well now its time to get a 3D tv me thinks.
State of Origin 1 in 3D, dont know if it would work to well when im drunk but still very tempting to upgrade.
(Only for NSW viewers, because QLD suck....GO NSW)

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeew! Can't believe we beat the Broncos! First time I've ever been to a Knights Broncos game where we actually won!
If you can't beat the Knights this season, no chance you're going to win the premiership.
Off to the casino while the luck is riding high....

Thoughts on the NSW side?
I think Idris on the bench is a joke. What positions can he cover other than centre?
If I were to pick the side, I'd be putting Hayne at fullback and Gidley on the bench, there really isn't many better utilities than him. He covers so many positions, and since Craig Wing is gone, he's perfect. I'd also move Lyon to the centres and push Tahu out to the wing to cover Hayne moving to fullback, and then pick someone else at 5/8. Anywho, the team is:
1. Kurt Gidley (c)
2. Brett Morris
3. Matt Cooper
4. Timana Tahu
5. Jarryd Hayne
6. Jamie Lyon
7. Brett Kimmorley
8. Michael Weyman
9. Michael Ennis
10. Josh Perry
11. Trent Waterhouse
12. Ben Creagh
13. Anthony Watmough
Interchange:
14. Jamal Idris
15. Tom Learoyd-Lahrs
16. Luke Lewis
17. Brett White
And my team would have been:
1. Jarryd Hayne
2. Brett Morris
3. Matt Cooper
4. Jamie Lyon
5. Timana Tahu
6. Greg Bird/Trent Barret/Todd Carney
7. Brett Kimmorley (I'd love Mitchell Pierce but he's injured)
8. Michael Weyman
9. Michael Ennis
10. Josh Perry
11. Anthony Watmough/Nathan Hindmarsh
12. Ben Creagh
13. Paul Gallen
Interchange:
14. Kurt Gidley
15. Tom Learoyd-Lahrs
16. Luke Lewis
17. Brett White _________________

Burt is like Wolfman Williams/Turner. Ridiculously average.
Speaking of ridiculous I wrote this massive post on another forum detailing my side. It read like an awesome university essay but I'll downsize it and only explain the obvious.
Big Pete's side
1. Josh Dugan
2. Jarryd Hayne
3. Jamie Lyon
4. Matt Cooper
5. Brett Morris
6. Trent Barrett
7. Brett Kimmorley
8. Luke Douglas
9. Michael Ennis
10. Michael Weyman
11. Nathan Hindmarsh (c)
12. Anthony Watmough
13. Luke Lewis
14. Kade Snowden
15. Tom Learoyd Lahrs
16. Paul Gallen
17. Greg Bird
People say Dugan is too young and I say BS. The guy is insanely good and insanely mature and isn't that big a risk, in fact he's far more reliable than Hayne. Speaking of, giving Hayne the wing position keeps s**tty players like Tahu and Robertson out.
Barrett HAS to be picked at five eigth. He was the second best player last year in the Blues only victory and I've yet to see him play badly at Origin level.
One of the most important positions in Rugby League is the front row. If you're not making metres through the middle, you're going to struggle especially if your backline is fairly average. So I went with a workhorse prop in Douglas who's shown plenty of heart (hey he's stuck by the Sharks, that IS heart) and at least he isn't White, Perry or Kite.
Snowden off the bench is just a beast. Breaks through tackles and makes a lot of them to boot. He'll be handy maintaining or even winning momentum for the Blues.
Now for my man Nathan (Hindmarsh). I've changed my tune on him so many times that it should be deemed criminal but I believe if anything else he does offer the Blues a lot. For starters he's a great workhorse and unlike crappy workhorses in Laffranchi he can actually come up with some quality defence. The other part is that everybody loves him. I feel the Blues are always at war with themselves and to have somebody like Hindmarsh would at least get all those old NSW players behind the side and praise the team.
Despite playing poorly, Watmough get Nate Myles'd in. What I mean by that is, despite playing poorly at club level, he gets automatic selection because he's an Origin machine.
Lewis is the best lock in the competition and has been since last year. Also, thinking as a media student, his name-sake was pretty bloody good too.
Bird and Gallen are on the bench not because I rate them highly, but because of their role as 'Bash Brothers'. Again, it's just a ploy to get Blues fans behind the side.
I still don't think that side would win, but they would at least go mighty close and it would lay an awesome platform for next year. _________________

NSW team is a joke. I expect the Maroons to give us a smack on the bottom and send us on our way. In fact, I'll be glad if they do. NSW needs either a new coach or new selectors if they ever want to win another series.
There are about a million better options than Lyon at 5/8 - somebody who actually plays 5/8 for their club would be a start. Incredible that a guy can say that he doesn't want to play rep football, then say that he wouldn't want to play 5/8 in Origin - and he gets picked as Blues 5/8.
Idris on the bench is laughable. A massive liability in defence. Not to mention the fact that having a centre on the bench is just plain stupid.
Gidley at fullback, after his listless performance last year, another head-scratcher. Either put Hayne there and have Gidley on the bench or put Dugan there and keep Hayne on the wing.
Glad that TLL has kept his bench spot, he's hit a great bit of form.
Queensland team on the other hand looks absolutely deadly. On paper the score would be 60-12. Cronk is the perfect replacement for Hunt on the bench. Shillington, Costigan and Taylor are all handy weapons.
I'm thinking something like 30-6 for Game 1. NSW will have another kneejerk reaction and change the halves combo again.
I like your team, Big Pete.

