| Quote: | God of War fans –
I’m pleased to share some exciting news involving our favorite Spartan warrior. Fresh off his incredible run in God of War III, Kratos will be coming back to PSP and PSPgo in God of War: Ghost of Sparta!
The last time we saw Kratos on the portable platform was in God of War: Chains of Olympus, a game that coupled stunning visuals with stellar gameplay and is still the highest rated PSP title of all-time on Metacritic.com. So what can you expect this time?
First of all, it’s developed by Ready At Dawn Studios, in close collaboration with SCEA’s Santa Monica Studio, so we have the same talented team that brought you Chains of Olympus — they know the franchise and know what it takes to create an amazing game. I can also tell you from
first-hand experience that we are pushing the limits of what PSP can do with state-of-the-art visual technologies, higher resolution environments, and greater depths of scale. We’re also providing over 25% more gameplay, an improved weapon system, and new magical powers — all enjoyed anytime, anywhere.
As for the storyline, this new adventure will serve as a prequel of sorts, picking up where God of War left off. Ghost of Sparta tells the story of Kratos’ ascension to power as the God of War. In his quest to rid the nightmares that haunt him, Kratos must face his dark past to prove his worthiness to the Gods — a journey that will reveal the origins of lost worlds and finally answer long-awaited questions about Kratos’ tattoo, scar, and family.
Well, that’s all I can tell you right now, but we’ll have plenty more to share as we move closer to E3 and our release later this year, so stay tuned for more God of War: Ghost of Sparta news and be sure to keep an eye on SpartansStandTall.com and http://forums.godofwar.com for updates. |
Third shot seems to show a new "CROTCH MISSILE" feature. _________________

I love how they release super high resolution images with anti-aliasing for PSP games when the screen can only do 480x272.
I remember some of the GT PSP screenshots Sony released were several thousand pixels in width. _________________

Doctored screens can go to hell. There's no way in hell a PSP can replicate that kind of AA.
I'm sure it'll look great, but yeah, those screens... *sigh*
Looking forward to it. _________________

actually, those screen-shots are closer to 4.5X the resolution of the PSP screen, if you double both vertical and horizontal res, you're actually increasing the res by a factor of 4 _________________

Can't wait!
Chains of Olympus was great and this is shaping up to be even better. The one thing that let it down was that it was way too short.
25% more gameplay? Awesome _________________

It would be safe to say, that by doctoring the first image further, we can see what should be the original image...
[Note that this is still not representative of the final product, and is in fact a joke...]
Ahhhh, I love photoshop!
Anyway, after playing the first God of War, and now moving through the other games, I can't wait to see how this goes. Was Chains of Olympus good? _________________ Playing: Fallout: New Vegas

This reminds me I still have the first game sitting on my shelf unplayed
From the time I spent with the demo, though, I loved being able to play God of War without having to use the Right Analogue Stick to evade. It's the one good thing that came from the PSP's lack of dual-sticks. I've never understood why dodging would be mapped to the Right Stick; you move your character with the Left Stick, why would you suddenly switch to another stick to move your character a little bit faster? And then every action game after God of War went and copied it! Ugh. _________________

time for a bump!
got a code to DL the demo of this today - pretty freaking awesome. more of the same, sure, but that's pretty much what you want, isn't it?
The Scylla is the boss of the demo, who pops up in several instances and causes events.
you only have the Blades of Athena (pretty sure that's what they're called in game, despite the timing suggesting they should be the Blades of Chaos) and the Arms of Sparta (Spear and shield).
the AOS is clearly 300 inspired in terms of the attack animations they created, but it's all good. _________________
