Holy s**t, that movie was awesome.

I love the music they chose for Hit-Girl's intro, The Dickies - Banana Splits. icon_lol.gif

If anyone wanted to hear that again...

I know I'm gonna see this movie a 2nd time.

Yeah I watched it and of course loved it. The only thing that hindered it for me was the fact that I had seen about 80% of the good parts in the various trailers and youtube clips.

I thought the ending was a bit stupid as well, felt a bit out of place. I don't know how the comic ends, is someone able to tell me?

Will definetly be getting the Special Edition DVD, $10 says that the special edition at JB Hifi will be 4 different "exclusive" covers, each displaying the 4 main characters faces on each cover.

Hit Girl cover, you know it makes sense.

As for the comic ending, I tried to be brief while also being informative so i included a synopsis of sorts;

Kick Ass #8 wrote:

Red Mist: Undercover bad guy, sequel villain
Big Daddy: Deceased
Kick Ass: probably unable to have kids
Hit Girl: "Retired"

After Red Mist is revealed as a dastardly fiend, Kick Ass gets his balls electrocuted (ouch) by the double cross and sings like a canary to the gangsters who promptly are informed by Big Daddy that it was all an elaborate plot to give Hit Girl the enemy to fight so they kill him. Yes, they were comic fans who tagged along as well, EEGADS MAN! After being rescued by Hit Girl, Kick Ass and Hit Girl then lay the goddamn law down to the gangsters and Red Mist whom Kick beats the hell up with a few planks of wood. They get the drop on Hit Girl before KA shows up with a gun and shoots the main dude in the balls (ouch) and while the text went;

Gangster #1: Don't worry he doesn't have the balls to shoot.
*Kick Ass shoots G1 in the balls*
G1: He shot me in the tunk!
*Hit girl with meat cleaver*: Tunk you asshole!

...and she then sticks a meat cleaver in his head before wasting the rest of the baddies with some straight shootin Tex.

Epilogue starts Hit Girl trying to live a normal life, Kick outing himself as not gay and getting roasted by the love interest, and with Red Mist blogging that he's going to mess shit up something shocking. Oh and this happened before that Armenian jumped too so it's all woah man, past tense!

I think as much as the movie version is a little more Hollywood, it worked well.

Really enjoyed it. The action sequences are great, the characters are fun, the dialogue is as good as the comic. Yes, they changed a few things, but like I said, it all came together rather nicely.

And it isn't as violent as people make it out to be, certainly not in the same vein as Sin City or Kill Bill, it doesn't really go overboard with it.

Saw this a few hours ago, thoroughly enjoyable. Some very witty dialogue and the action sequences were great. And when she dropped the c-bomb....priceless.

Seemed kind of boring apart from the action scenes and when Hit Girl wasn't swearing at everything. Alot of it just seemed whiny and unnecessary/clichéd. 5/10

Just saw it today and I was rather impressed as it generally only took small liberties with the comic and the acting wasn't all that bad as to what you generally expect with "superhero" movies, I mean, even Nicholas Cage with a mustache was met with applause when he transformed it into a beard!

Cagey, you have redeemed your poor acting quality with just this effort of stuck on hair!

Only gripe I had with it was that outside of a single moment, the Red Mist character was pretty goddamn craptastic, the rest were pretty spot on.

I was discussing this with my brother earlier this evening, and he summed up any of my criticism in this movie with a few words: that, in the end, the comic "...was just a lot more believable" thanthe movie turned out.

Anyone else share this sentiment?

The ending sequences, I do enjoy the comic "ending" much more than I did the movie ending but at the same time I understand why the movie had such an ending because really, it needed a good one as all movies do, and in order to have a good one, something drastic needed to be undertaken.

The comic was more believable mainly because it was darker, the opening sequence in the book compared to the movie sum that up. It isn't a gripe of the movie, I thought they did a great job, but they did tone it down compared to the source material.

A part of me is really keen to see it as I've heard it describe as "the Zombieland of comic book movies", but I every trailer, screenshot, or any footage in general where I see Hit Girl makes me cringe.

Have to wonder how much of the Comics story was available to the screenwriters. I never followed the comics, but from what i understand a near production draft of the script was done 2 years ago. And while writers often say they have the whole story planned out from the beginning, its often a very rough idea that changes by the time it ends.

I found it pretty entertaining as a whole, but agree it came apart a little at the end. I'll be interested in seeing the Extended cut when it comes out on DVD, and any follow up movies that comes out.

If I recall correctly, it was announced by the 2nd or 3rd issue that it had just been optioned as a movie. Presumably, Millar had this story planned out pretty well, it ain't LOST...

Man just watched it again for the 2nd time (family wanted to watch it).

I just love the scene with Big Daddy and the music from 28 days later (warehouse where he fucks shit up if your still clueless). It was pretty funny when Hit girl goes to save Kick ass and big daddy I just thought "FUCK YEAH!!!" in my mind with a little fist pump, then I heard the same thing said somewhat loudly 2 rows down in front. C'mon, you all thought it too icon_smile.gif.

Back to the 28 Days later theme, I noticed that its actually a recurring theme in the movie for anything gloomy-like, which makes me wonder was the composer of 28 days later composing for Kick - Ass? I'm thinking yes, because composers always do that sort of thing and bring back a little signature theme of them. James Horner , composer for Avatar is notorious of that stuff, there is a little 4 note "Danger" motif he always uses, its in Enemy at the Gates, Balto, everything he has done he always uses that in "Gloomy-like" situations.

Just food for thought. icon_smile.gif

I looked it up out of curiosity, and you're right. John Murphy co-composed the score, and also scored 28 Days AND 28 Weeks Later. One of the other composers was Ilan Eshkeri, who worked with Matthew Vaughn on the Stardust and Layer Cake soundtracks.

Saw this yesterday, at Victoria Gardens (hah.)

Amused to see some girl that was on Summer Heights High working there, but following on, great movie.

How does the movie differ from the comic though, curious?

Re-watched with another friend of mine, and he hated it, I wouldve sworn before-hand that he was going to like it. He said it was unfunny/stupid. That's just like opinion man.
