Following up to the fan favorite release of FFVII and FFVIII, PS3 and PSP owners will have a new and exciting opportunity to immerse themselves, once again, into the world of Final Fantasy.
Considered by many gamers to be a must-play title for any RPG fan, FFIX will soon to be available for North American fans via the PlayStation Network. If you missed Final Fantasy IX during the early PlayStation era, or are dreaming of reliving the time-tested FFIX adventure, your chance is coming soon. |

*Dances*
I never managed to pick up a copy of IX, i did rent it a few times and really liked it. So i'll be picking this up and putting it on the PSP.
And probably just like VII and VIII i'll get somewhere into the second disk and get distracted by something sparkly on another system and not come back to it _________________

I have never played FFVII or FFVIII before until they came out on the PSN, now I beat them both and FFVIII is one of my favourite games. So basically, I CANNOT WAIT FOR THIS. _________________

Yeah, this is sorta week-old news, but good news all the same. IX is the only PSOne generation FF that I never managed to finish because of the time I chose to play it; when the gap between PSOne and 2 was being bridged. Once that X demo came out, there was just no going back.
This could make a good purchase for my PSPGo when I pick it up in a few weeks time. _________________

"soon to be available for North American fans"
This worries me... after looking at the US PSOne list I just got pissed... there's a heap of games on their store I'd love to pick up. I hate that we have to do this stupid work around to get them. No doubt this one will make it over to our PSN store but how long will it take?

Here's hoping they optimise the speed of the game before release. The worst thing about FFIX was the loading/transitions btw the combat/world. Its a bit too slow.
Maui - these games you should get from the US store. The aus release is the compromised black barred version that runs slower. _________________

This is sort of MONTHS old news, but the second they announced 7 was coming, I wanted 9. I CANNOT WAIT.
TheMan: They will not change anything. It will load a little faster because its running off a hard disk but that's it.
Other people, THEMAN is also correct, BUY THE NTSC VERSION IT RUNS 35% FASTER THAN PAL. I know I sound like a broken record on the topic of PSone FF games being ludicrously slow and ugly, but it physically hurts me to see people ignore me and buy the PAL one anyway. _________________

Wow, I did not know that... thanks guys. There's no issue then with playing them on a PAL console like there is with the Xbox originals, or playing them with my Aus account on theat console? Does that go for ALL the PSOne games on the US store? I'd love to pick up a few things like Wild Arms, Grandia, Pandemonium... and some others I've forgotten atm.

PS3 is region free, I have played many NTSC PS3 demos/PS1 classics on my PAL PSN account. As long as your TV can display the signal, which it most likely can you'll be fine. _________________

You have to make a US PSN account, there's a thread here: http://palgn.com.au/viewtopic.php?p=598170
You have to use US PSN points to buy it too. Australian credit card will not work and points are not compatible between AU and US. That's all in the guide too.
Once you have downloaded the game though, you can sign in as your regular AU account and it will still be able to play the game (any account on the console with the buyer account can play it). _________________

I've heard that you can't do that on the PSP Go though, has anyone got some information on whether you can hot-swap accounts between PSP models (specifically the Go, if possible) and still play DLC? _________________

Thanks again... I knew PS3's were region free, just didn't know if that was the case for PSOne originals as well, will be grabbing a bunch now.

Ok cool, one of the problems I had with FF9 was the battles felt a little slow... Perhaps having the US version will help matters.
Looking forward to this one, I never did play more than an hour or two of it back in the day.

US versions aren’t always superior, but Square simply didn’t optimise anything for the PAL market. PAL versions run slower and carry massive borders. That’s the short of it.

Theres now ay I am going PAL then, still own a complete FF NTSC USA collection from my importing days (ever since FFVI hung at the ending on a PAL snes using an import converter, I was so devastated that I imported from then until this gen!).
I thought they would have the process down by now for releasing a standard version across PSN with an option for 60hz NTSC or 50hz PAL, its not like we all have ancient CRT TV;s nowadays..... _________________

I think Nintendo and Sony really don't care. They just release a CD dump of the PAL versions onto the online stores.
Probably because they don't want to have to touch the game with all the European lanuages.
Which I guess is a fair point. _________________ Shin J Leon.

Let us not forget those borders are 1/3 the height of the image, and as a result the image is 1/3 squashed down so everyone is short and fat.
Playing in PAL and then switching to NTSC is like "i didnt realise the console was this powerful" or something.
When I first played FFX in NTSC, it was amazing, it moved so fast. _________________
