|

As i was shopping for games online i noticed the release of Arkham Asylum GOTY for both xbox/ps3 will come with 3d glasses!
"Batman Arkham Asylum Game of The Year Edition
Batman: Arkham Asylum Game of the Year Edition adds a new dimension to the multi award-winning gameplay experience, with support for TriOviz 3D on both the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. TriOviz 3D is a patented 3D process which adds depth to the game, visible to players wearing the included 3D glasses. By leveraging the depth-of-field while maintaining the original gameplay and colour integrity, TriOviz 3D creates a far more immersive gaming experience, allowing console players to dive deeper into the gothic world of Arkham Asylum."

haha apparently, only PAL tvs are getting it. nice.

Does anyone know if this is out or is going to come out here in Australia..?
Just reading the AA wiki (yeah i know its not gospel..) and it says it was released on Mar 26, but none of the major retailers here have it listed on their website, and I'm tempted to buy it from zavvi since its on sale at the moment

I think that the 3d thing is overall gimmicky at best. The 3d glasses actually make you quite dizzy and don't expect something comparable to avatar in imax. If its cheap and you dont have a copy, by all means get one (zavvi's sale now would be a good price). If you do already have a copy this is not one worth paying for.

As I said on the ecogamer forums, had this for a couple weeks now, it's alright to try, but it is a bit blurry and can make you dizzy. There are a couple nice moments but it's more the potential of how proper 3D games can look.
Don't buy it for the 3D. _________________ My YouTube game videos!

I have a copy of it sitting on my desk. It was less than $50 on playasia a few weeks ago. Didn't buy it for the 3D. TBH I didn't even know it had 3D when I bought it. _________________

The ones I purchased from zavvi/thehut had a cardboard slipcase which is holographic on the front. The ones I purchased from Play-Asia was just a normal case. _________________

Just so people dont get disappointed, this isn't the 3D that's appearing popping up with TVs and at cinemas.
This is the old skool red/green/blue 3D that'll give you a headache.

So I finally got the game a few weeks ago, did anyone who already had played/finished the game on the orginal version lose all their trophies when they played the GOTY version?

Not me. I had about 50% trophies on the original version then when I got the GOTY version I still had them _________________ My YouTube game videos!

i heard on xbox i think well one of the consoles for sure that you can get two sets of achievements for the game. As in you can get 1000 points and another 1000 from the same game _________________

I havn't tried mine out yet, but that is the case (and a amall part of the reason i chose to purchase the GOTY edition and go through the game again).
Also if you were to get the pc GFWL version, you could gradually add another 1000/1000 to your Xbox/Microsoft Live profile

Well Technically you can get 1000 from the original on both the Xbox and PC and then another 1000 each from the GOTY version on PC and Xbox (as GFWL recognises it as a separate game i believe). So you can end up with a rather easy to get 4000 points from one game.

not pissed or anything because i could probably care less about trophies, but thought it was a bit strange...

Are they gone even when you play the non-GOTY version of the game?

I got a chance to try out the 3D effect yesterday at work. I must say, for what it is, I found it very impressive! You get a bit of extra depth put into the game, which looks very cool indeed. However, one part of the game had me crawling through a very claustrophobic tunnel system and holy crap, I have never felt so nauseous in my life. =P _________________

Try synching your trophies again, sometimes after installing it wipes them locally but the server will send them back to you.
Also check if there are two Batman:AA items in your list. A few games with re-releases will create a separate group - I noticed this with Demon's Souls. _________________
