PAL Territories to Receive Free Goodies with Yakuza 3

Included with the title at a regular price are: four pieces of DLC (Costumes, free in Japan), an interactive “beginner’s guide” detailing the history of the characters and their relationships, and a 31-track soundtrack. This could be considered a “special edition” but in PAL territories it will be the only edition available for consumers thus making it the standard release.

SEGA seems to be showing fans the love which is nice – too bad they didn’t include an alternative slip cover to hide the awful cover art they decided to use. I wonder if PS3 gamers will champion this exclusive title.

Shenmue of course.

Like I said in another post somewhere on this site, there is no one area that is that great. The fighting is a bit sloppy, the animations are not of 'next-gen' standard, the graphics (while good) aren't great... but... the overall game is amazing.

The pacing is brilliant, the story is very good, the likeness of Japan is spot on, the Japanese voice acting is very expressive and the fighting might not be perfect but it is fun. So are the mini games.

Shenmue is my favourite series just about so anything similar will rate high for me.

I guess you can sort of compare it to GTA. GTA never had very good hand to hand combat gameplay and some average animations to go with it, but the sheer size of the game and overall quality added up to something special.

GTA without the cars I guess.

The tentative date listed on PALGN is March 11th. So in other words, hopefully March 11th but very likely sometime in March or perhaps April.

The demo is going to be up on our PS store within...

probably the next hour or two. Considering I haven't had any Yakuza experience before (I know, what the fuck is wrong with me?), I'll be downloading it.

It's out now. I know nothing about this game, but I might download it in a few days, if I have any quota left after all this downloading.

Gave the demo a whirl earlier. I like it. The combat is pretty cool, especially when you get a string of combos happening. I got my ass kicked in the first mini boss battle, but that's because I had no idea what I was doing. Read the controls properly, and flattened the guy the next time through.

Didn't bother with any mini games, had a look around in the supermarket... hah bought some food. Certain drinks and stuff give you "heat" which helps when fighting.

Overall, I enjoyed most of the things the demo had to offer... still not sure about the full game though. If I do buy it, it probably won't be straight away.

Yeah Gregsy, I felt the same.

I rushed into the fighting without trying to understand, and failed. The next time I made an effort and won easily.

I thought it was weird with the old school lack of spoken dialogue during some scenes with nothing but a few text boxes on screen lol.

Graphically it looks pretty good too. For an open world game, I was quite surprised.

Lack of hostess bar that the japanese demo had saddens me.

Anyway, does anyone know where the 2nd accessible arcade is? The 1st mail message says 2 arcades and one karaoke bar, but i can only find 1 of the arcades (the Club Sega arcade)

I never played Yakuza 1 or 2, but from what I've played in the Yakuza 3 demo, it looks like alot of fun icon_biggrin.gif.

The revelations were really interesting for me, because I haven't seen any games that let you learn new moves/skills just from simple encounters.

hey all where is everyone getting yakuza 3 from? any good deals?

EDIT: i might just get the play-asia version - can probably get it for $63 with a voucher. thats a $26 difference to JB hifi who have got it for $89.

FFXIII and Yakuza 3 for a combined $120 - id be happy with that, even if i dont get all the extra stuff with the australian yakuza 3 version.

do you think I would be able to download yakuza 3 DLC in the future if i got the asian version - or would i have to log into the asian store and buy it there somehow?

when the sega guy made the comment it sounded as though he would consider not cutting content for 'future releases'. at least that was my take on it.

it seemed they made a mistake cutting content and now its probably too hard for them to put it back.

i wonder what it would take in terms of programming to put the hostess bar back in there. would there just be a few lines of code to unlock that content assuming its still on the disk.. or do you think they closed it off for good, or they completely took out the content and dont have the budget to put it back in.

For those PS3 owners with a JPN PSN account. The Yakuza 4 demo is available to download as we speak.

I just got the game but I'm having trouble with the dlc code where it's just telling me that it's either invalid or expired.

Do I need to wait for the PSN store to be updated before the code works like with the Heavy Rain soundtrack?

Cheers

saw this at EB for $99 but I had other games on my mind. What a way to blow the games chance sega by releasing it at the same time as FFXIII.

Honestly I own both and Yakuza 3 is actually the superior game. Yakuza 3 aint even a full blown RPG and yet manages to put in about 20-25 hours worth of side missions, let alone the plethora of mini games that it provides. FFXIII although admittedly gorgeous, is an inferior game in every other possible way to Yakuza 3 (and yes, i own the PS3 version of FFXIII and I'm a MASSIVE FF fan from way back).

Yakuza 3 PSM3 Review 9/10 (hahahaha it actually outscored FFXIII, let the FF fanboys bashing begin)

With scores like this, maybe Yakuza 3 might stand a chance in the sales department over the next month
