The graphics have a nice style to them, they have a particular character that I find attractive.
I've noticed jump points later on in the game that don't have an 'x' marker, probably because they are not essential (i.e. don't lead to anything).
I too don't mind the perceived linearity, actually I prefer it over open world stuff (which in itself is linear, except it gives the false impression of freedom but you still have to travel to point a to point b to progress the game).
And the plot, well< I like it and I don't mind reading background info. That said, even if I didn't read the datalog I'll still know what's going on. I don't see why some people are having trouble following the plot?

This the game I have been playing most of the time since its release. One of my friend has clocked 200+ hours, _________________ Play-Asia Affiliate Link For Gaming Bargain

Probably Afty is going for Platinum trophy, requiring one to acquire every weapon in the game. Which means dozens of hours of item farming. _________________

Is it just me or is this game just...really hard?
Chapter 11 is taking so long and it's because I have to retry all the bosses, even ones that are supposed to be "easy" like 5 times! _________________

I only had to retry two bosses in that game, both the same boss.
The game is not hard, just that one boss. You must just be awful at it _________________

The storyline bosses should be reasonably easy, except Vanille's summon. That said, it probably is quite a bit harder if you haven't done the first 14 optional quests or have been avoiding encounters.

I've done all 14 quests and avoided maybe the odd encounter but the storyline bosses pound me, hard. I guess I just suck. Why can't it be easy like FF8 =( _________________

I just got the platinum trophy. Took 129 hours. It's the second final fantasy I have ever completely finished after FFX.

That's amazing Swarley. I love the game. If I didn't sell some of the important weapons mid-game, I probably would have bothered to go for it too. I never got sick of the core battle system. _________________

So I've finished the game and knocked off some extra Cieth missions. But, apart from finishing these missions, what else do they give you? Is it just for ticking off things to do? I just don't see the point leveling characters and getting items for no end goal, is there one?

Trophies and Achievements. Seriously... that is it.
How about that grinding...? _________________

There are two ultimate bosses you can fight which will require decent equipment and near maxed crystariums. They're only re-skinned enemies with ridiculously powerful attacks unfortunately. I was hoping for a unique ultimate boss but alas.
Anyway I just 1000/1000'd it. Clocked in at 99 hours. The grinding needed for the treasure hunter achievement was a pain. I'm glad it's over with. Now I might start a second play-through

I would've been all for grinding on Pulse during the game (story), but after I've completed it I don't see the point. Well, that's a bit disappointing isn't it. I didn't even upgrade any of my weapons or accessories cause I didn't know which ones I would've got next. Bah.
-Update-
99 hours? Hm.. I think I can put all that extra time into something else more worth while. Maybe Resonance of Fate or SSF4 once it gets released!

Honestly, I'd say the end game stuff was pretty underwhelming. If I wasn't a completionist I would have given it a miss too. Play Resonance of Fate! It's a great RPG that is definitely worth your time.

I want to finish those Cieth missions but I honestly don't think I have it in me to get all the items and fully level. That's just too much

Well, I've had an attempt at the Cieth missions. Did all the Titan ones. Now I have a few left and damn they are annoying. Looks like I just need to grind levels and gil for equipment. Which is a shame, because I'm not going to.

I just clocked it at 53 hours. Great ending, it really was. Wow.
While I enjoyed the game completely, it really didn't feel like a FF game. I like what they did here but for the next single player title in the series, I'd like them to go back to the FF formula.
Awesome battle system though. Best in the series without doubt. It took the best bits from FFXII and made it better.
Also, that's probably the quickest I've ever completed a FF game. I didn't rush at all. If I did, I think I could have clocked it in 40 odd hours. _________________ Shin J Leon.

Alright, I'm only up to chapter 9 (got the game 2 days ago... not doing too shabby if I do say so myself) And I don't want to be spoiled, But i'm looking for advice on how to beat the Fal'Cie Boss at the end (I think) of The Palamecia. I destroy all the side things, then i get to work on the main bit, and when it's at half health, it does this move that OHKO's my whole party, regardless of how many buffs I have. Also, I hate Hope and his entire being so I tried avoiding using him, but I kept losing so I used him, and he was as useless as ever... I Hate Hope.
Anyway as to what i'm using:
Lightning is mandatory, Fang and Vanille. That's who i'm finding most useful as of right now. (The paradigms are listed as LightningFangVanille)
I start of with a RavComMed (all with Faith, Bravery, Vigilance, Veil, Protect, Shell and Haste at the start thanks to the aerosols) to stagger and destroy each of the four armour pieces. Then as i'm attacking the head, I never seem to stagger it cause I need to change to MedSenMed to heal and it's chain resets while doing that. Even if it's going down slowly thanks to Commando's. At around this time, when i'm switching between healing and doing little damage, my buffs simultaneously dissappear and then it does this move that kills my team one hit. I haven't bothered summoning Odin cause I tried that at one point and I did less damage than i normally would have, plus it resets his chain when it finishes.
In another scenario where I use Lightning Sazh and Hope, I last a little longer with a similar strategy, except when the buffs dissappear I use them to Re-Buff, but then after that, it uses it's mega attack repeatedly and I don't have enough time to heal while buffing, so I either heal and have too much damage done to live, or buff up and don't have enough health to survive. I'm really in a pickle.
As for my Crystarium, It's pretty good, with everyone roughly 3 away from completion in each of the stat attributes in each class and almost every ability.
Does anyone have any help? or is grinding my way to completing the crystariun my only option? _________________

^ When it starts charging up that move, hit him as much as you can. Eventually he will stagger and the move will do incredibly less damage. _________________

Yeah, but I didn't want to read anything else in the thread for fear of being spoiled. Although that reason has probably also been given 20 times... haha _________________

I think I used maybe 20 potions in the game and every single one in the first 10 hours. You really don't need potions at all. _________________ Shin J Leon.
