Splinter Cell: Conviction will be a two-player co-op action game with a single versus mode, against A.I., which is also limited to two people. In other words, there's no need for dedicated servers, so don't get your night vision goggles in a twist.
Anyhow, word about no dedicated server support comes from the following publisher-distributed developer Q&A:
Will there be a dedicated server for Splinter PC?
No, there is no dedicated server mode.
Splinter Cell ConvictionHow long will a match in the MP mode “Face Off” last?
The mode is played in a series of rounds. The win criteria is “First to 3 victories”. So a match can go up to 5 rounds at most. Players can set up how long a round lasts, or how many points are needed to determine a win. So essentially, it’s up to the players to decide on whether they want to play a series of short rounds or a series of long rounds.
How does the matchmaking work exactly?
The matchmaking system attempts to put two players together that are looking for the same type of match based on the selected Map, Difficulty, Language and Ping. If no good matches are found, the player can create a match and wait for someone to connect. Players can also create private matches. Additionally, in the event where we don’t find an exact match to your preferences, we gradually and automatically start widening the search parameters until we find the closest best match to what you were looking for. There are no match listings in Conviction, you are matched with the best possible person out there.
Will there be a lobby?
Yes, of course there’s a game lobby J From the lobby, players can negotiate match settings. You can also change the game mode, map and difficulty without having to exit the lobby. So for example, if you’re playing Co-op Story and decide to change for Face-Off, you can do so without destroying your current session. This keeps you connected with your buddy.
How can users prove they won a match?
Besides the in-game statistics for Deniable Ops modes, we’ll also have web-based leaderboards where you can compare your stats against anyone else.
Will there be a replay function?
No replays in Conviction.
Will there be a spectator mode?
No.

Yep, saw the news as well about the now final release date after numerous delays, heard it meant to come out back in 2007 ??
Well, do hope all the delays means a polished game. But a really strange way of Ubisoft when announcing the date. A stone...

In this trailer it says you can get Infiltration mode through Uplay, so guess you don't need to get the collectors to get it.

Just played through the demo a couple of times. If anyone had any doubts as to how good this will be put them aside as this will be outstanding full stop. Graphics are absolutely top notch with the dynamic hud being better then i imagined. There are multiple ways to tackle each situation which i love. First time i went through i went in all guns blazing, sam even comments "sometimes you have to get things done the hard way" next time i took my time using stealth properly. Environmental kills, death from above human shields interrogation, tagging your targets as all implemented flawlessly. With the multi player and co-op missions this game is definitely worth the wait for splinter cell fans. They can lock in my pre-order. _________________

Hitman has nothing on splintercell in my opinion, especially conviction.

Apparently there will be no pc demo.

I have the demo on lockdown. I can't wait for next week.
I just hope to god that JB don't update their list before then. I'm planning to get rid of these three 360 games and then say farewell to a once amazing offer. _________________

HAHAHAHA - same mate.
I traded in a few older games to get battlefield, I got a heap i'm willing to part with, however I've got a EB pre-order for limited edition, but only $10 or something on it, should i get a refund and use JB free trade deal for standard edition, or is limited edition really worth getting?

I know this comment was a bit old, but I have to comment:
Hitman and Splinter Cell are very different games. Hitman is about problem solving in a broad sense. "How do I arrange the death of this target?" The broad solutions generally get you through without needing fiddly management of the minor details. Hitman works on logic trains like, "Find a disguise. Hide behind this object. Garrote him when he's alone."
Splinter Cell is more micro. The problem is always the same, but is from moment to moment, "How do I get past this guy without alerting anyone?" The solutions are, "Use sticky camera to create noise distraction, then sneak across lit area to vault wall and hang off balcony. Re-enter at deep shadow, EMP the light, and pick the lock of the door before escaping."
The Hitman series is excellent. I really love how non-linear and open ended it is. Splinter Cell is much more linear and closed, but it's such a delicious test of skill and control that it's still fun. They're both great games with loosely similar premises but much different executions, great in their own way.

Another review Game Informer: 9/10
http://www.vgarabia.com/2010/04/10/splinter-cell-conviction-got-a-great-score-from-game-informer/
Looks like it's on the way to become another high scored game among the many in 2010 so far.
After attending a Ubisoft pre-launch event in Sydney this Wednesday, I feel the game is indeed looking quite good (graphics, gameplay, polish, production value, presentation etc). Quite like the now relatively lengthy in-game cut scenes (within a mission instead of before a mission starts as in the past) and the animations of characters are just awesome (Alpha Protocol's animation is terrible in comparison). Though the game now try to accommodate action fans instead of pure stealth, still I would say you will have an easier life if you choose to go stealth, as the weapons you carry are still no match to the enemies and of course outnumbered as well. 2-player Co-op is ok, but seems the frame rate drop a bit when there are too many actions going on. If there is one thing I don't like, it's those projector style missions objectives shown on the wall/building, sure it makes easier for new players but it's just not realistic/stupid looking... same goes for the last known position display.
Spoiler: Anna is a mole (rescues Sam when he's been captured and being interrogated) and has been lying to Fisher about his daughter, who according to her is not dead but kidnapped?

For the PC version being delayed, it is a pity. But even worse is the always-on internet DRM. I guess this one is going to be like Assassin Creed 2, the console version is the better choice. They don't even release a PC demo.
Just saw in the news that the limited edition got a US$10 price reduction due to defective USB drives in some (not all) packages. Not sure if it applies in Australia or not.

Also I got an email from EB answering my question earlier saying if you do a pricematch, you can only get the game but not the bonus preorder items. So either pricematch then game only, or full price and get all items (games+bonuses) as usual.

T____T
Word is that the game's single player is 4-5 hours..... I couldn't really care less about the online mulitplayer for this sort of game. I hope that those 4-5 hours will be worth it then _________________
