Well, Nintendo just owned E3 for me. Friggin brillant lineup.
A new Zelda, Epic Mickey, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Mario Sports, Dragon Quest, Golden Sun, Metroid: Other M and the 3DS (which already has alot of support). Very impressed.
Such a solid lineup of titles and some nice surprises for fans. This is what makes Nintendo so special. _________________

I'm not going to lie. That one second from the left should probably cover her face with the 3DS.
From me, another Zelda title? Couldn't care less. But the 3DS makes up for it, along with a new Donkey Kong.
Quite pleased these year from Nintendo.

Awww... Man... I was ready to ignore the 3DS as a gimmicky piece of crap with no good games... The Nintendo games don't interest me, but look at that third party support. With games like Persona, Res. Evil, Super Robot Wars and more, guess Nintendo will be getting a chunk of my paycheque once the 3DS drops. Just hope it's not region-locked. _________________

I think Nintendo just won the game. Seriously. Very impressive list of games, the Wii looks as though it's finally going to have a good list of games this year, and the 3DS has a stunning list of games before it's even released. I'm also glad to see the 3D can be basically turned off on the 3DS, because some developers are going to do a good job of it, and others terrible, so if they fuck it up, I can just turn it off. Can't wait for DK country, epic mickey among other things.
EDIT: Also, looking at the mario kart 3DS screenshots... is that the Wii circuit, Koopa Cape in the 3rd one?

Wow before I looked at this thread, I thought Nintendo had the best E3 just because of the DKC.But now after seeing and reading about the 3DS, Nintendo smashed E3.
The only thing I dont like about the new DKC is the fact that there's no Kremlings. But that's not gonna stop me from buying it.
But if those pics for 3DS games really are real time (Until a console/handheld is actually released, I don't take screenshots as 100% real) then holy freaking shit balls _________________ Welcome to the internet. Where any joke can turn into WWIII.

Most of them are.
The Metal Gear Solid 3 shots are 100% accurate. They've got a demo on the show floor that basically scripts a scenario that you cant 'play', but can watch and move the camera about, so you know its all rendered in real time. Here's a cam video;
The Resident Evil one is touched up, but apparently only in the AA, and actually looks amazing. Much like the MGS3 demo, you cant control it, but its rendered in real time and lets you control the camera.
Basically, it seems like a really solid portable. Geometry rendering is pretty PSP-ish, maybe even a little weaker, but getting a high geo pushing cpu in a handheld is a bitch. Instead it seems they've got a GPU that's quite accustomed to some industry standard shading. Not overly high end, but enough to push stuff like normal maps, specular lighting, bloom, etc. Arguably even better than the Wii.
Even then it needs to be remembered that every game on the system is essentially rendering every frame twice for the 3D effect, so there's a lot of really strong power reserved purely for 3D.
All in all, it should be pretty great. _________________

Is it wrong that I don't get the whole love in for 3D gaming and as such don't really give much of a damn for the 3DS? I mean sure, the games are decent games being showcased (by and large) it's not like Resident Evil became "Zombiez and friends!" or anything, but really, another DS variation that ties into a hype in regards to movies and we're happy about this development? I can't help but think why everything in visual media currently has to be focused on graphics graphics graphics graphics and more graphics.
Simply because it's suddenly in 3D, liek, zomg sliced bread! No longer do I have to shove an entire loaf in my mouth our bludgeon it with a rock! THANKS NINTENDO!
I dunno... I'm not sure I like 3D gaming becoming a focus of any sort in gaming.

If there's anyone who can make something out of the 3D craze, beyond just 'Whoa, I'm looking into the screen!', it'll be Nintendo. They've made it painfully clear that it's never just about the visuals for them. If they thought to make the significant step of launching a new handheld with 3D in mind, they've seen something worthwhile in it.
I don't see this launch as Nintendo jumping on a bandwagon. That's never been their style. If anything, they're trailblazers. I think we can expect something surprising to arise from this.
And for a final note, the DS had it's detractors early on too. Look how that turned out ;) _________________

Nintendo 3DS wins E3.
The graphics - stunning!
The sheer number of first party and third party titles and companies supporting it is stunning.
Ninja Gaiden, Splinter Cell, Resident Evil, Street Fighter IV, Metal Gear and more! No way. Amazing.
Nintendo have surely won back the fans who were beginning to lose faith.
Get 'em Ninty!
PS - EB website are estimating a AU350 price tag for the 3DS.

Nintendo, Miyamoto specifically, explains the direction a bit in the Iwata Asks sections they put up after E3.
Basically his argument is that games are ultimately rendered as a 2D image, even when 3D. You still have to guess depth because there's no true depth. The idea behind the 3DS is that the depth is very real now as both eyes are getting sensory information.
That can potentially create a greater sense of presence in the gameworld, and a much easier way to calculate depth. He used examples such as flying in StarFox and now understanding the position of the craft relative to everything else on screen, and in a 3D Mario navigating under a coin box and jumping under it.
From a technical perspective he's right. Actually giving each eye the right sensory information could add a great amount of depth to the gameworlds, and make understanding depth relativity between everything in the world much easier.
Whether or not it will work that way is impossible to say. Its gonna be one of those things we need to see for ourselves to understand, unfortunately. _________________

For me the idea is brilliant because it's just there and will work. You don't need a new TV and you don't need glasses. Just look at all the awesome games they have in the works. It's like gaming xmas. Pilotwings! Finally!
It's just smart from Nintendo. If they can keep the price point down, which no doubt they will, it will sell like hot-friggin-cakes. It's the DS but does 3D. It's proven winner onto of another winner. Added a functional analogue stick is just the icing.
It will actually help the 3D push in the mainstream I think.
I'm really interested to see the specs of the hardware and what internal storage will be. Hopefully they do something like the Wii and allow you to download games onto a SD card.
Now Nintendo, we need to talk. You almost have it. But you need to do a couple more things for me.
1) Please syncronise all the Wii/DS shop accounts and then allow us to play the VC games on our 3DS. I know Wiiware won't work, but VC games should be a shoe it.
2) Please launch the 3DS VC ASAP and have a full range of DS range available for digital download. _________________ Shin J Leon.

It will be for 3DSware (continuation of DSiware and Wiiware) and hopefully also Virtual Console. _________________
