| Quote: | | The majority of respondents were male (21,832 male and 2,444 female). |
| Quote: | | Yes votes were 91% male, 9% female. |
| Quote: | | No votes were 65% male, 35% female. |
So if my math is right, just a shade under 490 women made submissions for an R18+ rating, vs. 12735 men.
That means a piddling 4% of concerned (and therefore arguably 'hardcore') gamers are female.
Good god. It's even worse than we thought.
... edit. No wait that can't be right it has to be 9%. Duh, Sean.
Still bad!
Further edit: Jeeze, it's right there on the CHART. You need sleep, man.

A large majority of the submissions were made from people over 18, meaning that there is a strong indication games are not just for kids.
Why were there so many WA politicians' submissions?

@Shrink,
Probably an organized movement. One of them likely rallied a few friends in.
God. I never fail to be amazed at pro-censorship people; that they could be this passionate about stopping other people enjoying themselves.

That they could be politicians and so passionate about this while their states burn budgets is probably the most damning thing.
"Don't worry people, we've stopped those nasty R18+ games, however I can't be arsed financing this road so you get a toll, oh and more tax here, here and here and I voted for an increase in my paycheck and benefits."
Just as radio station staff can't ring in to their own station while on air to win a freakin volvo, so too should Pollies not be able to impact public submissions on possible legislation in my view. "And the winner is.. Sandy, sitting right next to me, thanks for all those who called in but this contest was blatantly rigged, tune in next week when I win a boat!"

What concerns me is the fact that, even knowing that the overwhelming majority of the public don't want internet filtering, the Government still wants to push it through.
Which just shows that they still think they know best, regardless of public opinion.

The good news on the latter case is that the government finally appears to be in dangerous water; Rudd's approval rating has dropped through the floor of late. It would be an excellent time to write the PM a letter and remind him there's a large group of constituents who would be prompted to change their vote for him if he'd make one policy change.
Go, do it! Write letters, my people!

"To the honouable soon to be ousted Prime Minister.
What's crackalackin holmes? Hear the repo men are coming to take your shit, that must suck like wet pastry dawg! I hear you're hip with the lingo, so let me break it down Kev, there's too much tomato sauce man, to much, do not want, take it back. Yo want a fair shake mate, you give the adults a fair take too bro, you feel me? R18+ classification for video games & interactive entertainment and you watch your approval rating soar like one of them gay bird things, kookaburras, for shizzle!"
And the reply from the big man shall just be "too right mate, which fruit do you want to be so we can make a big monument of that shit!"
And that kiddies is how the big guava came about.
In other news it would probably be better if we weren't such slackarses and actually protested to get media attention (like those people with their booze) but eh, I suppos eletters are the next best step.
