A normal pre-owned title for a new release is $69 at JB. Noticed a God of War III in the pile at work and was tempted, but I've got waaaaay too much due out and in the pile.
If anyone is aware of Naughty Bear, Game has a pre-order deal where you can get a plush bear, I'm guessing in the style of the title character. For those unaware of Naughty Bear, think Conkers Bad Fur Day and you're half way there.

since game give you 70 dollars for crank in time i dont see how its THAT BAD of a deal really. Better than their usual 95 dollars for pre-owned games.
I really hope naughty bear turns out good. I like how different it is, but i seeing it failing for some reason. Fingers crossed _________________

Wii + Wii Sports - $299 - Target

Well its not like the price only went down for Harvey Norman, and they've been selling the Wii under RRP before, so how is it unreasonable? _________________

Because too many customers think the store bleeding losses is a good thing. I work in sales myself and I'm always happy to offer a discount to someone who asks and even sometimes when they don't, but when you get the TT/ACC-schooled, "streetwise", individuals come in and expect you to halve the price of a product with virtually no money in it just because they say, "Come ooooooon", your urge to kill goes into supernova.

Fair enough, but Zhou's argument seems to be that they don't need to discount the Wii because Nintendo just did. But presumably, you were 'bleeding losses' when you were selling a $399RRP Wii for $350 or whatever it was, so its not particularly unreasonable to assume that you would be able to do a $299RRP for less than that, too. _________________

What I meant to say was more close to what Fyuusii had to say. Sometimes you just get people who assume because you're a salesman you're out to rip them off. Even if you DO give them an awesome price. Ah well.

This is a really dumb question, and dont get offended (I'm a little un-pc), but...
Aren't you?
I mean really... I have a friend who works at JB, unfortunately, he works in the city (which means I have to travel that far). Anyway, my point is, if I go to Chatswood JB they offer me next to no discount, and I understand they dont get any commission on the gaming products, but even the computing products like laptops, cooling fan things the laptops sit on etc etc. But my friend offers me about 30~50% discount on the same product. Ok, lets say that the staff discount is something like 10%, where did the remaining 20~40% come from? Lets say the commission is another 10%, but if you are getting a staff discount, why would you get a commission, but for arguement sack, lets just say they do, thats still another 10~30%. So, as a salesman, you can offer about 10~30% discount, but they dont.
I guess, you as a sales man, dont have to, but not every customer who asks for a discount is out to leech you dry. How do you chose who to give discounts and not to give discounts? (And, no I'm not one of those people who say COME OOOOOOOOOOONNN!!!! I'm one of those people who ask, if I buy this this and that, whats the best price you can do for me?)
Just wondering more than anything else.

wow.
As for your other question of how do you decide who to give out discounts to.
It basically differs from sales person to sales person. I can say for sure being rude is not a good start towards getting a discount. _________________
