Carmageddon... I remember it from my younger years indeed.
I played it again recently and thought to myself "This definitely wasn't right for me to play back then". Go figure.
EDIT: And like the writer of the article, I forgot to mention Mortal Kombat being a game that caused a stir indeed. Bowling for Columbine is all I need to say I think. _________________

Wow, how did you manage to forget Mortal Kombat in an article about video games that caused controversy!?
(Not attacking you BTW, it's actually a very good article. Gotta love the Japanese and their panties. ) _________________

Perhaps not R18+ borderline, but speaking of controversy: Mass Effect on the seXBOX, amirite?
Fox News at its best educating American families about the evils of gaming. _________________

Definitely agree with the Bully thing being a storm in a teacup. I don't think a game like that would get many sales if it actually did focus on making the player bully other school kids.
And V-Tech Rampage? What was the guy thinking when he made that? Ridiculous.

I still don't know how any censorship board could rate Dead Space anything less than 18+.

But I once saw a copy of Scarface and it came WITH the movie.
That Dragoball one is ridiculous and I didn't even know about it as I have the one with the PG rating. The game gets changed from PG to M because it constains stuff that is in the show which on the newer DVD'S (before the game) is PG itself. So on a show it only warrants a PG but on a game it warrant's an M. _________________ Welcome to the internet. Silent Hill was a great game, but I thought there were "children" monsters that noticed you when you had your flashlight on? _________________

I bought the special ed of Evil Dead: Hail to the King on PSX that came with the R18+ first film. No one seemed to mind. I was also only 15. _________________ My play-aisa affiliation link!

I don't understand the logic of bringing up Special Forces, and V-Tech when they were never submitted for classification or placed in any kind of position to make it to retail? There are plenty of homebrew / indy titles that you could fill up a controversy/outrage article with, but it's kind of irrelevant when speaking of ratings issues. _________________

Games that spark controversy; due to either bad taste (see Carmageddon) or media sensationalism (see Bully). How about this everyone, let people make their own choices and parents actually take some responsibility. Western society is becoming too far gone now with this 'blame someone/something else' attitude.

There is also Fallout 3 and the whole 'real life drugs' thing. Funny thing is though, even with the changed names, you can still work out which drug they are meant to be by the effects they have on the Vault Dweller. _________________
