Donkey Kong Country, possibly one of my favourite series of all time, they are endless fun, i can't count the number of times i've 101/102/103 %'d them respectively.
And now the time has come for the 4th installment in the perfectly perfect Donkey Kong Country series.
Most of the people who care about it probably have already seen it, but for those few who haven't
ANYWAY. While we wait, a fun thing I found on the interwebs is this absolutely hilarious guy, who does "Talkthroughs" of the first 3 DKC games. They're not really a walkthrough, it's just him playing through the game, getting all the secrets, while saying absolutely hilarious things! It's just great fun to watch.

You're not the only one really surprised and excited by a new DKC. You're also not the only one who can't figure out how to embed videos on this forum
The first thing I thought of when I saw this confirmed during Nintendo's presentation was Rare. How they must feel to know the franchise they birthed has been brought back without their input, while they're stuck making cruddy games for the Kinnect ... oh dear.

Yay, more Donkey Kong is good, especially if it's the Donkey Kong we know and love rather than the way the series went after DK64.
Like I said in my other post, I just hope that Dixie shows up. I was a little disappointed that she wasn't in Brawl, because, let's face it, she would have been a fun addition.
And Tiny ... well ... I don't really like the way they changed her ...
Anyway, I thought embedding was a daunting thing, too, but it's pretty easy, especially with Youtube videos.
Basically, right click on the video itself and go to copy embed HTML or whatever it's called, and then paste it in between [*embed][/embed*]. And there you go!
Just remove those asterisks. _________________

I absolutely cannot wait for this game. I was never as big a fan of the series as Waka, but I managed to finish the games on GBA some years ago and they were awesome. I'm confident that DKCR, being developed by Retro, will be just as good if not better.
EDIT: Kyle has already explained. _________________

Did the embedding for you. The last two vids have embedding disabled.
Basically follow the steps up there. _________________

I'm sooooooooooooo excited for this, but I'm a bit bummed they've ditched the Kremlins. My ideal DKC would have been to stick with the pirate themes from DKC2, Kremlins, and all that jazz.
I'm also a bit worried about the lack of any confirmed animal buddies. Hopefully they dont get scrapped. _________________

@Jarrod Speaking of Jazz, i'm almost just as excited for the new soundtrack, Although I have no idea if it's by the same guy (David Wise thanks Jarrod!)
Either way, I hope it's as fantastic and as deep as DKC3 soundtrack (not to mention DKC2)
Just as a fun fact, Me and my brother a while ago had actually started developing ideas for our own DKC game we were gonna make once I was a good enough programmer, we put a bunch of ideas together and it was pretty fun. If I ever finish it, i'll put it up here one day, but it probably won't be for a few years or so, so don't hold your breath .
With that in mind, what kind of level themes are you guys expecting? we saw jungle (giveaway) but also some beach action, and a bit of aztec again. What else you guys reckon is in the mix? I'm hoping against a space one, since that theme isn't very DK appropriate. But I assume, from the look of the baddies that there'll be some sort of tribal village type area.
As for themes i'd like to see? I'd like the water levels to be based on like, a really thick amazon jungle type. _________________

David Wise left Rare, so it would be amazing if Retro would hire him for DKCR, but I doubt it will happen. I'm pretty sure Kenji Yamamoto is doing the soundtrack. He did a fantastic job with the Metroid games, so fingers crossed his skills translate well.
As for environments, I'm up for whatever. I've loved the huge variety in the DKC level locations, and I expect it to be a similar case here.
Its comforting to know that Retro were not just dumped with DKCR, but instead put their hands up for it due to being big fans. Even if it changes up the formula and style quite a bit (which it seems to be doing), I'm sure they're going to do the DKC franchise justice and deliver a fantastic game.
And they better. The DKC trilogy holds a massive place in my heart. _________________

I doubt the Kremlings are going to be ignored entirely. At the very least, I'm sure K Rool is going to pop up as a 'surprise' final boss.
Whats rather interesting to note is that in Mario Baseball for the Gamecube, and maybe in the Wii version, I don't know, K Rool appears in tribal clothes for seemingly no reason whatsoever. This was like, 2006 though. So its almost definitely a coincidence, but still... its interesting, at least.
And yes, the animal buddies better return. I'm sure they will, though, and Retro didn't want to blow their load in one go. _________________

Yeah I don't like that there seems to be no Kremlings. _________________ Welcome to the internet. Where any joke can turn into WWIII.

Wow I don't really get excited about new games anymore, but this one is an exception. Looks like I may have to pick up a Wii. The closer this stays to the originals the better.

This game could certainly be great fun but better than the originals ? Impossible I say. You can't improve on perfection and DKC2 is very very close to perfect . _________________
No. I would NOT like disc protection on that game. Thankyou.

The game looks great and apparently will be out by the end of the year, so not much longer to wait.
No Kremlings whatsover, and no animal buddies confirmed yet is a bit of a bummer, that and there apparently won't be any underwater levels either, they say that it just slows the platforming action down, which is not what they want...

No water levels either. Sadly the more I read about this game the less I am interested in it. Luckily I will buy it anyway just because it's old school style DKC. _________________ Welcome to the internet. Where any joke can turn into WWIII.

donkey konkey jungle beat: returns?
feels much more like a sequelto JB rather than the country series.. ie. heart life system, hitting the enemy in a cinematic style (at 1:34) and the whole art style (ie. the way the banana zooms to the top to be specific) is exactly the same. now don't get me wrong, i loved the DKCs and i loved JB but i think this is more of a JB game, just the whole look and feel of it, which is fine, but when it's branded as donkey kong COUNTRY: returns, i'm expecting more of a DKC feeling
because DKC was much more popular than JB, it's just got the old name switch?

For those concerned about the music, it would seem that some tracks will be remixes of classics. Check out this video;
DKC fans will recognise the tune. _________________

Mine Cart Madness!!!! Man I hope that there are alot of remix's cause those songs fit the game too well. New songs COULD be good, but old songs are a proven formula to fit. A classic case of if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I love these guys. I do hope that they get music from all three original DKC's though. Cause getting Stickerbush Symphony and Nuts and Bolts would also be fantastic. And who can forget Disco Train!!! Total Yes. _________________

Am I the only one that's really not that excited by this? I mean I was expecting a new Donkey Kong Country to be... well something new? Instead we get basically the same game I played back on the SNES?
I mean this is supposed to be DK's big return to normal performers since DK64 back in 99 and its another 2d platformer? _________________

If anything, it shows that Kenji Yamamoto knows what he's doing. I expect plenty of new tracks, but they'll likely be very good. Yamamoto can do no wrong. _________________

This is probably old news, but since it hasn't been posted.
A confirmed release for Europe is December 3rd.
