the whole "Stars" feel of the game, I didn't like that I HAD to go back into previous levels multiple times to unlock everything, and I didn't like the fact that, at very minimum you had to do a level like, 5 times to get every star (And I am aware that there are a few levels in Super Mario World where you must repeat them once to unlock a new level.) . For me, 3D Mario seemed so much like a gimick that i really just didn't enjoy it. And cause of that, i've never really given any 3D Platformer Mario game a chance. _________________

Well, I think that could be your problem. I can kind of understand where you're coming from, Mario 64 clearly got on your nerves. You definitely won't like Mario Sunshine. Mario Galaxy, on the other hand, mixes things up a bit more. There's more variety/segments to the levels, and the platforming is pretty tight. I reckon you should give Galaxy a go, see what you think.
As for the tour, I'll probably pass. The main attraction for me would have been Galaxy 2, but I'll have already finished it by then. _________________

I'm wondering that too. I soughta wanna see if there's any simple but worthwhile loots to be had.
That and i wanna know at around what estimated time/day(as in 1st or 2nd) the mario impersonation contest is(just for lulz). I have work on the 9th in the morning and want to know whether or not i should bother to rush to Caro in the aftanoon after work. _________________

Nice writeup! Didn't have time to stay till the end but it looks/sounds like all four of the finalists had a good time Congrats on winning, too! (Is Wayne ever happy about anything?)
I was actually fairly disappointed in the tour this year, it wasn't that... interesting. Apart from Muscle March and Pokewalkers, of course >_> _________________

They do need to step it up. Not like it was in the old tour days.
MKDS tour was freakin awesome.
Hopefully they will go back to those days. Having said that, still had an awesome time at this one. =] _________________

I'm looking forward to next year. It's gotta be a Pokemon BW one, right?
At least it's nice to catch up with people - although I'm terrible with faces and I kept bumping into people who knew me, but whom I didn't remember In my defence, it's been three years since I went to a tour!
(plus Jamie is eyecandy. >_>) _________________

Haha, Jamie does do well with the ladies.
As for next year/tour, you would think it would be Pokemon Black and White.
If not, then most likely something with the 3DS?.. _________________

Thanx for joining in the topic Ali, apart from me not many around Palgn are as psyched for the Connection Tours, but these next 5 days can't go fast enough till the Syd tour, and on that note any others here interested in attending along with myself Macka & Waka?
I'll be doin a write up once its over, hopefully with video, but whenever I do its a bit average, I'm no videographer...
And once again great job on the write up Ali (I commented on facebook about the same, it's me Andrew ) _________________

^ hey you can never be too sure with the internet
In regards to the Syd event, know of any TEC members who will be there, that why it's soo hectic? Cause I'm sure I've versed some before, just looking back at this and can see Chun & Adam in the finals with me, seen them at some tours since, but maybe not for a year or 2 now...
ah memories, and I'm sure you have some fond ones too, we both won there, you at Chadstone and me at Erina Fair _________________

Indeed, Chadstone is like my home ground.
I also won the Wii Tennis tournament there during the Wii release event.
Good times...
As for TEC members at Sydney, I'm sure you might see some, though now of them play it, so you should be ok. =P _________________

I happened to be at Westfield Hurstville when the tour was on and I didn't even know it!!!
Anyway, I got a pic with a Mario Mascot who was walking around the shopping centre getting attention with the ladies *wink*
(I didn't get in the tour because I wanted to just browse around but was told I had to fill in a form!, I ain't filling any form!)
I am to the right. _________________ "Work hard now, play even harder later"

^ the reason for the form was so that they had your permission to maybe take pictures of you and others that will go up on their website soon, but tough break
Nice picture, that Mario did soo much roaming, ran into it in Toys R Us, 'he' was shopping in Target, was quite interesting _________________

I'm so disappointed! I actually got pretty sick (and still am kinda, but the antibiotics are helping) and was pretty much bedridden for days, so I missed the tour As for Waka, I'm assuming he forgot, or just wasn't able to get there.
Happy to hear that you made it into the finals though Dare! _________________
