My hair grows insanely quickly also. I made this my advantage and grew a beard. Now all i do is trim it, keep it neat every few weeks and turn up to work happily as a respectable bearded fellow.

I use a Gilette bladed shaver, without any shaving cream (i find it gets in the way of what i am doing). If i feel like it i'll shave every 2 - 3 days. Usually will do it once a week, if i'm lazy i'll let it grow and shave once a month - sometimes every 2 - 3 months.
I had facial hair fairly early on, started getting ribbed about it when i was in grade 5 and again in grade 6. I didn't start shaving until the end of year 7. Because of how infrequent it would grow, i wouldn't have to shave for a few months before it got to dangerous hairy levels.
I grew a fairly good goatee when i was in year 11 through to mid year of year 12. Shaved it off for a funeral, but i've never been able to grow it as thick + awesome since then.
My regrowth isn't that bad, it grows back fastest on and around my chin, before it starts showing up on the sides of my face.

Man, this thread makes me sad. I can never grow an epic beard. I generally only have to shave once every few weeks. I don't grow 'stubble', it's mainly just peach fuzz. True story: I still use the same razor and shaving cream that my Sister gave me for my fourteen birthday. Maybe that's why I can't grow hair...it's killed everything off.

I'm sorry, but I can't be doing with all these metro moisturisers and exfoliation stuff.
I'm a bloke, if it cuts, that's what the real stinging like a bastard aftershave is for _________________

I have never shaven before, I don't really need to. Guessing when I eventually have to it won't be very often.

I have never gotten ingrown hairs on my face. I guess my face is just too awesome.
I tend to shave after showering, or during if I can't be arsed using shaving cream and I don't have a mane. Use aftershave every time, but that's just because I have it (grandparents, without fail, buy me a shaving pack every christmas and birthday, the awesome part is that they last me six months so I never have to buy my own shaving products, except for razors).
As an aside, people are complaining that electric razors are expensive... 21 ******* dollars for four razor blades, that lose their blue strip thingy after a half dozen uses. Bloody rip off, I'd rather learn how to use a kitchen knife.

I always thought that the fairer sex weren't, generally, so fond of the face fuzz. Have I accumulated false info, or are you an exception to the norm? _________________

I may be an exception. I adore facial hair (when done well) and also chest hair. I like my men to be men, so to speak.
Having said that, I find that women are fine with men who have hair whereas girls don't like it.
I use the term "girl" in a derogatory manner. They need to grow the hell up. This may get me in trouble.

Ha! Go for it. "Be the trouble you want to see in the World"!
I have a white chest hair. I call him 'token'. I'd like to think that he is the scout for a 'whitey' raiding party, and by the end of this year I'll be as white-haired as an octogenarian. That'd be hilarious!
Back to the topic at hand - How could electric shavers be so much slower than a razor? Perhaps it's just my thick hair, but I find using a razor to be slow work, as it so quickly gets clogged and drags. Whereas my beard trimmer dealy zips over everything fairly quickly - it just doesn't cut quite as close as I'd like.

i guess it depends how close a shave you prefer.
when i shave, i prefer it close, so it's blades for me. electric shavers just feel like they've only done a half-arsed job.
but when i had to go baldy-face to kick off Movember, my razors didn't make a dent in them hairs, so i had to use clippers, then trimmers, then the razors.
also: Sorbelene > shaving cream imo. i find it also increases the blade life as well. i'm guessing that's because it's a petrochemical based .. gloop, so protects the blades from rusting that little bit longer. _________________

Sorry, I'm going to have to join you in the exception female group.
I find hair attractive to an extent.
No hair it's like going out with a little boy (female pedo)
Too much and it's like dating a gorilla
Needs to be a balance.
For example:
facial hair is fine....hairy back not so fine.

By the power vested in me through impromptu witticisms I now pronounce you woman and protein filament. You may now prune the follicle to desired specifications.

went to the self titled shaver shop at watergardens yesterday. Not bad, better having a decently knowledgable person to talk to than when it's just like heres a product buy it or not in dept stores and supermarkets.
anyway, their recommendations were for electric in general, considered blades to be usually more problematic and likely to cause skin irritations.
also for replacing the blade set on it if yours is several years old like mine which is a lot of money though, thus making new stuff considerable in comparison. seemed a bit cheaper than i'd seen elsewhere on their top model stuff, though i'll have to check to be sure.
i bought a good blade and cream to try out, for $20 i just wanna see what a blade shave is like anyway. _________________

So I'm guessing your voice hasn't cracked and balls haven't dropped off yet? And you're what, 16-17??? Man, that rings some major bells... _________________

I never was able to get a clean cut with an electrical shaver. If I used it every morning, I'd get major razor burn. It wouldn't really work when you were lubricated with oil or moisturiser, so do you do it bone dry. But your pores are closed, so it's like rubbing steel with rubber. Friction mother fucking central.
So here's what you do:
1. Take a hot shower, or at least put a hot facer washer on. Open them pores up. This is pretty common sense but just do it for christ's sake.
2. Use a bit of shaving oil - yes oil - and lather up. It prepares the skin and all that jazz.
3. Get a shaving cream brush, they're really inexpensive. Not only do you look like a total badass putting on the cream, it feels awesome.
4. Shave. Take your time, go with the grain of the hair. Some parts of my face have different grains, so just be aware of what way you're going. If I don't get a particularly clean cut, I'll go over it backwards to clean up the tiny bits.
5. Use moisturising cream and rub it in nicely. This is what prevents razor burn, and feels super smooth.
I've been using a Mach3 but am looking to get an old school safety razor, and a bunch of replaceable blades. It's surprisingly not that expensive, and in the long run is cheaper than buying Mach3 blades.
As for the rest of the discussion, I'm so glad Tania mentioned that hair on men is fine with women, not so much with the girls. This couldn't be truer, and I speak from personal experience. Although, chest and stomach hair is OK, back and shoulder hair is pretty unsexy. Get a wax lads.
This is all from uncle Mitch.
