I like my fighting games, but this had wanna be a massive step up from last years release. I thought that was one of the most dissapointing games of '09. _________________

I realllly hope this is good, they need to take a page out of SF4, they need to develop it longer, test it 1000x more than the past game (console port anyways) and ensure that Iori's moves are not changed again! _________________ XBL - myzz

Well, it was always coming. Rumours where they stopped development of KOFXII mid way through to start work on this.
I don't know what to think about it, they games needs a lot of work. They got so much of it wrong in XII.
XII was a solid game and had a great engine but had no extras.
I hope they -
1) Fix the online component, make it simplier. It really sucks.
2) Have the zoomed out as the default so the characters aren't pixelated. Makes the game look a LOT nicer.
3) A lot more stages, bring back old remix tunes.
4) Bring back the rival intros, include mutlple start/winning poses (XII had none).
5) Add a good story and do somethign alal Blazblue (intros/endings in cool still frames with voice). _________________ Shin J Leon.

I could not agree more. It just looks awful when you sit close to the TV. Blazblue had the right idea by not emphasising the rough/pixelated characters.

I just can't get my head around how the developers though the game looked 'great'. The filter does help a bit, but by default, the characters look like they are from 1994 KOF 1.
Maybe it was a slave labour camp where they had tiny monitors to develop on? _________________ Shin J Leon.

The stages didn't look that good for me, playing it on a sony bravia the backgrounds were to dark in sections, i think it was the china stage, even after playing with the brightness it still looks pretty average.
A friend at work said that the KOF community are assuming that they will rip off SF4, I'm unsure how but i kind of hope so in a way lol.
I saw an arcade game on youtube a few months back and the graphics looked really good, maybe it was a bad port to consoles?
I haven't seen it in the arcade first hand though. Also haven't spent a great deal playing it though, only those few games we had Leon and i played and maybe 1 or 2 with others on live.
I hope the next game is good, KOF is such a great franchise, the memories of all the old games i loved growing up bundled into 1 such as fatal fury, art of fighting etc.
Deep down inside i wish they would make a Capcom vs SNK 3 on the SSF4 engine. _________________ XBL - myzz

Well I hope KOF 13 is a build on KOF 12. 12 is fine, they just need to fix up a number of things.

You just seem to forget: Key Oh Eff: Mamimum Impak! That was 3D and they looked woeful.
KOF13 really does need to build on 12. But it would be a little hard for what I want since the characters are hand drawn.
Athena... New Clothing! Every older KOF she was the fashion trend setter. Always had newer looking clothing or hair updates. She made the distinguishing feature to make it stand out from being a recycled fest!

KOF XIII should not be build on KOFXII. As much as I didnt like the gameplay, characters looked funny too. SNK should take there time and make the game par with atleast Blazeblue if not SF4/Tekken. King Of Fighters need to go back to the good ol' days when it had a cool story and rivalries going. Mixing and matching teams to see how it affected the story was pretty cool too.
Each year they tinker around with the fighting system so I would expect more of the same there. Since they worked on the base of the graphics engine in KOFXII and no doubt they will use that and tweak it (I hope) I would imagine the rest of the work would go on the game balancing and characters.
They should make it look more like Blazblue with that high resolution cartoony look but since they've pretty much invested in the KOFXII engine no doubt they'll use that. _________________

Theres big demand for this game.It still have hardcore fans like SF who are waiting for right KOF game.I hope they learn from SF4.
SF4 debuted in HD consoles with basic characters and simple play. KOF should have done that.They spend too much time on 3d characters which werent upto the mark anyway.

With KOFXIII as they releasing on arcade first, so any issues or glitches would be rectified before its released on consoles. I hard rumours that they dropped XII mid way through development and started work on XIII.
Explains why no DLC characters where ever released. I think they pretty much wrote off XII and decided to do a full blown sequel.
KOF is all about personality. XII as very lacking in that department.
It's still a great game. I love the backgrounds and graphics mostly. I just hate the zooming in characters making it all pixelated.
If they add 12 more characters, 2 intro/ending poses, rival intros, zoom it out a bit (cause it looks AWESOME when both characters are on either side of the screen), a boss and great online mode, it would probably devert my attention from SFIV. _________________ Shin J Leon.

Dude, how many times are you going to complain about Iori's movelist being different? Didn't you play XI? Ash Crimson stole Iori's Magatama and therefore took the Yagami flames. Iori won't get his powers back until Ash surrenders them or is killed. If you played KOFXII in depth, you'd be able to see that his moves are absolutely devastating if used correctly. Flame-less Iori will most likely stick around. The only thing you can hope for is that they have a KOF98 or 2002 Iori to choose from in addition to the current one.
If KOFXIII can at least get 30 characters, that'll be great. Holy crap if they go 2002 UM limit and hit 66. If they can include K' and Kula, I'll be quite happy. I'd even love to see Nameless make it into the mix. I honestly don't mind the XII sprites since they're far more detailed in every aspect including lighting. Can't wait to see more stuff. Its funny that my friends were saying that this game would never happen in light of XII not being able to catch on with the mainstream audience. _________________

@shinhawk: Woah, so sorry... I have only "compalined" one other time, that was the first time i played XII making that twice, and no I haven't played 11 so I didn't know the reason or even research about it, It was just something i noticed when i tried to play with him.
I haven't played to much XII because of the lack of people on my friends list that have it and when i try to meet new players they are always from asia/euro and are really laggy making it unplayable and pointless, and i guess most of teh aust players have moved on to other games by now :/
I have now seen the way that Iori is played in 12 and he is awesome but the fact remains that they removed it and I was coming from playing a bit of 98 to XII. It was just a comment nothing more nothing less, thanks for filling me in to the reason behind the changes. _________________ XBL - myzz

These don't look like new scans in light of KOFXIII's announcement. Its pretty hard to miss, but in case anyone did, it says that this is from the Japanese Official Guide for KOFXII which came out almost a year ago.
Its really tough to read because the kanji is so blurred out. The only real relevant stuff is in that box where its talking about the 3 characters shown at the right. The only part in that box I can make out is that those are sprites of characters that could possibly be used later on. Aside from that they also have a boss sketch. I can't seem to find his name, but its the magnificent-looking jerk with the cape and powers emanating from him. He kind of reminds me of Heinlein from Mark of the Wolf.
Again, because these are rough sketches from the KOFXII guide, these could be either scrapped ideas or planned characters for the next game. _________________

I don't know why you think that's bad especially when SFIV and BlazBlue have received updates in the same amount of time and in BlazBlue's case, even less. XIII doesn't even have location tests or previews yet, so most likely the earliest this game will come out is in the Summer. _________________

in a way hes right , the way i see it is we are still a growing market in terms of games , in the US anything game related will be sold anywhere but over here its lil different some times retailers wont stock things due to low sales , i doubt that will be the case with XII at all but if it was one failure after anther they may wise up .

I do hope they have a boss stage in XIII, and I'm hoping they revert back to '02 or '98-style. I really despised XII; no boss fight, and played totally differently with the recover and stagger which I found detracted from the KoF franchise.
