From Major Nelsons website.

that's approx $52 AUD. think I will wait until this is a Deal of the week.

Is this expansion really going to be of the same value as half of the original game?

Major problem is that there is no real way to find this on the cheap. DLC kinda forces you into a price. Don't think there are any deals on MS points anywhere at the moment...

Yeah exactly, and then the GOTY edition will come out, with all bundled DLC. Sort of like oblivion.

Since so many games are taking this approach, it seems better in the long run, for example i bought both ME2 and borderlands on release and traded them back in to recieve my money, but give it a year and there will be as i mentioned previously a GOTY edition with all included dlc and with time the price will only drop.

Yeah good point. But by the time I wait for GOTY or a disc DLC, I will be way past DAO and won't want to pick it back up.
I'm not overly confident it will be on disc at any stage either.

I only paid $80 for the original game so $50 for an expansion seems a bit much... I doubt it will be worth that price, I seriously so. But if it gets amazing reviews and is a good length I *might* get it.

Do have a gig size estimate?

The Expansion offers a whole new set of party members that you can start with if you don't want to import your current party. Also I heard the expansion is around 30 hours long.

I think its worth the price.

The main game didn't even take me 30 hours, it took me 24.... and they said it was "hundreds of hours long".

And no I didn't skip all the sidequests.

It's only frustrating though if you continually die over and over, and being too easy makes it boring as you hardly even have to focus on the game to play.

I like not having to focus on it. I'm here to relax >_>

I play games for the story, thats why I hate multiplayer and love Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy, etc.

I've seen it for pre-order on disc for under $40. Thats not too steep, IMO. Lost and the Damned was about that price in alot of places for the "boxed" copy when it came out and it still sold well, didn't it?

This will obviously have a much more focused target market though. Those who enjoyed Dargon Age and finished it would probably come back for more.

JB HiFi and EBgames are listing it too. Hopefully there is a disc inside and not a redeemable code.

While I enjoyed Dragon Age, I just don't see the appeal of getting this (if it is download only) on my 20 gig hard drive.

I think I should have gotten it for PC rather than 360... Something about the console version of DA:O just doesn't sit right with me.

That, and the end boss fight left a bitter taste in my mouth >.>.

I got the disc version today, just booted it up - it runs off its own disc and not the main games. It is in fact stand alone icon_surprised.gif

For the record, nobody in their right mind should buy the DLC version, JB is selling this for $42 as of Thursday and 3200 points equates to over $60 wth.

Well I beat this this morning. 15 hours on casual.

I did most, but not all sidequests.

Considering the full game that was twice or more of the price took me 24 hoiurs, I'd say that's pretty good.

The story was a bit eeh but there were some cool new mechanics like upgrading your town, though they are delivered rather poorly. Fetch this. Fetch THIS. Now fetch THIIIIIIS. Now pay me all your money. Now fetch this. Hey look I upgraded your walls.

There are a number of new skills and abilities but they do not always work. Literally, I'd say the chance of some of the new skills actually working when you use them is less than 50%... There are other glitches too, such as the whole screen going black in conversations sometimes.

Overall, a bit dodgy, but I *did* actually enjoy it. I think it was really enjoyable overall. It's more of a good thing really, and theres many new party members and a few tough choices with them and other things in the game that really made me stop and think even more than the first game.

Anyways, I'm saying if you like Dragon Age, get this. The end icon_biggrin.gif

Oh yeah, and its ending also indicates what Dragon Age 2 WON'T be about.

Length wise it's actually half that, if not less. I've already commented on this game in another thread, but don't expect something up to Origins quality.
