surprised people say "this is what SFIV should have been"
SFIV was a brilliant game in its own right. and i doubt ppl would have wanted to wait another year for SSFIV.
I would much rather have SFIV and SSFIV as two seperate entities than just having SSFIV. _________________

Have the ps3 version in my hot hands, won't be playing it until later tonight.
Won't be "online" until Wednesday (capped since yesterday, won't reset until Wednesday).
Played it on the 360 a bit yesterday aswell, loving it.... don't know how i will spread my time between both versions, but i'll give it a crack

I actually found the opposite. My friend had his 360 at mine for a couple of days and we were playing both online. More often then not the 360 version lagged when the ps3 didn't. Might have something to do with my internet (optus cable). Its for that reason I've now decided to hold off on buying the 360 version too... at least for a week or 2 _________________

I laughed when I unlocked "This is Madness" trophy.
300 online matches already...Madness for sure.
Never put so much time so quickly in a game before!

Madcatz SFIV Fightstick $70USD ($100USD inc. shipping) from Gamestop
http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=73047
...so, opinions? Figured I'd post this here as opposed to the arcade stick thread, as I want to know from dedicated SFIV players.
I'm trying to warrant the purchase of a TE (noticed JBonline has it for $269 + shipping w. a copy of SSFIV!), and I know I'll sink the hours into it, no doubt, but I figured this should shut me up for awhile? _________________

The Madcatz Fightstick is apparently pretty average at best. It uses all Madcatz imitation parts and none of it is Sanwa (which the TE arcade stick uses).
The upside to the stick, is that it can be easily modded. I have a friend who bought that exact stick and modded out all the buttons and the joystick itself and replaced it all with Sanwa parts. It was a fairly easy process. You don't get the large chasis as you do with the TE edition but everything else responds nicely once all the Sanwa parts are in and connected correctly. _________________

Might have already been covered on a previous page but is anyone else amazed at how much this package is going for (in Australia, overseas seems about right)?
I know it contains the whole game plus a slew of extras but I was really expecting this to be $64 at most (same price as the RE5: Gold release). I guess 80 is now a budget release

Yes, it is quite pricey locally. Comparing to the UK where it's 30 GBP that's just 50 AUD. It's an equivalent price in Germany at 35 EUR too. I'm glad I got my pre-order for 69 AUD after all. _________________

Man I was doing decently on 4 a month or so back, but now with arcade stick I played like 10 matches before I won a single game. I jumped online cause I heard lots of scrubs would be online and Id have a chance, but I guess im the scubbiest of the bunch _________________

Tis true. It's different but well worth the time.
I am trying madly to knock off FFXIII atm so I can trade it in and it's taking way too much of my SSIV time. _________________ Shin J Leon.

I wasn't the biggest fan of the original SF4 but all the new characters added have piqued my interest. Upon playing it, it feels very different to the original. The lower damage output is what i like the most. Making matches longer than 2 SPD and a heavy punch from Zangief.
The breakdown of "supers" is nice. Allocating a lot of them as powered up versions of specials, then an actual super and the selectable Ultra. I find that the speed at which the gauges fills is absolutely perfect. Making for plenty of variety and extra tactics enhancing beyond the standard moves and specials for a more dynamic and unpredictable match.
I really love the cast selection. Selecting some of the most technical characters from SF3 and Alpha (I guess also popular). I was glad to see Guy intact as he was my favorite int he Alpha series. I just wished they included some characters from SFEX just to round out the history lesson.
I have the 360 version with no arcade stick and its bugging me a bit as the dpad is just rubbish. I can make do but believe it or not double QCF is difficult on that damn dpad. 360 Command throws I can do, even 720's but smaller movements that dpad is just stupid. I'd love to shell out for a stick but I've turned more of a casual fighter despite playing so much of these games at a good level way back when.
On a strange note. I found Seth's difficulty to be more fair. UNTIL I played as Dan. Not sure if its part of the joke with Dan but Seth was absolutely relentless when I played as Dan. Teleporting everywhere, telegrpahing all my moves and seems to have an abundant supply of super meter for EX Specials. It was just insane. Yet all the other characters I played he didn't even come to 10% of that ferocity. Poor Dan.
Loving it though. I'm up for friendly matches for those with 360's. _________________

In terms of the price, i can see why it is classified as a new game... but i also see the argument that it could have been priced a little different. But in any case, $79.95 is better than $99.95 or $119.95.
I still look at it as value for money, it started all the way back with buying Street Fighter II CE on the Mega Drive. I Justified the purchase by saying if i play it as often as i did at the arcade (and more often), i'd get tremendous value for money. Each time i'd progress past the press start screen and either play the arcade or versus modes, my line of thinking was that was money in my pocket (that i don't put in the arcade versions to play).
Even with other games like NBA JAM or Mortal Kombat, i'd also have the same line of thinking with the home console versions (if i play them 343247234 times, i've saved $$$ by not pumping the money in an arcade machine).
By that line of thinking, i've already sky rocketed past the amount of money i've paid for the 360 version, and just about to do the same with the ps3 (granted i got the ps3 version for close to almost $30 off the AUS RRP).

What difficulty are you playing on? I haven't tried Dan in Arcade yet but Seth is manageable in Hardest mode. _________________

So what characters do people think are the best ? (I know its early)
I mained Balrog in vanilla and I think he could easily be the best now. He got no real nerfs, has probably the best normals around and continues to hit like a truck. The few sagats I have run into have been pretty cake compared to back in SF4. Other notable mentions IMO are Abel (his new ultra is ), Chun (ex legs -> u2), Bison (u2 and better psycho crusher), Dhalsim (damage buff). Can't wait to see how it all pans out! _________________

I'm just playing on medium with all my characters just to get a feel for it. I had to continue quite a few times with that match-up of Dan and CPU Seth. Maybe I'm just a Dan noob but I was very aggressive with Dan. Constantly offensive (as you need to be against CPU Seth) with some minor combo's that actually deal a lot more damage than the Ultra against Seth.
As for best characters? Hard to know really. Personally I'm good with grapplers so I can conquer the game really easily with Zangief, T.Hawk, El Fuerte, Hakan and Abel. Zangief especially. There will always be imbalances but what they did here is very fair. It might seem like certain moves have ridiculous priority (E.Honda's Sumo Missile or Zangief's Lariat) but that's really the only ace in their sleeves from a rather workmanlike set of specials.
Personal Favorites:
- All grapplers (Zangief, Hakan, T.Hawk, Abel & El Fuerte)
- Guy
- Cody _________________

Trying to improve my use of focus attacks. I've been able to pull off the Dudley focus combo I mentioned earlier quite a few times. Refining my Cammy too. I noticed I'm having a easier time TK canceling in Super rather than the previous one. _________________