The reason why the Lyon selection is so poor for mine is that it brings in Tahu who has never played well for the Blues and has been ordinary so far this season. _________________

Jamie Lyon making the blues side and Hindmarsh not making it shows the difference in mentality between the cultures of the two states.
Parker has to be unlucky to miss out, he's had a good season from what I've watched.
That being said, I think it will be a close match. Most Origin games are no matter the team.
PS. Can someone please help me with a good place to d/l the game? Because I normally watch at about 445-615(ish) each morning for the 730 games on a live stream, but Origin doesn't start till 8, so it will mean it won't finish till 645am here and I leave for work at 625...last thing I want to do is leave for work with 20 minutes of the match to go! So if there is the alternative of downloading it the day after that would be perfect! Thanks in advance _________________

Wow, I'm not too happy with the NSW team. We need players in the halves that can lead & take control. Noddy does that & so does Trent Barrett. Barrett was good in his game last year. I don't like Jamie Lyon at all, especially at 5/8. Idris on the bench is stupid. Gidley should be on the bench, I thought he was alright at FB but he can fill a lot of spots. I would rather Michael Jennings for Tahu.
I think NSW should do what Brisbane did against the Storm & target Greg Inglis in Defense. They scored points doing that but I wouldn't be surprised if they ignore him.
QLD Fans, enjoy your win. _________________

I think putting hayne into fullback, swapping tahu for burt and putting him on the wing.
gidley could play as a utility
and even putting hindmarsh on the team.... i mean hes reliable and a workhorse... and of course he has alot of experience the side is lacking.

Has anyone noticed the 3d trial on digital channel 40? It just keep replaying the footy with music over the top. I have a normal TV so all I get is two images running next to each other. _________________

Well played QLD.
It was frustrating for mine watching such a scrappy game with so many handling errors (although maybe I'm a little bias ) But it did seem NSW handed it to QLD far too much and certainly didn't seem to be alert where Slater was given it's expected he's going to be roaming somewhere in back play.
I thought late in the game when it seemed Hayne was at fullback, Lyon played centre and Gidley shifted to the halves NSW looked a lot more dangerous, granted QLD seemed to have it won and NSW were just chancing their hand, but the NSW selctors have something to answer for here I think. I also thought Kimmorley overplayed his hand. It seemed he was trying a little too hard.
Ugh, work time now. _________________

I agree with you about Kimmorley, but what option did he have as his team didn't have a 5/8. Just like the year (2008 game 1?) that Hunt was 5/8 for QLD. Unfair expectations of him I think.
As for me I had to leave for work straight after NSW scored the try to bring them within 2 points, such a worrying day at work waiting to access the internet!
FOr mine NSW trys were based on our errors really. Just kick it up and hope for the best. It didn't go too badly and could have won them the game, but they always need a backup plan.
Now for a 2-0 lead for Lang Park! So pumped. Smith 100% back and Hannant/Price should return! _________________

1. Kurt Gidley (c) - No, maybe position change
2. Brett Morris - Yes but didn't get the ball enough. Good defence.
3. Matt Cooper - No, to old, to many mistakes.
4. Timana Tahu - Maybe but probably someone more deserving
5. Jarryd Hayne - Yes but at fullback
6. Jamie Lyon - Yes, move to centres. Finch? Barrett? Gidley? Mortimer?
7. Brett Kimmorley - Yes, played hard but Mitchell Pierce if fit.
8. Michael Weyman - Maybe. Galloway?
9. Michael Ennis - Yes, tried hard.
10. Josh Perry - No? I didn't really notice Perry
11. Trent Waterhouse - Yes
12. Ben Creagh - Maybe but didn't play as well as last year.
13. Anthony Watmough - Goes hard but a couple of mistakes.
Interchange:
14. Jamal Idris - Maybe but a novelty until he is older. A couple of defensive lapses.
15. Tom Learoyd-Lahrs - Yes.
16. Luke Lewis - Yes.
17. Brett White - No.
Bird, Gallen and Hindmarsh should be in there somewhere. No chemistry on the field last night for the blues especially with a number of players out of position. Can't the selectors get a list of all the players playing in proper position and pick the most in form ones? _________________

NSW should just play their players in their week in week out positions. Why they think they'll cut the mustard playing out of position in the toughest game going is beyond me. You saw the result last night. Lockyer and Thurston dominated the kicking game, while Kimmorley was ok, Lyon's kicking was absent. Not enough options for them > therefore too predictable. _________________ I'd be apathetic, but I can't be arsed.
