PS3 3.30 System Software Update

Hi everyone, in our continued effort to provide the best, most comprehensive entertainment experience possible, we’ll be adding a few new features to PlayStation 3 (PS3) via the latest system software update, which is a mandatory update and will be available shortly. Most notably, you’ll see some new sorting options within Trophies that make it easier to claim bragging rights among your friends on PlayStation Network.

* Trophy enhancements –- Now you can more easily sort trophies in the [Trophy Collection] and [Comparing Trophy] sections. Sorting can be done with [Trophy Collection] in the [Game Category] and also when comparing trophies with your friends in the [Friend Category]
o Trophy Folder (Title List) can be sorted by game name/ by title according to the date in which you earned your last trophy (ascending/descending)
o Add-on list (Group list) can be sorted by original/the date in which you earned your last trophy (ascending/descending)
o Trophy list can be sorted by original/trophy name/grade/date of obtaining the trophy (ascending/descending)

In addition, this update preps the PS3 system for some upcoming new features, including 3D stereoscopic gaming, which is coming soon to PS3, in time for the launch of Sony’s 3D BRAVIA TVs.

What they really need to do, and maybe they do and I'm just blind, is add a sort option to the PSN store. So I can look for JUST original downloadable games and not have to wade through DLC and demos. As a new user I'm sure I've missed out on some original PSN games this way.

They need to develop a name for such titles much like Xbox has Arcade games, Wii has Wiiware. Say PSN Originals or something.

But will it speed up trophies? Comparing to friends is ridiculously slow, so slow that I very rarely bother to compare.

This is also the update which gets rid of the "Other OS" feature, a special message comes up before the update starts installing.

Hmm, is it a PSN issue? I've only did 3 updates and download seems to be quick. This latest one took me just around about 2mins to download but I guess I am downloading it from JPN PSN since my account is there.

The install definitely takes longer. It only took about 10-15 mins total for me to update yesterday, which is reasonable.

I'm really hoping it's a case of us getting the Video Store soon. We have waited far too long for this. I'll probably make good us of the store and buy some movies if they are reasonably priced...

I wish theyd remove the ABC TV tab. Or at least give me an option to remove it.

Waste of space, especially for those who didnt have that icon because they dont have playtv.

I hope they don't remove ABC iView from the XMB, it is a great feature. I'm often not home for TV, so being able to legally stream the most recent episodes of shows like The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, The IT Crowd, Hungry Beast and Important Things With Demetri Martin for free to my PS3 is great. I hope they get more Aussie channels up for streaming soon.

They need an SBS version of iView.
