I've been playing quite a bit of 12 lately, I kind of gave it the shrug to early, the game plays very well online now. Any of you guys wanna few games just shoot me a msg, so much fun playing without the 2 sec lag.

I been playing vs a T6 buddy and it runs perfect online, even when he gets capped from downloading to much anime.

The online updates they have done are really good, I'm so pumped for 13 right now, but its going to be to long away :'(

US, March 25, 2010 - SNK Playmore announced a few weeks back that it was making a new King of Fighters game. Today, we got first details on King of Fighters XIII via a public premier event held in Tokyo electronics capital Akihabara.

"KOF-ism" is the key word for KOF XIII, director Masaaki Kukino revealed at the event. He announced that the game's story line will form a finale for the Ash chapter of the KOF series, but did not provide details.

Three "new" characters were announced for the game. Mai Shiranui, Yuri Sakazaki and King will all be returning to duty in KOFXIII, all with new moves and, from what we hear, lots of shake.

Joining the characters, Kukino announced new stages, including a jungle, a sumo arena, and a bus terminal.

New systems for KOFXIII include EX moves, which convert each characters' super moves into more powerful versions at the expense of your power gauge. The new Drive Cancel opens up new combo possibilities, allowing you to connect from one super to another. Also new for the game is Hyper Drive Mode, which gives you unlimited use of Drive Cancels for a while once you've maxed out your Hyper Drive Gauge.

KOFXIII will hit Japanese arcades this summer, but a location test is all set to kick off this week at Akihabara's Hey arcade.

WAIT, that's not all. If you go to site Dengeki, you can clearly see the default view setting is zoomed out, making the characters not pixelated. Seems like the image filter is on by default as well.




Three characters and three stages are fine, if they pad the game out with a great story, fix the online mode and fill it with extras.

While I am now excited for this, it makes me think why they didn't just do all of these things to begin with, rather than somewhat ruining the series and crushing my future hopes icon_cry.gif

35 characters in the game. A good chunk haven't been annouced yet.

I have to say, the default zoomed out look will REALLY make the game loo like a next-gen 2D fighter. SOOOO glad they are doing this. The game looks like run a few clicks faster as well.

If the rumours were true and they effectively stopped XII mid way to start on XIII (which makes sense looking at the end product) then we could be in for a treat. It was a nasty learning curve for them from XII (which was a good core game) so I think they should have what they need to make this one great.

Pray to god they use GGPO. It's made for games like this.

First box is ticked (zoomed out). Now, you better add intro/rival animations and multiple endings SNK...that's my 2nd tick box.

But...Joe still looks like a freak!

Dang, can Mai be wearing any less? Yuri looks like a little kid in that screenshot, haha. Also, it looks like the story is continuing since its showing Rose and Those From the Past who are controlling her.

The drive cancel system looks interesting. Going by the videos, XIII seems like it plays a lot like 2002 UM which awesome. Even the art style used for the dialogue has an old school flavor to it. It reminds me so much of 2002. I also noticed some other changes from XII:
- Critical Counter is gone
- Knockback counter is no longer free and cost 1 bar to use

As for some more changes I want to see, I hope throws revert back to something more to how it was before instead of some Capcom-style throw which was done poorly.


Any guesses as to who's in those empty slots? My guesses are:
Iori Team: Vice
Kyokugenryu Team: Takuma

Ten teams is pretty decent(Ash looks like hes a single entry), but I hope the console version has even more characters. I hope the K' Team and Agent Team both make it to the consoles. I'm thinking that entire blank team will be filled with new characters or at least one new character.


Edit: No rival intros or taunts before the match. Hopefully that changes.

Some other things I noticed:

- Super bars have reverted back to traditional KOF-style meaning that characters have access to three bars at the start and the max amount increases each time a team member is defeated.
- EX and desperation moves use one bar, hyper desperation moves use two.

Ha ha, it looks like they've taken a LOT of people's issues with the game onboard. If you watch the videos you can see the characters go OVER the health bars now. in KOF XII, the health bars always stayed on top.

Damm....Snk is screwing the game big time. Those gameplay videos dont seem right. So very disappointed.They would make more money just by releasing KOF 94,95,96,97,98 Hd editions.Classic gameplay just revamp the graphics.

What are you talking about? Its looking WAY better. The counter system is gone (which was OK but a bit dumb) and EX moves will add another layer to the game.

It's shaping up pretty nicely I think.

I hope too.. it turns out ass kicker. But what i saw I didnt like it. I want to change my opnion, hopefully I will once more videos and gameplay is released.

Well, I'm the same I guess but I really like the look of it so far. The zoomed out view will make the game look incredible instead of messy, the speed of the game is up a few notches.

This is their last KOF chance really after the disaster that was XII, so we HAVE to believe that they will nail it.

KOF XIII Character roster(one cool thing about this is that it shows the characters in animation as they will probably appear in the game) revealed. There also details about storyline, most of the character roster, move sets and even videos.

I live it on Shinhawk to do the translation.Taa

I didnt like character design.still disappointed.

Translation? It's in plain Japanese. icon_smile.gif

There's not really that much to translate, martial arts style, birthdate, blood type, etc, etc.

The only thing you need to know is this スリーサイズ(surisaizu - translates to three size - which is the bust waist and hips, but more importantly the bust!! icon_smile.gif

Bust sizes:
Mature - 88
Athena - 83
Leona - 84
Yuri - 85
Mai - 87
King - 86
Elisabeth - 90 <- THE WINNER!

Despite artwork Elisabeth is the most stacked, haha. I know Vice, Shermie, and Angel are quite up there too. I'm glad there are team-specific music tracks now. I wonder who is going to be the third person in the Kim team. I'm more than certain Vice is the 3rd member of the Yagami team. I also wonder how they'll explain the return of those characters when Iori apparently killed both of them.

After going back to playing 2002UM, I really can't stand Leona's old school outfit. I like her new one much better.

There's a lot of kanji I don't know in the story portion so me translating that might take a while.
